LawBreakers — the hero shooter from Cliff 'CliffyB' Bleszinski that was shut down after a poor launch — is making a bit of a comeback thanks to a group of dedicated fans.

Cliff Bleszinski’ LawBreakers appears to be making a comeback, thanks to a group of modders who have been working hard to restore the game's online features.

Gaming saw a rise in team-based hero shooters from 2016 through 2018, with games like Overwatch, Battleborn, and LawBreakers as notable standouts. Lawbreakers is long gone, but an unofficial fan project aims to revive it, making it playable for the first time in six years.

LawBreakers, the infamous hero-oriented first-person-shooter, is making a comeback years after its release, thanks to a group of fans. While LawBreakers died rather quickly after release, the game was able to create quite a small but dedicated player base, so much so that a group of fans teamed up to bring back the action-packed shooter.

LawBreakers was a game that might have made a bit of a splash initially but died out quickly. If you don’t recall, this FPS hero shooter came out in 2017. The game didn’t live on very long, as it was shut down just a year later. But you might have another chance to enjoy this game with players online. That’s all due to a small team working to bring this game back up through makeshift servers. 

Five years after LawBreakers shut down, we're getting to play the gravity-defying multiplayer FPS again thanks to fans. LawBreakers was the first game from Boss Key Productions, a studio co-founded by Gears Of Wars lead designer Cliff Bleszinski, and it had delightful ultraviolence beneath its uninspiring genric look. Alas, it did not sell well. Boss Key closed less than a year after launch, and the game soon followed. But after years of work, a group of fans this weekend successfully ran the first public test for a workaround to play the game again. While there's no clear launch plan yet, more playtesting will follow.

An unofficial fan-made launcher for Lawbreakers has made the game playable again for the first time in six years.

Game designer, sometime Gears of War frontman and nowadays, comic book author Cliff Bleszinski would very much like Epic to make another Jazz Jackrabbit. In case you're unfamiliar, or disgracefully young, Jazz Jackrabbit was a platform game for MS-DOS, published in 1994 - it was Bleszinski's first project as a designer for then-named Epic MegaGames. He worked on the game alongside coder Arjan Brussee, who would later found Guerrilla Games before moving to Visceral Studios and finally, reuniting with Bleszinski to launch Bosskey Productions, the ill-fated creator of the generally rather decent Lawbreakers.
