Honkai Impact 3rd, HoYoverse’s ARPG, will see the release of its Part 2 update later this week on February 29. The update will send players on an adventure to Mars with a host of new characters, maps, combat, and monsters.

In the immersive storytelling between Dragonheir: Silent Gods and Dungeons & Dragons, the legendary ranger Drizzt Do'Urden successfully thwarted his nemesis, Errtu the Balor, in the first phase of the storyline. As the adventure moves into its second phase, two arcane masters from Dungeons & Dragons, Elminster Aumar and Sammaster, will debut on February 23rd, offering players an exciting showdown.

2021 was stacked for JRPGs, yet Shin Megami Tensei 5 still managed to win a spot in my personal picks for the year alongside the likes of Bravely Default 2 and Tales of Arise. So it's immensely exciting to see Atlus giving the game a shot in the arm with Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, an expanded re-release of sorts that should sound familiar to anyone who played Persona 5 Royal. 

Deep in the pastoral county of Dorset in the south of England, Jake Birkett (also known as Grey Alien Games) toils away making a very specific kind of game. He arranges playing cards in pleasing tableaux on the screen, and invites the player to clear them by clicking on them in ascending or descending numerical order; it’s his personal evolution of the TriPeaks solitaire variant. He ensures the clicking is crisp and satisfying, and arranges fun game mechanics and a light storyline — often written by his partner Helen Carmichael — around this deeply satisfying core.

As with all video game adaptations, there has been some heated discourse surrounding the Borderlands film. Directed by horror icon, Eli Roth, the film struggled through development before finally being slated for release in 2024. Borderlands is based on the widely popular sci-fi first-person shooter of the same name and is admittedly not the easiest property to adapt. The first game is largely considered the weakest, with only a general overarching plot and no emotional character arc. Borderlands 2 is an entirely different matter, and that has a lot to do with the villainy of charismatic dictator, Handsome Jack.

Selina Kyle's life has taken a very different turn of late. Last year's Gotham War storyline saw Catwoman and Batman come to blows over her radical plan to reduce violent crime in the city by turning the city's goons into elite cat burglars who only stole from the rich. It didn't quite work out, especially when Vandal Savage used it as an opportunity to try and seize power.

Final Fantasy VII Remake set the tone for what players could expect from this three-part retelling of the beloved 1997 Square RPG. The excellent updates to the combat system, the fantastic expansions on character relationships, and the stellar production values told us Square Enix is not taking the responsibility of remaking one of its most iconic games lightly. However, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth looks to take several components of the experience to the next level, largely thanks to its emphasis on side content.

Tekken 8 is the next entry in one of gaming's longest-running storylines, with the Mishima family's successional feud stretching back three whole decades, but the series is still introducing all-new fighters after all this time. 

When Final Fantasy VII launched on PlayStation in 1997, it revolutionized the RPG genre and gaming as a whole. The transition from pixel art to fully animated computer graphics was a massive enough leap ahead, but the beauty of this classic title was much more than skin deep. Final Fantasy VII features an incredible cast of characters, an outstanding battle system, and a story that evokes joy, awe, anger, and grief. Final Fantasy VII is well-established as one of the most iconic and beloved video games of all time, but for Square Enix, the legacy is somewhat more important.

Final Fantasy 7's original developers have admitted the original game's production was so chaotic that they knew things had to change going forward for future games in the series.

There are quite a few fans out there who are eager to dive into the next season of The Last of Us. With Naughty Dog delivering such a compelling storyline with the game series, it was likely quite an easy adaptation to deliver on HBO. As a result, fans have taken up with the show without ever playing through the games. Fortunately, because of how popular it became initially, HBO was prompted to go through a renewal for a second season during the airing of the first season. Recently, we got word of who will step into Abby’s role. Now, we are learning who will step up to take on the role of Jesse. 

