Square Enix has announced that it “expects to recognize extraordinary losses” for the fiscal year that ended on March 31, attributing them as “content abandonment losses”. The Japanese company has, in other words, cancelled undisclosed projects, owing to which it will incur losses amounting to ¥22.1 billion (roughly $140.4 million).

Square Enix looks to have canceled multiple unannounced games, accruing more than $140 million in development costs on said games.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Sand Land game has made some big changes to one of the manga's most well-known easter eggs, which name-dropped Dragon Quest 13 and the PlayStation 6.

While Black Temple Timewalking can award 493+ item level gear this week, we've also confirmed that the Cache of Timewarped Treasures quest reward can also drop the elusive Ashes of Al'ar! In over a decade since the Burning Crusade, the Ashes of Al'ar are not particularly difficult to obtain at this point, as virtually any one at or near max level can quite easily solo Tempest Keep and defeat Kael'thas Sunstrider within, it remains a rare and highly coveted mount. Although a common misconception, it does not drop from Al'ar itself. Despite popular misconception, the Ashes drop from Kael'thas rather than Alar. Whether or not you are particularly interested in this mount, it's a good idea to head over to Shattrath and pick up Disturbance Detected: Black Temple anyway.

While VR may not be as big as was predicted back in the early 2000s when the original Oculus Go was released, there is still a considerable market these days, and some great VR games like Half-Life: Alyx that you can have fun with. Fallout 4's "next generation" update goes live today. Timed to capitalise on the Fallout TV show's mad popularity, it'll encumber the 2015-released open world wasteland RPG with widescreen and ultra-widescreen support, Creation Kit fixes, and a "variety of quest updates" across Steam, Microsoft Store and GOG. There will be new items for the Creation Club, including the Makeshift Weapon Pack, which lets you blast people with a piggy bank like Elon Musk, and a new quest, Echoes Of The Past, in which you try to "stop The Enclave from spreading their dangerous ideology and gaining a foothold in the Commonwealth".

Earlier this year, famous mangaka and Dragon Quest co-creator Akira Toriyama passed away at the age of 68. But before he did, he had the chance to try out the new Sand Land game, based on his one-shot manga series from 24 years ago.

Players can earn Hero-Track gear by defeating Illidan in Black Temple Timewalking during this week's event! Those looking to start Season 4 off with the best gear possible won't just want to take advantage of the Timewalking Dungeon reward cache — it looks like Disturbance Detected: Black Temple is also offering a Cache of Timewarped Treasures that is dropping Season 4 gear. To accept this quest, head to Shattrath and speak with Vormu, right in the center of the city (/way 54.6 39.0).

Although the weekly quest in Valdrakken awards half a Spark of Awakening used to craft max level gear, it appears players can earn another half this week as random loot from dungeons and raids too, allowing them to upgrade a piece of gear in the first week of Dragonflight Season 4! While previous Seasons also allowed players access to a full spark within the first week, the extra half was awarded from a quest, making it pretty hard for players to miss. This time, however, it's not quite so obvious, as one of the splinters isn't attached to a quest at all.

Unlocking and beating the Knave boss fight in can grant you important rewards for some characters, in addition to being one of the best encounters in the game. The Knave is the boss form of Arlecchino, the Fatui Harbinger that was first introduced as an NPC and was then added as a new playable character in 4.6. While Arlecchino is a ruthless and powerful DPS unit, she gets even more powerful in her boss form – this is quite similar to Raiden Shogun as a character versus her boss form in the region of Inazuma.

Crafting is as important a mechanic in Fallout 76 as shooting and looting. As is the case with every Bethesda game, you will be collecting every item in the world that isn’t nailed down to use for parts until you’re over–encumbered. Being a live service game, you will often also be tasked with hunting down a specific material or item as part of a daily or weekly challenge. One fairly common one is to find burnt books. There are a few smaller stashes of these singed paperbacks around Appalachia, but one location in particular is the mother lode. There are no libraries in the wasteland, but we know the location of the secret stashwhere you’ll find all the burnt books you could want.

