Marvel's Midnight Suns, Two Point Campus headline first Humble Bundle of the year

Nintendo and Lego continue to enjoy huge amounts of success together through their Super Mario Lego sets, and in March that world will expand via the release of the first waves of Animal Crossing sets. Animal Crossing being the first Nintendo series to get the Lego treatment after Mario makes sense considering New Horizons' massive sales numbers. It has felt like there must be a Zelda set or two coming though, and four years after the first rumors surfaced, 2024 might finally be the year that happens.

Blizzard just revealed World of Warcraft Chronicle Volume 4, the first lore book of its kind in six years. This encyclopedia of World of Warcraft lore will encompass five expansions worth of history and is planned for release on July 16.

Just like death and taxes, you can usually rely on a Call of Duty game to top the sales charts each year. The various entries in Activision’s warfare simulation franchise have mostly done just that, going all the way back to 2009. This year’s a bit different. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has fallen to second place, as reported by media research firm Circana.

The usual suspects were out in force in the Game Developers Choice Awards 2024 nominees, with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur's Gate 3 leading the way with seven nominees apiece. But there were also some big surprises in the Game of the Year category, with Alan Wake 2 missing out in favor of Dave the Diver and Dredge.

I mentioned this in a What Are We Playing? and the podcast last week, but I've been playing a point and click puzzle game called Twilight Oracle, which is out at the end of the month. It's cool! It reminds me a lot of Legends Of Kyrandia, in that it doesn't need to explain why stuff in the world is like it is, it just is. Big talking fish? Sure. Skull floating in space? You betcha.

It's business as usual today, bargain hunters—nothing but the cheapest prices on the stuff actually worth caring about. Personally, I'd steer you most strongly towards that Awesome Humble Bundle as there are some cracking titles within. Not many of them are below 9/10 goodness.

Humble Bundle's dropped another great TTRPG deal—this time for Lovecraft lovers with its Call of Cthulhu book bundle. At the time of writing, the bundle has raised over $22,000 for the World Wildlife Fund. It's also a pretty damn good deal from a buyer's standpoint, too.

Warner Bros. Games has announced that the Harry Potter action-RPG Hogwarts Legacy sold over 22 million copies by the end of 2023, with roughly 2 million of those sales over the December festive period. «But it’s not just the units sold that I’m so proud of, it’s just that it delighted the fans so much,» Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president David Haddad told Variety.

Thanks to the popularity of the Steam Deck, it's no surprise that we've seen a multitude of manufacturers jump on the handheld gaming PC bandwagon. They have all released competing devices, each with their own take on the form factor and each hoping to carve out its own segment of this new emerging market. Now it's MSI's turn to show off its new handheld gaming device, and well, it's called the Claw.

Humble's come out of the gate swinging with its first Choice Bundle⁠—available through the charity-focused initiative's $12 subscription service⁠—of the year. Marvel's Midnight Suns, alongside a collection of seven other games, are available to keep for subscribers at no additional cost.

2023 was a big year for the Mario franchise. There was a brand-new 2D platformer in the form of Wonder, an Illumination movie that grossed over $1 billion, an entirely new WarioWare game, a remake of the classic 1996 RPG, and a reveal for a solo Princess Peach title. But in that ocean of Mario goodness, Waluigi was left behind.
