The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalog is expanding to include 14 new games today. The April 2024 additions to PS Plus even include one day-one release.
Sony's subscription catalog typically rotates its contents on the third Tuesday of each month. The previous such change saw PS Plus Extra and Premium add 13 new games on March 19.
Another 14 games are coming to Sony's on-demand library later today, April 16. The new arrivals that will be available across both PS Plus tiers have already been announced a week in advance, as is tradition. There are 11 of those titles in total, with the list being headlined by Dave the Diver, which is the only day-one release from this first spring 2024 batch. Developed by South Korean studio Mintrocket, the Unity engine-powered game is a curious genre hybrid combining management sim elements with action-adventure gameplay. The PlayStation port of Dave the Diver is ten months behind the original PC version of the game.

As for the April 2024 additions to the platform's Classics Catalog, there are three of them this time around. The least surprising of the new PS Plus Premium-exclusive classic releases is MediEvil, not least because its arrival has already been inferred from some recently revised PlayStation Store trophies. Following this catalog update, both the 1998 action adventure and its 2019 remake will be available to play with a PS Plus Premium membership.
The oldest title from the newest batch of classics is Star Wars: Rebel Assault 2: The Hidden Empire, LucasArts' 1995 rail shooter which was ported to the PS1 by German developer Factor 5. PS Plus Premium members will also be able to play Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare starting today. Originally released in 2001, this is the fourth mainline entry in the cult-classic survival horror franchise, as well as the first to have ever made it to a Sony console. Based on aggregate review scores, The New Nightmare remains the most critically acclaimed PlayStation game in the series.
The next bit of news concerning Sony's subscription service is expected to arrive on April 24; the last Wednesday of each month is normally when the company announces the following batch of free PS Plus games for the month ahead.

Sony recently added a free trial for one of the most controversial games of 2024 to PlayStation Plus Premium, meaning members of the service can give Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League a shot without having to spend a single extra penny. Though some may have preferred a more well-received game to be added instead, trials like these allow PlayStation Plus players to test out divisive games and make judgments for themselves on titles they may not have touched otherwise.
Unfortunately for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers, it seems an additional seven games are leaving the service, bringing the total to a whopping 34 games that are on their way out. PlayStation Plus Extra games are removed on a monthly basis, but 34 is still a lot of games to see go removed all at one time. All 34 games are expected to be removed from the PlayStation Plus Extra tier on Tuesday, May 21.
Ever since the GTA 6 trailer was released, fans have been speculating about various aspects of the game. Courtesy of leaks, we already knew that GTA 6 was based in Vice City, and the game's trailer confirmed that it will indeed feature Miami-inspired Leonida at the centre. It is also reported to heavily focus on the improvement of gameplay mechanics, while some Red Dead Redemption 2 features might also make an appearance. Since it is the first GTA title in over 10 years, the developer is rumoured to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on the game, but could that also mean a price hike for gamers?
Amazon has revealed its slate of free Prime Gaming games for May 2024. This month's freebies available to Amazon Prime subscribers include Fallout 3 and eight other titles.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is set to leave PlayStation Plus' Extra tier catalog within the month of May 2024. The remake of developer Big Huge Games' classic action RPG will soon depart from the PlayStation Plus library in addition to the 25 titles already scheduled to disappear from the service throughout the coming weeks.
Unfortunately for those subscribed to the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus, it appears as though Horizon Zero Dawn is leaving the service on Tuesday, May 21. Unlike the free games that make up the Essential tier of PlayStation Plus and can be kept as long as one stays subscribed, the PlayStation Plus Extra games are rotated in and out of availability, ala Netflix or Xbox Game Pass.
Ravenlok and five other games are leaving Xbox Game Pass later today, April 30. This wave of outgoing titles will round off an uncharacteristically busy month for Xbox Game Pass in terms of departures.
It seems as though Dave the Diver is a big hit with those subscribed to the Extra tier of PlayStation Plus. The Extra tier of PlayStation Plus gives subscribers access to everything that comes with the Essential tier, like the monthly free games, as well as a huge rotating library of select PS4 and PS5 titles, ala Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation now. For the most part, the new PS Plus Extra games are comprised of older titles, but there are times when new games debut on the service.
Sony has updated the Extra tier of its PlayStation Plus subscription service to add Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, a brand-new, day one release. PlayStation Plus isn't exactly known for its day one releases, especially when compared to Xbox Game Pass, but that doesn't mean that the service is totally without day one games. In fact, numerous day one games have been added to PlayStation Plus over the years.
Dead Island 2 is finally available on Steam as of today, April 22. Its arrival on Valve's storefront has been highly anticipated by the fandom, as underlined by the fact that Dead Island 2 is already listed as the best-selling game on the platform.
Sony is clearing up space for new additions to the PS Plus Service. Unfortunately, that means PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium members will lose access to some incredible titles, including a number of Final Fantasy entries and popular indie hits.
Subscribers to the Extra tier of the PlayStation Plus subscription service should note that seven Final Fantasy games are set to leave the lineup on May 21, with 18 other titles getting the boot as well. Those who are signed up to the Essential tier of PlayStation Plus can keep those games forever as long as they stay subscribed, but the games that make up the Extra and Premium tiers are available on a rotating basis.
