With as much hype and success as they had with this game release, it wasn’t surprising to see more remakes released. Resident Evil 4 is the latest release for the franchise and is also a remake. Capcom’s and GungHo Online’s card battling game Teppen just got a new expansion. Launched on December 27, “Absolute Zero” continues the game’s ongoing crossover narrative. The card pack introduces Lost Planet and Mega Man Zero characters to a roster that already includes faces from franchises like Resident Evil, Ace Attorney, and Monster Hunter. Teppen’s new cards include “Leon S. Kennedy,” “Cyber-Elf Ada,” “Luka” and “Revived Tyrant Copy X MK. II.”

Something would need to go seriously wrong during development for Capcom to mess up its remake of one of the best games of all time, but that shouldn't take away from what Resident Evil 4 is in 2023: an outstanding achievement that's still the pinnacle of horror meets action. Faithfully bringing back the original campaign for the modern era, this PS5, PS4 remake goes above and beyond with new content, better combat, and elite graphics. It is a remaking masterclass from the Japanese heavyweight that ensures Resident Evil 4 remains one of the greatest games ever made — and still one that can compete for accolades such as Game of the Year.

Even with the story racing to a conclusion, you’ll find plenty of places to stop and search for treasure.

Resident Evil 4 sure knows how to set the tone: the remake’s intro sees Leon slowly advancing through creepy woods and rotting, ominous houses, culminating in the horrifying crescendo that is the infamous village attack. But with that groundwork already laid, The Separate Ways DLC has no need for such a slow build-up, and smartly wastes very little time shifting into high gear: we’re put up against an extremely imposing boss mere minutes after taking control of Ada Wong, the star of this show. In fact, though it only took me just over four hours to complete this side story’s seven chapters, Separate Ways rarely wastes a moment of your time, and proves to be a highly entertaining roller coaster that includes some very satisfying new takes on ideas from its original 2005 inspiration.

Fans of the Resident Evil franchise might be ready for a new helping of the franchise. The video game series’ most recent installment is Resident Evil 4. This is a remake of the classic and beloved installment of the series. However, upon its release, fans found that this game didn’t include a side campaign that had been released prior called Separate Ways. It was soon speculated that Capcom would deliver this campaign in the form of DLC later. Fortunately, that proved the case as we got word of the Separate Ways DLC during this month’s PlayStation State of Play. Best of all, the announcement confirmed that the DLC would also land in the marketplace this month.

Pretty much since the remake of Resident Evil 4 was released in March (yes, it’s been six months since it launched), fans have been clamoring for the “Separate Ways” DLC. The upcoming expansion was confirmed during Sony’s State of Play, and now a new trailer has been doing the rounds.

Back when Resident Evil 4 Remake launched, many of use were quick to dive in and see exactly what Capcom had changed compared to the original. Some were slightly bummed out that Capcom decided to remove a lot of the goofier elements, including all of the quick time events, the chase scene with Salazar's big concrete robot, and the infamous laser corridor scene which had Leon doing backflips and other acrobatics to avoid being sliced up.

Dino Crisis 2 turns 23 today and, to celebrate this milestone, the official Capcom Twitter posted a picture of the game. While that might seem innocuous, fans have been demanding a remake for years now. So, unsurprisingly, the comments and quote retweets are flooded with people asking, 'Where Dino Crisis?'

Eduard Badaluta, the face model for Leon Kennedy in the Resident Evil 2 and 4 remakes, is calling on fan accounts to be deleted. In comments that have since been removed, Badaluta says these fans are running "piece of shit accounts", and says that he "doesn't need" fan accounts in the first place.

There is no shortage of Resident Evil fans hungry for something new to enjoy. The video game franchise has thrived over the years and most recently found a new market with remakes. With the likes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 being hits for fans, it was only recently that fans could continue with this trend. However, the game didn’t release entirely, as fans have been waiting on the secondary campaign to emerge. 

Resident Evil 4 DLC might be on its way sooner than we expected, as survival horror game developer Capcom implements some changes to RE4 on Steam, updating the shooter for some possible new material. Naturally, we’re expecting the Ada Wong-led campaign Separate Ways, which was not originally included as part of Resident Evil 4 Remake. But the Steam updates could also be connected to new material for the Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries minigame.

Capcom has been in the headlines a bit lately. For instance, the company recently acquired Swordcanes Studio. Likewise, if you didn’t catch the reports yesterday, Capcom has had quite a successful decade. A new report shows investors could be keen on getting into Capcom shares. Bloomberg reported that Capcom shares are up and have had a 1,200% surge over the past decade. This surge has been due to a few factors that allowed Capcom to thrive in the markets. With some solid IPs and ventures into the cinematic medium, the company doesn’t appear to have any problem making a profit.

Resident Evil fans rejoice as we have something new to share. Don’t get too excited. It’s not a new video game or the expansion DLC we’re waiting on with Resident Evil 4.