Originally published all the way back in 2000 as a standalone manga, it's strange, but not unwelcome, to see Sand Land be revived as both an anime series and a video game almost a quarter of a century later. Authored by the late and legendary Akira Toriyama, Sand Land is an incredibly charming story about a post-apocalyptic world, where a cocky demon prince is roped into helping out what's left of humanity.

Baldur's Gate 3 allows players to make a wide variety of choices, whether that's moral decisions or even just deciding the order in which you approach the game's quests. However, one player has discovered that it even takes into account which companions make it to the end of the game - and changes the dialogue for those who beat it without any of them.

With Dragonflight Season 4 now live, players already clearing their weekly objectives have discovered that the Timewalking Weekly Quest cache contains lower than intended item level rewards! Although listed as item level 493, it only appears to be awarding 395 gear. Although an item level 493 reward is displayed, the cache is currently giving out only 395 gear. This is almost certainly a bug and one that Blizzard typically seeks to compensate players for, but players are advised to avoid turning in their weekly A Burning Path Through Time quest a fix has been confirmed.

Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) has confirmed it's developing a VR headset, and it'll be powered by Meta's Horizon OS — that's the operating system that devices like the Meta Quest 3 run on.

In a surprising move, Meta has announced the opening of the operating system behind its Quest mixed-reality headset. This means third-party hardware makers will be able to create their own mixed reality headsets; in fact, ASUS has already announced it is developing a high-performance gaming headset. S.Y. Hsu, Co-CEO of ASUS, said in a statement:

7 Days to Die, the survival open world first-person shooter zombie-themed game, will finally leave early access after over ten years. Developer The Fun Pimps announced the unexpected news during the weekend. The goal is to release version 1.0 in June for PC, while the console version will ship in July. Later, cross-play will be added to the game, probably with the first major post-launch update.

The Rising Tide is the second and final expansion for Final Fantasy 16, adding another worthwhile chapter to the tale of Clive Rosfield. Only accessible near the very end of the base game, this DLC is designed to be something of a sendoff for the action RPG, providing a new storyline that brings additional weight to the title's world building, while also giving players an opportunity to dive yet deeper into 16's slick combat system.

Work Orders have been a controversial addition to Crafting Professions since the rework in Dragonflight. While many players appreciated the ability to simply press a button to craft instead of having to go through a lengthy trading process, others quickly lamented the lack of Public Work Orders — or more specifically, Public Work Orders that were worth the gold to craft them in terms of pay. Blizzard has heard these criticisms and announced a new feature for Work Orders in The War Within: NPCs will place Work Orders in the crafting system to potentially alleviate some of the availability scarcity that currently plagues the market. Announced in the latest Wowcast, Blizzard stated that the NPCs won't provide monetary payments as lucrative as crafting Work Orders for other players.

Meta today announced some changes to its virtual reality business to make it a more open ecosystem for developers and users.

Each piece of Fallout 4 DLC adds something substantial to the base experience. In the case of the Automatron expansion, an entire new questline pitting you against a robot army led by a figure known as the Mechanist. Starting it isn't as difficult as starting other DLCs like the Nuka-World expansion, but it-s still a bit cryptic. Buying the DLC doesn't automatically make it apparent how to actually start this new adventure, but we'll give you specific directions to find it in the wasteland.

Just like Zagreus’ never-ending quest to escape the Underworld in Greek mythology, it seems we too are destined to continue fighting through new levels of demons and monsters in the sequel to the amazing roguelike Hades. We’re not complaining, as that game was one of the best games released in 2020, and no one expected a sequel at all, let alone one announced so soon. Hades 2 will be the first sequel studio Supergiant Games have ever made, and it makes sense given how successful and popular the first game ended up being. Aside from some notable exceptions like Rogue Legacy 2 and Spelunky 2, not many roguelikes ever get a direct sequel, so there’s a lot of mystery surrounding how Hades 2 will be different from the first game.
