Dragon's Dogma 2 dropped to impressively high review scores last month, earning Capcom yet another hit with critics — but now that it's been out for a little while, we want to know what you think of this open world RPG. Indeed, player opinion seems to be a bit more divided, although we're well aware that some people have been waiting 12 years for this sequel, and that fact might have counted towards heightened expectations.

Dragon's Dogma 2 has sold more than 2.5 million copies in the less than two weeks it has spent on the market, Capcom today confirmed. Bundling in all the versions of the original game, this means the series has in total sold over 10 million units. The Japanese firm shared the news today in a press release where it committed to more «additions and changes» for the PS5 sequel.

I got a lot of backlash following my Helldivers 2 review from many fanboys. Undeniably, this game took over the cultural zeitgeist for a while and is still one of the best sellers on Steam. In my review, I pointed out many of the game's problems, such as the server issues, the incredibly awful balancing, and the glitches and bugs it has. I capped things off by giving the game a 6/10, a score that I gave to another lacking live service of the same caliber: Payday 3.

I’ve always been impressed by how much cleaner and stylish 75% keyboards look. Sure, full-sized boards have more functionality packed into them with a full numpad, but their designs usually end up on the bulkier side as a result. Things haven't been easy for Fullbright, the company that most famously produced Gone Home back in 2013, a slice of indie narrative heaven that won plaudits. After the excellent (but less virally successful) Tacoma in 2017, it's now back with another long-awaited game, Open Roads — except, in fact, the name Fullbright has been scrubbed from the final product after allegations of a toxic workplace culture sprung up a few years ago. The game's instead credited to the 'Open Roads Team'. Delays and slow progress have seen it slip years from its original release window, but the game is here at last: a short and sweet story-driven road trip.

We really liked Dragon’s Dogma 2 in our review, describing it as the “apex of RPG adventuring”. But it appears the enthusiasm has not quite infected everyone yet, as the title’s community is surprisingly divided right now. For the next free update in the ever-expanding No Man’s Sky, industrious developer Hello Games has completely rebuilt space stations. User impressions have been more lenient overall, but it's still hard to shake the feeling that Rise of the Ronin has struggled to make any kind of significant impact.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is an amazing open world RPG — we've said as much numerous times in our Dragon's Dogma 2 PS5 review. But there's also no getting around just how unoptimized the title is on a technical level. As stressed in our aforementioned review, the game's frame rate can be a problem. Most of the time, it's found hovering between 30 and 45 frames-per-second, which is fine, but it's certainly not the consistent 60fps that you want from a game that's so heavy on action.

is the most recent entry in the rejuvenated video game series, which began with 2014's and was followed by 2017's. Unfortunately, whereas the previous titles were extremely well received upon their release, parodying the fantasy and superhero genres with the series' trademark sense of humor and 2D animation that made them feel like extended episodes of the show, has not had as much acclaim.

Torn Away is a video game from another era. Not in terms of its World War 2 setting, but rather this game seems purpose-built for the iconic handheld of yesteryear, the Nintendo DS. Ostensibly a 2D Narrative Adventure, Torn Away is packed with 3D analogue-driven mini-games; from opening cupboards to lighting fires and repairing battered boots. Frequently, during such interactions, I felt the nostalgic need for a stylus and touch screen. Problematically, they were nowhere to be found, instead, my trusty gamepad would have to suffice.

Plenty of big, AAA releases have problems at launch. Overwatch 2, Payday 3, and Redfall all launched to criticism from both reviewers and fans. It's far rarer to see a AAA game's community genuinely divided over whether or not a game is fantastic and groundbreaking, or an utter disaster at launch. But weirdly, that's what's happening with Dragon's Dogma 2.

The V29.10 update dropped on March 26, adding a whole host of vehicles for players to build. It's called the Mechanical Mayhem patch, which also addresses some of the more persistent bugs that've been present since launch. Expect to unlock new vehicle parts which can be used to get around in style. The new Hauler can be used to move resources across large distances too, making it extremely useful for setting up new camps.

There are times when Open Roads hits alarmingly close to home. Early on in this interactive road trip, your 16-year-old protagonist Tess turns around to reach for a bag perched in the back of her mom’s vintage station wagon – without skipping a beat, she’s accosted by her mother, Opal, from behind the wheel. The altercation flooded my brain with memories of family road trips in the early 2000s: “You can’t just turn around. It’s unsafe,” my dad would say from his vehicular throne, despite how frustratingly close I was to grabbing my Game Boy. Parental authority and nostalgia are just a few of the powerful tools Open Roads harnesses to deliver a playful and relatable story about coming of age in the early aughts, however, hastily resolved problems and the lack of an engaging mystery also make this adventure a little too predictable to leave a lasting impression.