Aether Gazer v2.0 update just dropped today (January 9th). Titled ‘Crepuscular Cloudsong,’ it’s packed some serious punch, with new skins, banners and more. The storyline is getting a major expansion with Chapter 13. Now, you’ll be fighting tougher enemies. You’ll also have more mysteries to solve and dive deeper into the game’s lore.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was released last year and quickly became one of the most talked about games in quite some time. It’s a title that fans have gravitated towards and shared their enjoyment online. With unique characters, a thrilling storyline, and plenty of means to go back and replay the campaign, it’s not surprising to see clips and screenshots flood the web. However, there was an issue for Xbox users who found that their uploads were causing their accounts to be suspended. At first, this was thought to be an issue with some kind of automated system in place. 

Fans have been waiting for more information about this upcoming second season of The Last of Us. The video game was such a massive hit and a thrilling storyline that when HBO adapted the series, it was met with much of the same fanfare. Viewers couldn’t get enough of this incredible journey featuring Joel and Ellie. Because of this show’s popularity, HBO quickly ordered a second season as the first season aired. While fans enjoyed the show and watched the finale, those who played the game knew what was in store for the second season.

Can I make a confession? It took me about a month to get through the third act of Baldur's Gate 3. Not because it was particularly challenging or—relative to the acts that preceded it—especially long, but because the second I arrived in Rivington I felt compelled to put the game down and go do something else for a while.

Supermassive Games has made quite a name for itself. After the success of Until Dawn, the studio has continued with similar gameplay experiences. We’ve seen the team bring out titles like The Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of games that played out similar to Until Dawn. However, you might be surprised to learn that Until Dawn was not the original development team responsible for getting this project off the ground. Instead, the developer responsible initially for this horror game was Sony’s London Studio. 

As promised, the future of Fate/Samurai Remnant was revealed during a special Fate broadcast on New Year's Eve (and we're only just covering it now because… well, we were too busy sleeping off all of the alcohol we consumed). The action RPG is getting three rounds of DLC in 2024, with the first, titled Keian Command Championship, launching in February.

In 2020, the Yakuza series took a bit of a leap with its seventh entry, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The lens shifted away from longtime series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu to newcomer Kasuga Ichiban, swapping out its real-time action for turn-based RPG combat in the process. It was, by most accounts, a rousing success. But there was still room to grow.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealthis full of color and joy but, true to previous installments in the series, the upcoming role-playing game (RPG) from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio doesn't shy away from tougher themes, too. 

Kiryu Kazuma and Kasuga Ichiban are two sides of the same Like a Dragon coin. Their personalities could not be more different — Kiryu, a world-weary lone wolf, and Kasuga, a Dragon Quest-loving golden retriever — but they live by a similar code of ethics and share a similar past, both locked up for crimes they didn't commit to help out their yakuza families. It was a bummer that Kiryu didn't stick around longer when he came around in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The two men would sure as hell have a lot to talk about.

Baldur's Gate 3isn't just known for its thrilling storylines and memorable characters. Larian Studios' award-winning fantasy role-playing game (RPG) includes plenty of steamy romance scenes, too; recordings of which have reportedly gotten Xbox players in hot water, leading to bans for at least one user (via Dexerto).

With Season 2 of Diablo 4 soon coming to a close, what can we expect with Season 3, and when is the release date?

RoboCop certainly has its fanbase, and that community might have just grown a bit. With the release of RoboCop: Rogue City, players could step into the mean streets of Detroit as the robotic cop we’ve come to know and love. Developed under Teyon, the game was a brand new original storyline for players to jump into, with the actor Peter Weller stepping back into the role of the iconic character. However, you’re in luck if you finished the game and are not ready to part ways from Old Detroit. A New Game Plus mode is coming soon. 

Most players are now several realms deep in God of War Ragnarok, which against all odds is receiving just as much praise as the 2018 reboot.

