We've had a fair number of exciting new game releases lately, and they've all had a moment to shin in the UK's physical games chart. This time, though, it's the turn of South Park: Snow Day, which makes a perhaps surprising debut at number three. It's behind usual hits EA Sports FC 24 and Hogwarts Legacy, with the PS5 version the most popular.
Dragon's Dogma 2, meanwhile, falls a few places in its second week, moving from second to fifth. Helldivers 2 remains steady at number seven, while Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown jumps up from 10th to eighth. Similarly, It Takes Two is on the rise, going from 12th to ninth. PS5 exclusive Rise of the Ronin has left the top 10, moving from its debut in fifth to number 14.
Here's the latest top 10 in full (physical sales only).
Stephen has been part of the Push Square team for over six years, bringing boundless enthusiasm and a deep knowledge of video games to his role as Assistant Editor. Having grown up playing every PlayStation console to date, he's developed an eclectic taste, with particular passion for indie games, arcade racers, and puzzlers. He's also our go-to guy for Sonic-related matters, much to his delight/chagrin.
License's still have an impact plus Snow Day was cheaper than most new releases and is multiplayer focused so maybe cracking top 3 in first week isn't surprising. Especially as most people buying it won't have looked at reviews
So has Rise of the Ronin been a disaster? I remember seeing it and thinking it just looked very derivative.
People should not trust reviews because as an example: LOTR Gollum is the ps5 game with the worst review score on Metacritic
@Johnnycide critical reception has been poor. From what I can tell the Nioh fan base is still enjoying it.
It Takes Two is a success story, and imo totally deserved. Are there recent total sales numbers for it?
@Max_the_German
I think there was a post by the developer recently mentioning that It Takes Two surpassed 16 million copies sold.
Hogwarts legacy… Well played WB.
Make a good game with a good gameplay base, FINISH it and it'll sell.
Take notes Ubisoft.
I can't imagine it was a very strong week for games in the UK with South Park so high up. Shockingly decent result but I think word of mouth will hurt it.
Physical Sales Numbers to determine a game's success is silly. Physical sales are on their way out totally eclipsed by digital sales. That being said Ronin looked terrible
Glad to see Helldivers 2 still in the top ten.
@Johnnycide Its basically a bog standard 6 or 7 out of 10 game. I don't own it yet but i played it round my friends and yeah its fine, it does nothing special but it works and does nothing particularly wrong. Not worth full price but worth playing at 30 quid or
