Rumor: PlayStation 5 Will Get More Smaller Games In 2024, Including A New Astro Bot

A new rumor suggests that a remake of the classic PS1 title MediEvil 2 will debut at the speculated PlayStation Showcase in May. The report originates from Orangee, a supposed playtester who previously leaked details about upcoming Gravity Rush projects, and alleges that the game is being handled by the same team who shipped the 2019 MediEvil remake.

A Mafia series announcement is on the horizon, a well-known leaker has claimed. The purported bit of upcoming news is plausibly related to the fourth mainline Mafia game.

Motive Studios’ Dead Space remake has caused a stir recently after Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb reported that a remake for the second game was shelved. Though only in the pre-production phase, Grubb noted that a Dead Space 2 remake wasn’t happening due to lackluster sales of the first game. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has since weighed in, noting in a new report that the series is on ice again.

Developers at Dead Space remake creators EA Motive were pushing to make a "new entry" in the sci-fi horror series before EA shelved it last year, according to the latest in a recent outbreak of Dead Spacey rumours and revelations that have spread through the bulkheads of the internet, coating everybody's devices with necrotic slime.

Yesterday, it was announced that Motive Studios would work on the Battlefield franchise. While the development of Marvel’s Iron Man continues, it’s also building a new team to focus purely on EA’s flagship first-person shooter franchise. Of course, this begged the question – what about the follow-up to the Dead Space remake launched last year?

EA has denied reports that a Dead Space 2 remake was in development before being canceled, with a spokesperson telling IGN, "We don't normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story."

Despite the original Dead Space getting the remake treatment, the same isn't happening for its sequel, at least not now.

A new rumor has propped up about the anticipated Gears of War 6.

While Microsoft has plenty of first-party titles in the works, one of its most prominent, Gears of War, hasn’t been mentioned for some time. However, roughly five years after the launch of Gear 5, it’s allegedly set to reveal Gears 6 this Summer per Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb (with The Verge’s Tom Warren affirming the same).

The upcoming remake of may still be in development but a recent report suggests it may launch on more consoles than previously expected. Following the announcement that Bioware's classic RPG set in a galaxy far, far away would be remade for modern audiences, the community was disappointed to learn that it would be released as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive and would later make the jump to PC. Despite this initially disheartening news, Xbox Series X|S owners may not need to fear any longer.

A reliable gaming insider has claimed that PlayStation plans to release a new Astro Bot game this year alongside several other "smaller" first-party titles.