In an official blog post, Blizzard confirmed the next update for World of Warcraft: Dragonflight will drop on January 16. Titled Seeds of Renewal, the update brings a handful of new content to the popular MMORPG as well as concludes the current storyline campaign of the Dragon Isles.

Fortnite fans think they've spotted some hints that indicate that Chapter 5 is actually a remake of Chapter 2, from the strange focus on Peely again to a mineral-based villain.

Not content with aping Animal Crossing in its off-the-wall island building minigame, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will also add a Pokémon-inspired experience to its ever-expanding list of things to do. Sujimon, as its known, will see you collecting eclectic characters from all around Hawaii, and training them to create the ultimate team. Your goal is to dethrone the existing champions of the Sujimon battle world: the Discreet Four and the Sujimon Master.

Tinyfolks has just gone on sale on the Play Store from £3.49 to 0.99p! This little pixel game features a bunch of, you guessed it, Tiny Folk! In this little pixel experience, you are tasked with training your folks for combat and upgrading your town.

Until my early 20s, I believed I was a “normal” sex-haver. I assumed any guilt or repulsion I felt after intimacy was a universal experience. It wasn’t until a year ago that, after hearing me mention that I had repeatedly dissociated after kissing various Tinder dates, my friend said: “You know what asexuality is, right?” I stuttered, offended; of course I knew what it meant, but only in that “jock calling the nerd asexual because he won’t ever get laid” way. She called my bluff and showed me a video from an asexual YouTuber who echoed many of my secret opinions about dating and intimacy. This set me on the path to find as many video essays about asexuality as possible, which explained that I wasn’t broken or in need of the “right person”; my love would just come from somewhere besides sex. Any blueprints for where I might find it or what that love might be instead were a mystery, as I quickly found that asexual representation in media is an absolute travesty.

When CD Projekt Red unveiled Cyberpunk 2077, there was a ton of hype around it. Fans who enjoyed this studio’s line of The Witcher games were eager to see a game release from a different IP. We traded in our medieval setting for something far more futuristic. Likewise, the game was marketed to have some big branching storylines, with the creation of your character presenting you with your first major choice. Lifepaths were introduced as a means of not only giving your character a backstory but also playing in different scenarios throughout the game.

Cyberpunk 2, codenamed Orion, may feature grander branching storylines determined by the player's starting life path, which were Street Kid, Corpo, and Nomad in Cyberpunk 2077.

When it comes to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, one of the biggest reasons that gamers want to get their hands on it sooner rather than later is because they want answers to the questions they have. Specifically, the “remake saga” has already made it clear that significant changes to the original game’s storyline will affect certain plot points in the next two titles. Some of them were basic “quality of life” changes to help flesh things out more. But then, some changes drastically affected how the story would be told and who might be alive at the end of it.

There is plenty of hype built up around Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. But if you needed another reason to get excited about this game, it looks like a lot more care and effort went into side content. We’re getting this next installment to the Final Fantasy VII remake in February of next year. As a result, there’s a bit more marketing and interviews popping up about the title and what fans can expect. Recently, Game Informer spoke with some of the folks behind Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. During their conversation, it was unveiled that The Witcher 3 played a significant role in where developers were taking inspiration. 

Early on in Warframe’s story, players will be directed to Cetus on Earth. It’s very different from what they expect, and the first person they meet is even stranger. They direct players to someone called Saya, but she’s far from easy to locate.

The year is coming to a close, and so we’re looking back at all the media we’ve engaged with, in an effort to find the best, or maybe even our favorite. And today, we’re looking at a list of our favorite anime from 2023.

Following its launch last year, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has received two DLCs as part of its Hidden Treasure of Area Zero storyline. The first, The Teal Mask, hit Switch in September; the second, The Indigo Disk, arrived last week, bringing with it plenty of returning legendaries and favorite starter Pokémon, too. Now, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have revealed The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero will be getting an epilogue that hits the game in January. 

