With Season of the Wish out today for Bungie’s Destiny 2, it also marks the limited rollout of the Fireteam Finder. This LFG-style system will allow players to seek groups in-game to complete activities like Dungeons, Raids and whatnot. In a new update video, game director Joe Blackburn outlined the team’s approach to the rollout.

After Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2‘s much-anticipated 2024 DLC, The Final Shape, was getting pushed back to early June, the game’s director has decided to add a bit more context. Since Bungie’s been going through a rough patch recently, it shouldn’t be surprising that Joe Blackburn would chime in, too.

Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2: The Final Shape is pivoting from its February 27, 2024 to June 4. In a blog post, the developer explained that it wanted to ensure the expansion is in its best shape come launch and effectively saves the troubled shooter.

According to the blog post, Season of the Wish which begins tomorrow will serve as the major content loop until The Final Shape releases in June.

With Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish going live next week, Bungie has detailed some balance changes coming with Update 7.3.0. Woven Mail is getting a 10 percent nerf to its damage resistance in PvE, from 55 to 45 percent. Restoration’s healing is dropping from 40 to 35 HP per second in PvE and 20 to 17.5 HP per second in PvP. Restoration x2 is also getting hit and will grant 50 HP per second in PvE (down from 65) and 25 HP per second in PvP (reduced from 32.5).

With Season of the Wish coming soon for Destiny 2, Bungie has revealed the seasonal artifact – the Queensfoil Censer. Though it includes perks for Solar, Strand and Stasis, there’s also a heavy focus on Rocket Launchers.

Bungie's sci-fi shooter Destiny 2 is getting an unusual crossover as CD Projekt Red's The Witcher is coming to the cosmetics store.

Bungie has officially announced an unexpected collaboration for both Destiny players and The Witcher fans. CD PROJEKT RED will partner up with Bungie to debut Witcher-inspired content in Destiny 2. The crossover is set to launch alongside Destiny 2’s Season of the Wish on November 28.

The Witcher 3 has been rather dormant for the past few years, thanks to CD Projekt Red’s other IP taking center stage. Bungie, on the other hand, has decided to bring the unique style of the silver-haired Geralt of Rivia to Destiny 2 for their upcoming update, the Season of the Wish.

Season 23 of Destiny 2 is on the horizon, currently slated to roll out on November 28, meaning a new season pass will be available for players to work their way through. This can be one of the game's best ways to get a hold of exotic weapons — some of the game's most powerful firearms — but as you can imagine you'll have to work pretty hard to get there.

Amazon Games today joins the list of gaming companies hit by layoffs. According to a memo circulated within the company, 180 employees will be affected by Amazon’s new cutbacks, which will include the entire Gaming Growth department and the Crown channel on Twitch. The company apparently plans to refocus its Gaming attention on its Prime Gaming offering.

Amazon is laying off 180 jobs in its games division, hopping on the tragically overcrowded bandwagon of layoffs in the game industry this year. The news comes viaAftermath, which reports that the layoffs are focused in two areas – the Crown Twitch channel, which will reportedly be eliminated altogether, and the game growth teams. Employees were notified of the changes through an email from Christoph Hartman, VP of Amazon Games. This is the second wave of layoffs this division of the company has faced this year.

Destiny 2's community team has been nominated at The Game Awards for their liaising, feedback collection, transparency, and player correspondence – and a lot of the people behind that work are no longer at the company following a recent wave of painful layoffs at Bungie.

Sony's planned output of live-service games has hit a stumbling block, as six of those intended 12 titles have been pushed back. During its recent earnings call, president Hiroki Totoki explained the unannounced titles were being delayed due to quality concerns and ensuring they live up to PlayStation's first-party standards. 

Shortly after Sony acquired Destiny developer Bungie, the PlayStation maker announced an ambitious plan to launch “more than 10 live-service games” by the end of Sony’s 2025 fiscal year. A year later, that plan became slightly more clear: Sony wanted 12 live-service games on PlayStation by then.

It's been a couple of days since we got that potential Mass Effect 5 teaser, but fans still can't decide if it's Shepard, an antagonist, or maybe even Daft Punk in the trailer.

A week later, in a quarterly financial results briefing, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki revealed that PlayStation planned to launch more than 10 live service games by March 2026, with Bungie helping the company in the space. In an earnings call held today, Totoki stated that of its 12 live service games, it will only release six by Fiscal Year 2025, which ends March 2026, as reported by VideoGamesChronicle. 

During today's Q2 2023 conference call with investors, Sony Vice President, COO, and CFO Hiroki Totoki (who's currently the interim CEO of SIE and looking for a permanent replacement for Jim Ryan) revealed that half of the twelve live service PlayStation games planned to launch by March 2026 have been delayed.

PlayStation has a lot of live-service games in development. Part of buying Bungie was even to utilise its expertise, which led to the less-than-favourable internal evaluation of The Last of Us' standalone Factions game. But it's not the only upcoming Sony multiplayer release to be pushed back, as half of its 12 titles have now been delayed.
