An update to an in-game character biography for Destiny 2 seems to imply that major character Lord Shaxx is married. The change may arrive in a matter of days alongside developer Bungie's upcoming content update to Destiny 2, called Into the Light.
In the years since the release of Destiny 2 (and its predecessor, 2014's Destiny), the game has amassed a formidable cast of memorable characters. Lord Shaxx, the master of Destiny 2's PVP mode, the Crucible, is one of the most beloved by players. Shaxx serves not only as the main vendor for the game's PVP-related bounties and gear, but is also the announcer for Crucible play, congratulating players and praising them when they do well in PVP combat. He's so popular that Bungie even partnered with merchandise maker Numskull Designs to produce a Destiny 2 Lord Shaxx statue for fans to purchase.
It seems that Bungie has updated some of Lord Shaxx's backstory for its latest addition toDestiny 2, Into the Light. Debuting on April 9, 2024, Into the Light will add new content, as well as the return of some classic Destiny 2 weapons. The new content will be centered on players' defense of the Last City, and Shaxx will be one of the City leaders marshaling the operations from a new playable zone. Players watching an Into the Light developer promotional stream noticed that the short biography under Lord Shaxx's name on his vendor screen had been changed to read «Titan. Warlord. Husband.»
The implication that Lord Shaxx is married was clear, but what wasn't immediately clear was just who Lord Shaxx's partner might be. Some wondered if there was some truth to a humorous voice message from the recent Season of the Wish update that implied Lord Shaxx and Awoken Queen Mara Sov were an item long in the past. The most plausible answer came from veteran players who remembered Crimson Days, the now-defunct Valentine's celebration event, and its signature weapons, The Vow bow.
The Vow's description features Lord Shaxx himself saying «Til death do us part,» the famous portion of a common English-language wedding vow. Its lore entry, when opened, reveals a short story that describes Shaxx promising to offer his hand in marriage to any Guardians who win The Vow bow during Destiny 2 Crimson Days by fighting in the Crucible. In light of The Vow's lore entry, Bungie's latest update to Lord Shaxx's biography suggests that Shaxx may be married to one or more player Guardians, as a good number of Destiny 2 players circa 2019 earned The Vow and have it in their Vaults.
It's fun to see Bungie seemingly responding to an obscure, nearly five-year-old bit of lore to help flesh out players' perception of one of the game's oldest characters. As Destiny 2 Into the Light appears to celebrate

A Destiny 2 player has bolstered the forces of the Vanguard and the Guardians with Turtle Power, thanks to a set of creative Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed armor customizations. The Destiny 2 armor sets cleverly replicate the look of all four pizza-loving reptiles, using careful arrangements of armor parts and color shaders.
If you'll be hiding from the sweltering sun in July (I say, daring the fates to try to spite me by delivering a cracking summer), good news: you won't be the only shadow-dweller. The fascinating Schim finally has a release date, July 18th. It stars a little shadowy soul trying to reconnect with its human by hopping from shadow to shadow through city streets, farms, factories, and parks bustling with life and moving parts. See how it works in the new trailer below!
Bungie’s Destiny 2 received its latest massive content update, Into the Light, adding Onslaught and a revamped Exotic mission for Whisper of the Worm. There’s more to come, with the raid bosses gauntlet Pantheon going live on April 30th. In the latest “This Week at Destiny,” Bungie confirmed that it includes raid bosses currently in the game, but there are a “few twists on how to approach them.”
The latest Destiny update is here, with Destiny 2: Into the Light bringing about new Crucible maps, a new three-player mode and a whole host of new weapons to unlock.
Destiny 2’s new Into the Light update brings a load of new features to the game ahead of the upcoming Final Shape expansion. Here are the big things you need to know about Destiny 2’s latest patch and all the free new goodies Bungie has packed into this update.
Alongside the Into The Light experience, Bungie released Update 7.3.6 for Destiny 2, a substantial patch that not only makes adjustments and fixes across the game, but adds in a number of highly requested features as well. So far, April 9 has proven to be a big day for Destiny 2 fans as the studio finally pulled the curtain back on The Final Shape. Bungie revealed a ton of new details for the expansion, as well as showcasing the new Prismatic subclass for Destiny 2, one that essentially lets players customize their class by mixing both Darkness and Light abilities.
Destiny 2: Into the Light starts today, and in case it wasn’t apparent during the multiple livestreams last month, it’s a great time to be a Destiny 2 fan. In fact, there’s so much in today’s release that this article is only going to focus on aspects that might appeal to three different types of Guardians:
With Destiny 2’s The Final Shape delayed until June Bungie had to find something to fill the space between the last Season and the new expansion. Into The Light is here to fill the gap and is available to all players from right about now, with the patch weighing in at around 3.5GB on PS5.
The Guardians of the Last City in Destiny 2 have a new ally in the form of Tracer, a member of the famed hero organization Overwatch, thanks to one player's customized costume. The Destiny 2 customization was created by using the game's suite of armor and shader options.
Bungie held its third developer livestream for Destiny 2: Into the Light recently, confirming other features and content arriving with the free update. Perhaps the most notable is the return of two beloved Exotic missions – The Whisper and Zero Hour. Players will receive craftable versions of Whisper of the Worm and Outbreak Perfected for completing these.
If three new Crucible maps and returning Exotic missions weren’t enough, Destiny 2: Into the Light will also introduce a new mode called Pantheon. Launching on April 30th, it’s a raid boss gauntlet. A weekly challenge will also be available for the mode, offering “escalating” difficulties and rewards.
