With two weeks left before the launch of F1 24, the latest installment in the licensed Formula 1 racing game series, we have sent a few questions to Codemasters to discuss some of the new features and improvements that fans will find in the game. The answers were provided by Senior Creative Director Lee Mather and Senior Producer Simon Lumb.

I have played Sins of a Solar Empire 2, and I am poorer for it. This sequel is extremely similar to the original real-time 4X strategy game from 2008 (including a lot, but not all of the content from its 2012 Rebellion expansion) with nicer graphics and needed engine improvements. That alone is more than welcome for a game that’s had such staying power, and revamps to its well-differentiated and complex factions give them even more depth to explore. However, the version that stealth-launched out of early access on the Epic Games Store feels rougher and less complete than a lot of games when they launch into early access. Expanding my empire, conquering planets, and watching my fleets do battle with rivals and bomb their planets to ash did grow on me a bit once a friend and I worked together and eventually taught ourselves its ins and outs, but getting to that point was so much less fun than it should’ve been that any joy was sucked out of it like atmosphere through a hull breach.

I have some scoop regarding Towatsugai, the Japanese battle fantasy RPG by Square Enix. The bad news is that it has decided to pull its plugs this summer (it never saw a global release). The good news is that a web fan community with an archived version of the game’s story will start service on the same day of Towatsugai EOS.

Players love to customize their characters — whether that be through transmog, fun transformation toys, consumables, or even stealing someone else's look with Reflecting Prism. The War Within will take that even further with a fun new consumable focused on transforming your race on demand: Glamour Scrolls! These Glamour Scrolls can be created relatively easily by Enchanters, requiring only Skill 40 and a small amount of Leyline Residue and Storm Dust. The only catch is the length of time you can stay transformed: the quality of the scroll determines where you fall within the range of 20 to 60 minutes. Your faction doesn't seem to matter — as of now, there are no restrictions on the items for Alliance or Horde, so you may be able to choose any race you'd like! At this time, we've datamined Glamour Scrolls for almost every race. The current exception is Dracthyr: so far, we haven't found any indication of being able to take on a draconic form.

While we haven't encountered the Harronir in The War Within thus far, we did previously highlight the overwhelming number of customization options of this potential Allied Race in the initial Alpha build. Stampede: Racing Royale will be added to Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access in the summer, Secret Mode and Sumo Leamington have confirmed. Players looking to race through new content might have a bit of a headstart with new Enchantments coming in The War Within — both for Mount Speed and Character Speed! Some particularly interesting Enchantments caught our eye while datamining in The War Within: While most of these Enchantments add the Speed tertiary stat to player character speed, one Enchantment seems to offer an increase in Mounted speed — Cavalry's March. Players have loved effects such as Crusader Aura which increase Mounted speed, and having even a small boost on your Boots would be a welcome gift for players that don't necessarily worry about mix-maxing for raiding or other content.

F1 24 is set to introduce some of the biggest changes the racing series has ever seen. Following the reveal of the massive physics update earlier this week, Codemasters has now unveiled the changes coming to Career Mode. For the first time, the developers will allow players to pick one of the current Formula One superstars or even a legendary driver like Ayrton Senna or Michael Schumacher.
