Dragon's Dogma 2 Patch Will Let Players Start A New Game

Capcom has confirmed that a range of improvements will be made to Dragon's Dogma 2 in upcoming patches, including the ability to start a new game. This comes as players quickly found that Dragon's Dogma 2 doesn't have the option to delete your current campaign, making it impossible to start another without manually removing save files from your console or PC.
The upcoming patches will also allow anyone playing on console to limit the game's performance to 30FPS. This will stop the game from trying to go any higher, which can result in framerate drops if there's suddenly a lot happening on screen. Capcom adds that overall framerate improvements are on the way too, so anyone who chooses to keep playing on the variable setting should hopefully notice fewer performance dips.
Dragon's Dogma 2 making it difficult to start a new game was called out soon after launch. As it stands, anyone who wants to restart their playthrough for whatever reason has to manually remove their save files from their system. The fix that Capcom rolls out probably won't add multiple save files, since this was a conscious design choice, but rather let players delete their single save file to start another.
Other than that, we can expect bug fixes and improvements to visuals in these upcoming patches. This is more or less what Capcom told us to expect when it acknowledged fan backlash to the game at launch, promising that patches were on the way.
A notable issue that goes unmentioned here, however, is that of Dragon's Dogma 2's microtransactions. Capcom did acknowledge the backlash towards them on launch day, but only to remind fans that all of the items can also be acquired through normal gameplay.
Negative reviews continue to come in, focussing on microtransactions and performance issues. With future updates intending to fix one of these problems, it remains to be seen if these reviews improve, as the game currently has a 'mixed' reception on Steam.
Capcom doesn't give us a specific timeframe for these Dragon's Dogma 2 fixes, just saying that they will be with us in the "near future" and "as soon as they are ready for distribution". The patches will roll out on all available platforms - PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 - although it's not clear if all of the announced features will launch at once in one update. Rather, it seems more likely that each feature will go live once it is ready.
