Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC: All Weapons (& How To Unlock Them)

In the Separate Ways DLC for the , Ada Wong gets a fair share of weapons to find and choose from throughout the seven chapters. There are twelve weapons throughout the DLC, with Ada starting with a basic pistol, a submachine gun, and a tactical knife similar to her main story counterpart. The weapons are always a key part of any game, so understanding the options and where to find them are essential.

"Is This Price Too Low?" - Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC Review

The for is a nice reason to return to one of 2023's best remakes, but it isn't really worth buying unless you're just really, really invested in what Ada was doing the whole time. It's more, and if the prospect of that excites you then there is absolutely no reason not to check it out. Weird that it costs $9.99 now when it originally came for free with every copy of though (barring the original GameCube release, which didn't get it at all).

Resident Evil 4’s laser hallway gets the biggest upgrade in remake DLC

Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake wasn’t a one-to-one recreation of the 2005 GameCube original. Multiple sequences, like the ridiculous Robo-Salazar battle, were reimagined, while other moments were cut altogether. One of the more devastating cuts for the Resident Evil 4 remake was the infamous laser room, in which Leon S. Kennedy dodges and backflips through an array of instant-kill laser beams.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Separate Ways DLC Review

As fantastic as Resident Evil 4’s remake is, one of the most conspicuous absences from its original release was Ada Wong’s side story – it was such a key part of the HD version of the original game, after all. Thankfully, in this age of delays and over-hype, we haven’t had to wait too long for Capcom to complete the story, and the quality and replayability of this version of Separate Ways has been well worth the wait.

Review: Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways DLC

The Resident Evil 4 remake is my Game of the Year so far; no question about it. Even then, I was worried that the Separate Ways DLC wouldn’t quite deliver.

Resident Evil 4 “Separate Ways” DLC Walks a Bolder Path than the Core Game

Capcom has been on a killer streak with Resident Evil in recent years, releasing one banger after another, but if there’s one weakness in their game, it’s DLC. Granted, games like Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village got some fun story add-ons, but they were pretty lightweight. Meanwhile, some games, like the Resident Evil 3 remake, haven’t received any DLC at all. That said, Capcom may have changed their ways with the just-released Resident Evil 4 “Separate Ways” DLC.

Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways DLC Review

Resident Evil 4 sure knows how to set the tone: the remake’s intro sees Leon slowly advancing through creepy woods and rotting, ominous houses, culminating in the horrifying crescendo that is the infamous village attack. But with that groundwork already laid, The Separate Ways DLC has no need for such a slow build-up, and smartly wastes very little time shifting into high gear: we’re put up against an extremely imposing boss mere minutes after taking control of Ada Wong, the star of this show. In fact, though it only took me just over four hours to complete this side story’s seven chapters, Separate Ways rarely wastes a moment of your time, and proves to be a highly entertaining roller coaster that includes some very satisfying new takes on ideas from its original 2005 inspiration.

Fortunately, that proved the case as we got word of the Separate Ways DLC during this month’s PlayStation State of Play. Resident Evil 4's Separate Ways DLC Brings Back Original's Iconic Laser Corridor

Back when Resident Evil 4 Remake launched, many of use were quick to dive in and see exactly what Capcom had changed compared to the original. Some were slightly bummed out that Capcom decided to remove a lot of the goofier elements, including all of the quick time events, the chase scene with Salazar's big concrete robot, and the infamous laser corridor scene which had Leon doing backflips and other acrobatics to avoid being sliced up.
