Akira Toriyama Gave Sand Land His Stamp Of Approval Before Passing

The bountiful creations of the late Akira Toriyama are household names, but you won’t find any of his most well-known characters in Sand Land. His lesser-known graphic novel has remained a footnote when compared to Dragon Ball Z’s prodigious success, but it’s clear that someone out there thinks that now is Sand Land’s time, with the arrival of a movie, an animated series, and a video game adaptation, all in the last six months. This multi-format assault showcases that the genius of Akira Toriyama extended far beyond the Dragon Balls, and while it might have taken a long time coming, it was well worth the wait.

A new life simulation inspired by the Studio Ghibli movies has been spotted on Steam.

Creativision Studio has announced Starsand Island, a tranquil island farming simulation game coming to PC via Steam in Q4 2025.

Bandai Namco’s SAND LAND, developed by ILCA of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl fame, is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and PC. Like many open-world games, your map in is mostly hidden at first, unless you manage to fix Radio Towers scattered in different areas of the world. Repairing these monuments to old technology will help you track down other interesting areas of regions you explore.
