We all knew this was coming. Destiny 2: The Final Shape will make sweeping changes to the MMO's overly complicated Power system, streamlining the grind and making it easier to play with friends. The kicker is that all "legacy" items – you know, the ones that were sunset years ago – are coming back. Except they're also not, because most players already deleted them after they were sunset, and developer Bungie admits "we have no recovery mechanism." 

One of the new BRAVE weapons that players can acquire in Destiny 2's Into the Light update affords Guardians a ton of extra mobility if used correctly, but a hilarious clip circulating online demonstrates what happens when Guardians are careless with their grenade-jumps. The major free update that has recently come to Destiny 2 brings in a significant amount of new content for players to enjoy, and has contributed to a rapid resurgence in popularity for the game ahead of The Final Shape.

Love for the Fallout series has spread into the Last City, as a Destiny 2 player has expertly recreated the look of an iconic Fallout: New Vegas armor set in the game. As with other Destiny 2 «cosplay» looks, the recreation employs the game's armor customization system, turning parts for a Titan Guardian into an NCR Ranger.

Power has inspired much discussion in the Destiny 2 community, and with Bungie experimenting more with not raising the Power limit, many believed The Final Shape would remove it. Instead, the development team is taking several steps to allow more easily playing with friends, regardless of their Power.

Among its most unpopular decisions with Destiny 2, Bungie made two exceptionally annoying ones – vaulting previously released content, like The Red War, Curse of Osiris and Warmind campaigns, and capping Power on Legendary gear. It would slightly alter course on the latter, ensuring that Legendaries released after a point didn’t suffer the same issue. However, in The Final Shape, it’s completely reversing the decision.

If The Witness wasn’t enough for Guardians in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, they must contend with the new Dread faction. Wielding the powers of Darkness, they create havoc and keep the player off-balance, as seen with the Harbinger, Weaver, Husk and Geist. Two new teasers highlight the remaining members – the Omen, Attendant and Grim.

Xur has returned in Bungie’s Destiny 2, appearing in the Tower Hangar. Unfortunately, much of the sought after loot is dropping in Onslaught, and his inventory just can’t hack it. Nevertheless, he’s carrying the Exotic energy shotgun Lord of Wolves and other items until the next reset.

A number of remarkable upcoming changes to Destiny 2 were recently shared in the latest TWID post, including the confirmed reversal of the weapon sunsetting mechanic which has made countless weapons from the game's earliest years functionally obsolete. This change is a monumental one for Destiny 2's weapon sandbox overall, and while many fans of the game were certain a change like this would never come, it seems as though the countless weapons from the game's first few years will actually be getting the chance to shine again.

As the end of the current phase of Destiny 2 draws to a close, with The Final Shape out in just a month and a change, it really does seem like Bungie is putting it all on the line. A new faction, the first in years, will be introduced, as will the ability to mix and match subclass powers. Now, the developer has announced that it will do away with Power limits, deeming them incompatible with Fireteam Power.

A lot of changes are coming to the Power system of Destiny 2 when The Final Shape expansion makes it debut on June 4. ProbablyMonsters, an independent game company founded in 2016 by former Bungie president and CEO Harold Ryan, has created a new team to develop a competitive multiplayer game in Unreal Engine 5. Led by former Bungie leader Chris Opdah, who has more than 20 years of experience as a game developer working on franchises like Halo and Destiny, Hidden Grove is the new team within ProbablyMonsters working on this multiplayer project.

A Destiny 2 player has created an armor set dedicated to the Dark and Fire-type Pokemon Incineroar. Destiny 2 is full of different armor sets that provide status boosts and set bonuses when equipped with similar gear, but this armor was put together to resemble Incineroar.

Xur has returned in Destiny 2, making one last trip to the Arcadian Valley on Nessus before Into the Light drops tomorrow. He’s carrying D.A.R.C.I., a Heavy sniper rifle, which costs 29 Legendary Shards.

Embattled developer Bungie will showcase The Final Shape, Destiny 2's latest, last, and perhaps most important expansion, next Tuesday, providing an update on the in-development project. The Final Shape was originally supposed to launch in February 2024 but was hit with a delay alongside last year's layoffs.

Few weapons strike fear into the hearts of Destiny 2 players like the all-timer ensemble of Recluse, The Mountaintop, and Luna's Howl, which defined an entire (miserable) era of the game's history. So the news that these three guns, alongside several other nostalgic favorites, are returning as part of the upcoming Into the Light update was met with a mix of excitement and trepidation. Are we going back to those dark days? No, hopefully. Bungie says these weapons are indeed returning, but not completely game-breaking anymore.  

An update to an in-game character biography for Destiny 2 seems to imply that major character Lord Shaxx is married. The change may arrive in a matter of days alongside developer Bungie's upcoming content update to Destiny 2, called Into the Light.

Bungie held its third developer livestream for Destiny 2: Into the Light recently, confirming other features and content arriving with the free update. Perhaps the most notable is the return of two beloved Exotic missions – The Whisper and Zero Hour. Players will receive craftable versions of Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected for completing these.

While PvE is the focus with Destiny 2: Into the Light when it launches on April 9th, PvP players will also have plenty to look forward to next month. A free map pack is inbound, adding three new Crucible maps – Eventide Labs, Cirrus Plaza and Dissonance.

If three new Crucible maps and returning Exotic missions weren’t enough, Destiny 2: Into the Light will also introduce a new mode called Pantheon. Launching on April 30th, it’s a raid boss gauntlet. A weekly challenge will also be available for the mode, offering “escalating” difficulties and rewards.
