World of Warcraft Classic's Season of Discovery has brought many changes into the Classic world, including new raids, items, and a whole lot of new class spells through the rune system, but some things truly never change. It is always a debate whether the Horde or Alliance are the most powerful faction. In this article, we'll examine the strengths, weaknesses, and differences of the two factions in Season of Discovery. When we talk about comparing the Alliance and the Horde, there are two main things that differentiate them. The first and most important is that in the Vanilla versions of the game before The Burning Crusade Expansion, only the Horde had the Shaman class and only the Alliance had the Paladin class, and the same holds true in Season of Discovery. Both classes offer considerable buffs to the party and can fulfill a damage dealer, healer, or tank role — but do so in very different ways. The second difference is the racial abilities available to the races of each faction. Powerful activated abilities like the human racial Perception define Horde vs Alliance PvP involving stealth classes. Undead's Will of the Forsaken wreaks havoc on enemy Warlocks and Priests, significantly hindering their ability to control the Undead player. The racial bonuses don't just influence player versus player combat though, and the historically strong PvE Human racial Sword Specialization may be overshadowed by increased availability of weapon skill in Season of Discovery.

Thinking about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s interestingly scrappy combat recently took me back to another time when a major role-playing game series tried something very different with its combat mechanics. In this case, the designers’ goal was the same as Capcom’s with the first Dragon’s Dogma: a single-player RPG that felt like a massively multiplayer online game to play. But the resulting system couldn’t have been more different, and stands as one of the most fascinating dead ends in game design history.

Dwarf Fortress is many things. Most fans of PC gaming know it as a byzantine simulation of a colony of dwarves. Look closer, however, and you’ll also find that it’s a byzantine simulation of geologic forces, weather systems, and tidal movements; language, psychology, and poetry; medieval combat, of course, and even siegecraft. But the reason that I love the game so much is that it also simulates its own history, with tales of epic heroes and powerful artifacts strewn all across its procedurally generated digital worlds. Since Skybound's announcement in 2022, there have been several games over the years, largely due to the popularity of the Amazon Prime animated series, these have consisted of a Fortnite raid called, in which players assumed control of Cecil Stedman’s elite GDA Agents with a party of up to six players, Ubisoft's idle squad mobile RPG,, and the visual novel,, but fans have still been vocal in their desire for a full AAA title in the same vein as that focuses on Invincible himself, Mark Grayson.

Gamescom may be the most significant gaming convention and trade show in Europe (and probably the world following the death of E3), but Nintendo is a bit hit-and-miss with their attendance. They skipped 2022, but they were there in 2023, and, in fact, it was rumored they may have shown the Switch 2 for the first time behind closed doors while there. Fallout, the new TV drama based on the post-apocalyptic game series, premiered earlier this week on Prime Video. And instead of directly adapting any of the games (like HBO’s The Last of Us) or creating a separate continuity inspired by the series (à la Paramount Plus’ Halo), Fallout takes a wholly different approach: telling an original story set explicitly within the continuity of the games.

While he may not be as well known as, say, Jim Ryan, longtime PlayStation fans will no doubt recognize the name Gio Corsi. As PlayStation’s former senior director of third party production, Corsi spearheaded a lot of initiatives – he was particularly noted as a booster of the PS Vita and was responsible for bringing a lot of Japanese Vita titles to a worldwide audience. He also was responsible for jumpstarting interest in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise worldwide after the series initially kind of sputtered out in the West.

As owner of Violet Daisy Games, AnnaMaria Phelps, admits, it offers a lot of flexibility. “A tavern [is] a blank canvas,” Phelps said in a recent interview with Polygon. “You can start with a fight, or you can start with a rousing song. But what if you started because you met at a May Day celebration? Or what if you started because a thief robbed everyone, and you’re all chasing him together through a marketplace?”

In today's Patch 10.2.7 PTR, we've datamined new spells that indicate the return of raid buff scrolls including Mystic Touch and Chaos Brand for Timerunning Pandaria: Remix. In previous expansions, raid buff scrolls allowed players to partially fill in holes in compositions which was especially helpful in 10-man raiding and dungeon content where the number of players was limited. Perhaps these raid buff scrolls are returning because Timerunning raids might allow for smaller raid groups?

The American Tabletop Awards, the United States’ answer to Germany’s Spiel des Jahres, is back for the sixth consecutive year. Dragon's Dogma 2 has plenty of obstacles to overcome, but one major nuisance causing players a lot of headaches is Dragonsplague, a disease that can cause a Pawn to turn into a massive dragon and kill everything in a 10-mile radius if not treated properly. Players have come up with various methods of keeping Dragonsplague at bay, including throwing their Pawns in the nearest body of water, but now the modders have got involved.

is a turn-based RPG where players can travel the realm with their unlocked party members to overcome a great evil, in the name of the King. While some characters can be unlocked through purchase from the Lore store immediately, others must be unlocked through story progress.

In Season 4 of Diablo 4, players will gain access to the Pit of Artificers, a new Endgame mechanic which pits players against the clock while fighting hordes of monsters. Slay enough in time, and you'll gain access to the final boss at the end — a mechanic incredibly similar in form to Diablo 3's Greater Rifts. This content shares a feature that punishes player deaths as well, however this penalty seems to be particularly unforgiving in Diablo 4.

is a huge game with a level of attention to detail that makes it the envy of many other RPGs. Still, this attention to detail does not mean that the game is faultless. Due to the sheer size of Larian Studio's masterpiece, glitches and bugs are inevitable, and the Belguim-based developer has continued to work on patch fixes ever since its latest CRPG hit stores in 2023. Some players have found that not all of these glitches are necessary ones that hamper the gaming experience. Sometimes, it's the opposite.

Sableye, the unassuming Ghost-Dark hybrid, is actually based on a real-life monster encounter. Introduced in, this Gen-3 Pokémon quickly became a fan favorite for its unique design and adaptability in battle, thanks to its hybrid nature and prankster abilities. Its anime debut came in, where it was wielded by Cassidy of Team Rocket. While portrayed Sableye as harmless, that perception would change with its main-series debut. The episode “Ready, Willing, & Sableye” is where it would be more accurately depicted as the real-world creatures its design is based on.
