Destiny 2 Gets Record Low Player Count On Steam

There are numerous ways to tell if a video game is “on the decline” in players’ minds. Though, to be fair, part of said “decline” depends on the type of game it is. For example, if it’s a game that’s all about a story campaign, it’s not uncommon for gamers to buy the title, play through the campaign once, and then put the title down for a long time. But for games like Destiny 2, they are built upon the idea of gamers playing it for a long time and consistently coming back to it for one reason or another.

Wonder Woman Game to be Live Service Hints Job Ads as WB Vows to Double Down on GaaS

There have been a lot of hints lately that the “games as a service” bubble is bursting – Bungie badly missing its Destiny revenue targets, Sony delaying half their live-service titles, Epic admitting they’ve been losing money, to name just a few – but it seems some publishers haven’t got the memo just yet. Case in point, Warner Bros. Discovery recently released their earnings, and CEO David Zaslav says the goal is to double down on GaaS.

Sony Has Delayed Half Of Its Planned PlayStation Live Service Games

Sony announced it was acquiring Destiny 2 maker Bungie for $3.6 billion in January of 2022. A week later, in a quarterly financial results briefing, Sony CFO Hiroki Totoki revealed that PlayStation planned to launch more than 10 live service games by March 2026, with Bungie helping the company in the space. In an earnings call held today, Totoki stated that of its 12 live service games, it will only release six by Fiscal Year 2025, which ends March 2026, as reported by VideoGamesChronicle.

Destiny 2 Season of the Wish answers a long-running Destiny mystery

Though Destiny 2 is no stranger to mysteries both big and small, none of them have ever been quite as popular as the infamous 15th wish from the Forsaken-era Last Wish raid. The Axe Drops on Gaming’s Acquisitions Gold Rush
