Throughout , the life of the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, is put in perilous jeopardy on numerous occasions. The web-shooting, wall-climbing superhero has seemingly never been so vulnerable in any of his previous bouts, including the showdown with the Sinister Six in Insomniac's first title. Despite the plethora of threats in, Peter is a remarkably resilient character, though at one point his toughness and durability are tested to the extreme. Though an iconic figure, he is far from immortal, a fact that has led many to wonder what happens to Spider-Man in — could he really be killed by Kraven or Venom?

Peter Parker is a veteran superhero and more than familiar with the extensive list of potentially deadly occupational hazards that come with his great power; however, never has it been so acutely obvious that the requisite great responsibilities that come with his power could realistically involve the sacrifice of his own life in order to ensure the continued safety of his city, his friends, and his loved ones. A masterpiece of video game design, storytelling, and gameplay,, offers fans of the enduringly popular franchise a storyline that truly takes its two Spider-Men to their limits.

Early in, Peter's life is mostly not in extreme danger; however, there are a number of occasions where he could have fallen victim to the occupational hazards of being a superhero in New York. His and Miles' battle against Sandman, though not particularly difficult for the player, puts Peter in harm's way — most notably during the cut scene in which a giant Sandman rips Peter out of a building and begins to crush him in his enormous hand before dropping him several stories. Peter is only saved by his quick wits and the assistance of Miles. Failing that, things could have turned out very badly for Spider-Man.

Though Peter sees some danger during the chaos at Coney Island, for a while after the Sandman battle, the figure most at risk is typically Miles; however, this all changes when Kraven the Hunter reaches New York City. Following reaching New York, Kraven is hell-bent on hunting the most dangerous game in the city; after a while, he turns his attention to Peter and Miles. Though he has numerous earlier run-ins with Kraven's men, their rivalry culminates in a battle that puts the combined force of Harry and Peter up against Kraven and his hordes of men.

Miles plays an enormous role in ; however, he is, throughout large sections of the game, overshadowed by Peter Parker and can come off feeling like a secondary character rather than a joint protagonist of equal importance. Though Peter is the original Spider-Man and, therefore, has decades of fan recognition, Miles Morales has, in recent years, become just as popular and widely beloved as his friend and mentor, both in the comics, as well as the film and video game adaptions. Although Miles doesn't solely possess the spotlight in the latest installment of Insomniacs' games, he does go through a lot.

Considering how successful Insomniac Games’ first two Spider-Man games (Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales) were, it wasn’t going to be difficult to convince fans to purchase the sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, on release day. With the highly anticipated new title, the studio takes everything they’ve learned from their previous superhero games and pushes the envelope even further with a slew of exciting features that fans of the franchise have been eagerly waiting for. So, before we even get into the details, it’s safe to say Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is everything you hoped for and more. It’s a masterpiece and easily the best game the PS5 has to offer so far.
