Developer Steel City Interactive and publisher Deep Silver have announced that their boxing game, Undisputed, will be leaving early access on PC on October 11. Ubisoft has provided extensive updates on its upcoming titles for the fiscal year, primarily Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Star Wars Outlaws. In its full-year 2023-24 earnings release, the publisher confirmed that both titles would receive “updates” at Ubisoft Forward on June 10th.

Ubisoft Quebec is leading development on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but as with previous Ubisoft titles, multiple other studios are providing support. As noted on the game’s official website, the open-world action RPG has the likes of Ubisoft Belgrade, Ubisoft Bordeaux, Ubisoft Bucharest, Ubisoft Chengdu and more involved.

If the new cinematic trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows didn’t provide enough about the open-world action RPG, a new breakdown is available that goes into more detail. Creative director Jonathan Dumont and assistant director of cinematic design Akim Milne talk about the presentation, including the use of split screens in the trailer and the game’s setting.

After the PlayStation Store listing for Assassin’s Creed Shadows indicated online play is “required,” Ubisoft has clarified that an internet connection isn’t mandatory at all times. It also confirmed that players can play the open-world title offline.

Amid some of the positive buzz for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft’s next mainline title in the franchise comes issues. According to its PlayStation Store listing, online play is “required,” which means you’ll need to connect to the internet to play it. Contrast this to last year’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, where online play is “optional.”

Amid all the news and details about Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft revealed that it’s stopped development on The Division Heartland. Its full-year 2023/2024 earnings report stated that resources were “redeployed” for “bigger opportunities” like XDefiant andRainbow Six.

After a short period in the Steam Beta Branch, Starfield’s latest update is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S. As the largest update yet for the space-faring RPG, it features multiple new features and sweeping changes. For example, surface maps on planets are vastly improved, denoting points of interest. It even outlines all the vendors in cities to fast travel to.

If it’s not enough that Assassin’s Creed Shadows provides two playable characters, a fully dynamic lighting system and recruitable allies, there are seasons. Players will experience Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter as they progress through the campaign. However, they’re far from aesthetic and directly affect the gameplay.

While Assassin’s Creed Shadows is an open-world action RPG like Odyssey and Valhalla, it’s also leaning heavier into stealth and parkour with new protagonist Naoe. Speaking to IGN, game director Charles Benoit says the team wanted to keep the “core” of Assassin’s Creed, specifically “the hidden blade, the assassination, being able to stay hidden.”

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows looks like a big game, especially since it’s the next mainline open-world title in the franchise, but how does it compare to previous entries? Speaking to IGN, creative director Jonathan Dumont said it’s similar in scale to 2017’s Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Frontier Developments has announced that F1 Manager 2024 will be coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on July 23. The game will be available digitally, and is priced at $34.99. Pre-orders for the game have also been started.

Capcom has released a new trailer for the latest set of cosmetic DLCs coming to Street Fighter 6. The DLC will bring with it the third set of DLC outfits, which will be available for Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma. The new set of outfits will be coming to Street Fighter 6 on May 22.

With Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 less than one week from release, Ninja Theory has revealed launch timings for the sequel on Twitter. It goes live on May 21st for Xbox Series X/S and PC at 1 AM PDT, so those living on the West Coast in the United States will see it pop up early.

Sony has been quite successful with the PS5. According to the Sony’s recent earnings reports, courtesy of analyst Daniel Ahmad, the company sold around 4.5 million units of the PS5 over the last quarter. For a larger picture, around 59.2 million units of the PS5 were sold in totality as of the end of the previous financial year on March 31, 2024.

Pocket Pair has released a new update for Palworld, currently live on PC and coming soon to Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One. It offers several balance adjustments, like increasing the HP for all Alpha and Lucky Pals by 1.2. Breeding eggs also have a “slight chance” to yield an Alpha Pal, providing more of a reason to pursue them.

Developer Galvanic Games and publisher Devolver Digital have released a new update for action-adventure title Wizard with a Gun. In light of its recently-revealed new mid-term business plans, Square Enix has now confirmed that it has cancelled games that didn’t align with its new strategy. In its latest earnings report (via VGC), the company has confirmed that a number of unannounced titles were cancelled, and that its profits being 70 percent lower than last year were a result of these cancellations.

Square Enix has announced a new business plan. Over the course of the next three years, the company is going to start “foundation-laying for long-term growth,” according to its recent earnings report. The business plan, apparently going into effect this year, will be in effect until the fiscal year ending on March 1, 2027.

With the Xbox Games Showcase less than a month away, rumors circulated about what could appear. Gears 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War are favorites, but The Initiative’s Perfect Dark may be another. Ninja Theory’s long-awaited sequel to Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, is out next week. It sees Senua venturing to Viking Iceland to mete out justice while still dealing with her psychosis, manifesting as “The Furies.” In a new video, the development team discusses psychosis alongside several experts and how it’s depicted in-game.

Turn 10 Studios has made great strides over the previous few months to address concerns with Forza Motorsport, like revamping car progression to unlock all parts at level 1. Its next update, which goes live sometime this week, will tweak Safety Ratings and their calculations, starting with bumping the required races to 20 from 10.

Xbox president Sarah Bond has responded to some of the criticisms faced by the company in the wake of its recent decisions to shutter a bunch of development studios, laying off employees in the process. In an interview with Bloomberg, Bond referred to the decision as one made to ensure the health of Xbox as a business.

