PS Plus Premium Adds Free Trial For One of 2024's Most Controversial Games

Sony recently added a free trial for one of the most controversial games of 2024 to PlayStation Plus Premium, meaning members of the service can give Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League a shot without having to spend a single extra penny. Though some may have preferred a more well-received game to be added instead, trials like these allow PlayStation Plus players to test out divisive games and make judgments for themselves on titles they may not have touched otherwise.
Despite some announcements of major departures lately, PlayStation fans have been treated to a number of high quality releases across all three tiers of Sony's Game Pass-like subscription service. Titles like Dave the Diver, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Resident Evil 3, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, and Tales of Vesperia are only some of the best PlayStation Plus games added to the Extra and Premium tiers of the service in recent months. In addition to the inclusion of new titles from PlayStation's ever-expanding library of games, however, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers are also given the ability to try out a select number of recent releases at no additional cost with the «free trials» feature. Some of the games added to the free trial catalog are admittedly more exciting than others, and this latest addition is a title that certainly ruffled quite a few feathers when it dropped earlier this year.
The game in question is Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and, as seen on the PlayStation Store, a free trial of the controversial live service title is currently available for all PlayStation Plus Premium members. Released back in February 2024, Batman: Arkham developer Rocksteady Studios' latest title was met with mixed critical reception across the board from both reviewers and fans. Many considered it a big step-down in quality compared to the company's prior efforts, in large part due to repetitive mission design, controversial story decisions, and tacked-on microtransactions, among other things. The fact that the game ended up being a disappointment to most made the eight-year wait between this title and 2015's Batman: Arkham Knight all the more dreadful.
Nonetheless, there were still some players who were willing to go to bat for the critically-panned game, pointing out the enjoyable gunplay, excellent voice acting, and solid character writing as major highlights. Ultimately, though, it's safe to say that the title didn't resonate with the majority of gamers, as Suicide Squad failed to live up to the sales expectations that Warner Bros.
