The sequel to Insomniac Games’ hit superhero game launched to rave reviews and massive support from fans in October and players are still enjoying the title and discussing the franchise. Observers are already speculating about possible Peter Parker storylines for Spider-Man 3, and plenty of gamers are already waiting for DLC for the current entry.

Spider-Man 2's big post-launch update has been delayed to early 2024. In a tweet, developer Insomniac Games confirmed that the team needed more time to ensure a high-quality product, but will include a range of additional features. Many processes go into making video games, and a byproduct of that is that not everything planned gets used in the final product. Many video game developers can tell you about cut levels, shelved ideas, and how they had to “rework things” to get a final product that they were really proud of. For Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, they were so dedicated to getting the sequel to their hit PS4 title ready that they didn’t talk about it for almost two years after its announcement. Marvel built its comic book revolution on the back of one idea: rendering colorful superheroes as relatable. In the mid 20th century, DC do-gooders were essentially square-jawed Sunday school teachers, which let Marvel corner the market on heroes with human depth and fragility. The spin-off title isn't quite as long as its predecessor, but it still manages to juggle a handful of villains. ' villain slate is comparatively modest, clocking in at a total of five, but this smaller cast works for the benefit of the spin-off's runtime and the constraints of its narrative.
