October is here and the month brings a non-stop train of game releases. It is perhaps the busiest month in gaming this year, with major titles fighting for space in the tight window of four weeks. Kicking off things on October 5 is Assassin's Creed Mirage, Ubisoft's next chapter in the long-running assassin's saga. This time, the game opts to shrink its scope and return to its roots with a more stealth and assassinations-based approach. The last three AC titles had adhered to a Witcher 3-style expansive RPG style, drawing criticism for open-world bloat.

They say that “clothes make the man” or woman; both are fair to use here. But no matter your clothes, they’ll likely never compare to the stylish outfits superheroes adorn while in the field. Technically speaking, the costumes of superheroes only matter a slight bit in their fight against crime. Some of their outfits are meant to invoke a feeling in others they save or ones they fight. Sometimes, they’re a key layer of protection against foes, and sometimes, they like to have a “unified” look with their teammates. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have numerous outfits for your Spider-Men to wear, no matter your style.

OK, this is a big one. Marvel has been teasing The Amazing Spider-Man #35 for months now as being the issue that will steer the course of Peter Parker's adventures for the next couple of years. 

My most anticipated game for this year is almost here with Spider-Man 2, and to help celebrate the launch, Sony Interactive Entertainment is proud to debut and share its new cinematic spot for the latest adventure in the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise. When Insomniac created a version of the Marvel universe for their title with Spider-Man, many wondered just how “intertwined” the video game would be with the Marvel-616 comics universe. As we would find out in Marvel’s Spider-Man…it wasn’t that intertwined at all. For example, instead of showing the origins of Peter Parker, they skipped eight years into his career, where he had already faced many villains and put several away, including Kingpin, at the start of the game. Norman Osborne was the mayor of New York City and NOT the Green Goblin, and Peter was working side-by-side with his mentor, Dr. Otto Octavius.

Standalone Expansions, half-sequels, glorified DLC… whatever you want to call it, I’m a fan of these kinds of not-quite-full game, not-quite-DLC experiences. And with AAA game development now expected to take longer than ever, these half-sequels might be a way to address a potential new release shortage. So far nobody has done them better than PlayStation.

Somy Spider-Man fans are still a bit displeased that Insomniac Games didn’t stick with the face that protagonist Peter Parker had in the series’ first instalment. In 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the character was given a completely new face, while his face was also retroactively changed in Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, which released at the same time, with the developer stating that the new facial model was a better match for actor Yuri Lowenthal, who plays the character, allowing for better facial capture.

Hasbro's annual Pulse Con is here again. The highly anticipated sequel seems to have much more for players to enjoy, from a New York map that's almost doubled in size with the inclusion of Queens and Brooklyn to the ability to play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, swapping between them instantly across the open world and optimizing a variety of gadgets and special abilities across both heroes.

Last week further cemented the hype around Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, as a duo of trailers brought forth information about the 65 suits you’ll be able to put onto Peter Parker or Miles Morales as they attempt to save the city, the digital deluxe exclusives you can get, and the massive amount of stuff to do in New York City. However, that wasn’t the only piece of information that fans got. A demo went around for certain people; through this, more insight was brought about the Symbiote Suit and the “catalyst” villain for the game, Kraven The Hunter.

Insomniac Games has let slip a new trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 where they detail new gameplay changes show off a greatly expanded map for the sequel. The new map is significantly larger, presumably to accommodate all the new powers and to make room for two Spider-heroes swinging about at once.

Insomniac Games has had busy couple of decades. The American developer has been making beloved video games since 1994 — the hands and minds behind early PlayStation classics like Spyro the Dragon and Ratchet & Clank — but past few years have seen the studio take on a different beast altogether. It started with 2018's Marvel's Spider-Man, a Game of the Year nominee that brought back the iconic web-crawling superhero into the gaming spotlight. Spider-Man 2 just got a new gameplay trailer at the PlayStation State of Play event, held late Thursday, dropping new details about its exploration, side quests, and new tech. Game director Bryan Intihar kicked things off by comparing its open-world experience to the 2018 prequel, noting how the map has nearly doubled in size, expanding past the East River to include the Queens and Brooklyn boroughs. To compensate for the distance, both Spider-Men — Peter Parker and Miles Morales — are equipped with deployable Web Wings that let them swiftly glide across the city. Indeed, these can be used in tandem with web-swinging by alternating between the two for increased momentum.

Insomniac Games has shared an interesting little tidbit about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s Digital Deluxe Edition exclusive extra suits.

Both andhad several alternate suits for people to unlock and fight crime across New York, and will be no different. The suits in the game are inspired by all forms of media, from the comics in which the superheroes originated to movies such as or Sam Raimi's trilogy, and include several original designs made specifically for each game.

Sony has confirmed that Spider-Man 2 on PS5 will feature over 65 suits to unlock and use during the game's lengthy story mode. 

During the September 2023 State of Play aired a few hours ago, Sony and Insomniac Games showed off the expanded New York City available in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Distinct progress and fast travel have also gotten a new lick of paint.
