Unfortunately for PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers, it seems an additional seven games are leaving the service, bringing the total to a whopping 34 games that are on their way out. PlayStation Plus Extra games are removed on a monthly basis, but 34 is still a lot of games to see go removed all at one time. All 34 games are expected to be removed from the PlayStation Plus Extra tier on Tuesday, May 21.
Initially, PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers only had 25 games to worry about, as they were the only titles listed in the service's leaving soon section. Some of the best Final Fantasy games were among the departures, so fans were already upset about the games leaving PS Plus Extra in May 2024, but since then, even more removals have been discovered by the community.
At first, it was discovered that Horizon Zero Dawn was leaving the PS Plus Extra library. Not too long after that, fans realized that Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning was getting the boot as well. And now Reddit user MichaelWildeboer has put together a list highlighting even more games that have been discovered to be leaving PS Plus Extra on May 21. According to their findings, May 21 will be the last day for PS Plus Extra subscribers to play Darksiders Genesis, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition, Darksiders: Deathinitive Edition, Darksiders 3, Elex 2, MX vs. ATV Legends, and Wreckfest.
Needless to say, May 21 is going to be an even sadder day for PS Plus Extra subscribers than it was already, what with these seven additional titles on the way out. Seeing 34 games leave PS Plus Extra all at once is no doubt going to leave a big hole in the PS Plus Extra library, and so it will be interesting to see how Sony plans on filling it. Unfortunately, fans won't know what the new PS Plus Extra games for May 2024 are until the middle of the month.
PS Plus Extra subscribers are encouraged to check out the departing games while they wait to learn about the new additions, though they don't have time to play through all of them before May 21 rolls around. In the meantime, PS Plus Extra subscribers should also be sure to claim the free PS Plus games for May 2024 when they become available on Tuesday, May 7. Unlike the PS Plus Extra games, the monthly free games can be kept forever, assuming one stays subscribed to PS Plus, that is.