Indie developer Evil Raptor has teamed up with PLAION to reveal a first teaser trailer for the upcoming action-adventure shooter Akimbot, which has already received positive response among audiences for its likeness to Ratchet and Clank. After revealing that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League fell short of expectations, Warner Bros. Discovery announced a $200 million impact on revenue due to the game’s failure. The company suffered an impairment charge, with studio revenue dropping by 12 percent year over year to $2.8 billion, per its Q1 2024 results.

Developer DON’T NOD and publisher Focus Entertainment have announced that narrative role-playing game Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden now has a free demo for players to try out before buying the game. Announced through a post on social media platform X, the demo is available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Publisher Warner Bros. Games and developer Player First Games have announced that Joker will join the playable roster of fighting game MultiVersus. The announcement was made with a cinematic trailer, which you can check out below. Joker will be available in MultiVersus when the game launches on May 28.

Along with updated sales numbers for Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom also revealed that Dragon’s Dogma 2 has sold 2.62 million copies as of March 31st, 2024. The open-world action RPG was first announced to have sold over 2.5 million copies.

Capcom has released its financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2024, providing updated sales numbers for its biggest games. This includes Resident Evil 4 remake, previously confirmed to have sold over seven million units but now with a more concrete figure – 7.02 million.

Video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella has revealed that growth for video game subscriptions has been stalled. According to Piscatella, spending on non-mobile game subscriptions only rose by 1 percent compared to April 2023.

Street Fighter 6 has been a smash hit for Capcom, and the Japanese gaming giant is already hard at work on post-launch content for the same. It was previously announced that franchise favourite character Akuma would be coming to the game as a playable character. While previously alleged for May, the gameplay reveal of Assassin’s Creed Codename Red is seemingly happening at Ubisoft Forward on June 10th. Sources speaking to Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson revealed that press and content creators will go hands-on with it during the Summer Games Fest week, with the embargo ending on June 12th.

Developer Evil Raptor and publisher Plaion have announced a new third-person action title, Akimbot. Slated for release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Akimbot will be out later this year. Microsoft has been catching flak after the closure of Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin, Roundhouse Studios and Alpha Dog Studios. While Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty assured employees of upcoming Bethesda releases in an internal email, its other projects are an entirely different matter. The Initiative’s Perfect Dark, announced in December 2020, is a good example.

Electronic Arts has revealed that it is planning on releasing two currently-unannounced titles before the end of the current fiscal year. For context, the fiscal year is set to end on March 31, 2025. As caught by VideoGamesChronicle, the company made the announcement through an update to its product release slate.

With Arkane Austin shutting down and the previous update or Redfall being its last, players who own the Hero Pass won’t have anything to look forward to. Servers are also online for now, but the promised offline mode is also not happening. Despite the lack of updates on future content, IGN reports that the developer was working on a roadmap before its closure.

Iron Gate Studio has rolled out update v0.218.14 for Valheim's public test build, encompassing tweaks to building pieces, food recipes, enemy spawning mechanics, and more. Additionally, this Valheim update is packed with a plethora of fixes and improvements across various aspects of the game.

Alan Wake 2, Control developer Remedy has announced that it has cancelled its multiplayer project, codenamed Kestrel. The studio has revealed that it will instead be focusing more on its existing franchises. According to the announcement, Kestrel had started development in November 2023, and was a reboot of previous project, Vanguard.

Spike Chunsoft has announced that Master Detective Archives: Rain Code+ will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on July 18. Making the announcement on social media platform X, the announcement is accompanied with a short trailer with characters from the game speaking with each other.

Developer Starward Industries has released a new update for its narrative adventure game The Invincible. The update, dubbed the Voyager update, has a new trailer that you can check out below. Among the features of the Voyager update are the addition of dynamic camera views for when the player is riding the rover, allowing players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives.

Ubisoft’s Rocksmith+ has proven to be a great source of learning music through play for fans across the globe, and the game will finally be making its way to Steam after being available on PC via the Ubisoft Store. In an announcement made on May 7, Xbox stated that it is ending all development on Redfall. In the same memo, Xbox also announced the closure of Arkane Austin, the developer of the game. Redfall’s developer wasn’t the only studio shut down, as several others are also shutting their doors.

Redfall celebrated its first anniversary recently, with fans questioning the lack of information on DLC characters promised with the Hero Pass. With Microsoft shutting down Arkane Austin, the co-op shooter’s November update is the last, and development has officially ceased.

Wizard with a Gun launched to its fair share of acclaim last year, but though it’s been a few months since its release, developer Galvanic Games is continuing to support the roguelike twin-stick shooter. Since release, Wizard with a Gun has supported two-player co-op, but soon, that cap will be increasing.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has made lofty promises with the little that it’s been shown off so far, with its crunching, brutal combat looking to recapture the vibe of its acclaimed predecessor. A lot of that will, of course, will come through the game’s campaign – which can be played both solo and co-op – but will a PvP multiplayer component also be on offer? After, all, PvP in the original Space Marine was quite a fan-favourite, so will its sequel follow in its footsteps?

Bandai Namco’s SAND LAND, developed by ILCA of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl fame, is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and PC. NetherRealm has released the first trailer for Mortal Kombat 1’s next DLC character, Homelander from The Boys. It’s pretty faithful to the character (right down to the milk), but that’s not all fans have to look forward to. On Twitter, director Ed Boon also teased the addition of character skins based on the 1995 Mortal Kombat film.

Even with updates, Arkane Austin’s Redfall remains an underwhelming release. However, after celebrating its first anniversary on May 2nd, it’s worth noting that fans still haven’t received the characters promised as part of the Hero Pass.