Not even a week ago, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet released the second half of their DLC via “The Indigo Disk.” The content was not only taking players to a new place via the Blueberry Academy and its Terarium, but it would finally showcase what “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero” was and why it was the name of the DLC bundle. But for those who have already finished it and think that there’s “nothing else to do” outside of battling and collecting Pokemon for your Pokedex, we have an update you’ll want to hear. Because, according to The Pokemon Company, your journey isn’t over just yet.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is setting out to be a massive game, and it will require a lot of time to see everything it has to offer.

Next year is shaping up to be a huge year for World of Warcraft fans. In a blog post, Blizzard released the 2024 roadmap for both retail World of Warcraft leading into The War Within expansion as well as the release plans for all things World of Warcraft Classic including Season of Discovery updates and Cataclysm Classic.

The Pokemon Company dropped plenty of tidbits for fans to chew on regarding the new Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Indigo Disk DLC, including the Legendary Pokemon called Terapagos, as well as a new Tera Type. Now that the game is officially out, these details have come into focus.

Just when players think they have reached the end of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the game throws another curve Pokeball by revealing a secret ending. This hidden end may fill in all of the gaps left behind in the game’s original story.

I played a Tamagotchi-style virtual pet game full of bugs (the insect kind) and got really attached to an isopod, that is, until it suddenly died. 

Fallout 76 is still going strong. The developers have been pushing out new updates and content to keep our former vault dwellers interested in returning to the wasteland. As we exit 2023, the developers behind the video game reveal what players could expect to see when we head into 2024. As you can expect, the updates will continue to toss out more questlines for you to get entangled with. But beyond those quest lines will be a new area. Prepare to pack up and prepare for a new adventure deeper into the South. 

We’ll preface this article by saying there are a lot of Mario games, and to make sense of the vaunted series, we have the Mario games in order of release.

Humans are horrible. You don’t need an allegory about the environment filled with blue aliens to tell you that. However, the joy of James Cameron’s Avatar isn’t in its humans, or the azure Na’vi, it’s in the vibrant, living world of Pandora. From the instant you start Frontiers of Pandora, it’s clear that Ubisoft has done an incredible job bringing this world to life, and while you bathe in the neon glow of its incredible wildlife, you’ll discover a people whose lives and culture you’ll want to protect.

The Resident Evil franchise is quite a massive one. Players worldwide have sat through these incredible survival horror video games. However, it wouldn’t be anything if it wasn’t for that first title release. Sure, looking back at that original release now it’s pretty dated. Fortunately, there have been remakes that have given the game a massive overhaul today. But looking back at this cherished IP, the man who took on the director role for the first game was Shinji Mikami. Today, we’re finding out that Shinji wouldn’t be interested in returning to the franchise.

When I played Baldur's Gate 3 back in the autumn, I decided to roll with a Dark Urge Paladin, and it was such a fascinating experience that I wrote a whole article about it. But to give you the notes, combining a class that's sworn to abide by justice with a character who just flippin' loves murder creates an incredible internal conflict, leading to a character arc which, for me, felt like the closest you could come to a canonical playthrough of BG3.

The cast of Baldur's Gate 3 has evolved over the game's Early Access period and beyond—Wyll in particular had a whole rewrite between the game's conception and its full release. Whether it's whole storylines shifting or just toning down Gale's accidental thirstiness, finding the core of a character in a story this large is bound to be complicated.

One of the big announcements in video games this year, that some gamers may have already forgotten about, is James Gunn revealing the next ten year plans formed by DC Studios, called Gods and Monsters.

Recently we went hands-on with Ubisoft's upcoming Metroidvania, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. It's slashing its way onto PS5 and PS4 in January, bringing the series back to PlayStation for the first time since 2010. But after all this time, how is this latest adventure shaping up? And will it be worth that 14-year wait? Well, from our two hours with the game, we'd say fans of the series have a fun and vibrant adventure on their hands, and we personally are looking forward to jumping back into it.
