With Eternal Frost Coming Tuesday, New World Reveals Free and Premium Reward Tracks

The latest Q&A video —  the last of 2023 — for New World dropped on Christmas. Despite the festive outfits of two-thirds of the developers on camera, the Amazon Games team addressed some pretty hard-hitting questions that have circulated since its 2024 roadmap was revealed.

The New World team is,once again, discussing their methods of storytelling, with a highlight on music and sounds. In prior videos, they’ve touched on the subject, particularly with Brimstone Sands, but now, after four seasonal releases and the first expansion, Rise of the Angry Earth, there’s a lot more to talk about.

So 2023 has been a wild year in the games industry. We've seen multiple MMORPG expansions drop — and not from the genre's heaviest hitters, while the industry itself has had a banner year in the RPG genre alone. Games like Final Fantasy XVI, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and, of course, Baldur's Gate 3 dominated people's playtime this year.

The next major biome for Iron Gate’s Valheim is the Ashlands, a fiery region with lava and extreme temperatures. In a new Steam post, the developer confirmed its launch for the first half of 2024 but noted that it would arrive in the Public Test Branch first. On top of this, it released a new “Walk and Talk” video where the team discusses various aspects of the new biome.

The New World team is looking back on 2023, breaking down some interesting player stats, while also giving a glimpse ahead and what's to come in 2024.

Amazon has released Season 4,Eternal Frost for New World today after originally planning its release for yesterday. The rollout has been facing some issues, with the team holding maintenance and making adjustments while they fix any lingering issues, including reports of crashes.
