Foamstars! Remember that? Well, it's still going, and Square Enix is gearing up for the game's third seasonal update. Titled Mysterious Swing, the new season debuts on 12th April, and you can see some of the new additions in the above trailer.
Top billing goes to the latest new playable character, Chloe Noir. She's all about precision shots with her charge rifle, and can track down opponents using her batty sidekick. All players can unlock her for free by progressing the battle pass to tier 31, while those with the premium pass will unlock access immediately.
Elsewhere, Skill Gems are being introduced, which allow you to enhance your characters with buffed abilities. They're a bit like the Bubble Gems that we already have, but are more specific to each Foamstar. Ranked playlists Party Lonestar and Party Tribe-Vibe will be available as limited-time events, while two new Extreme Parties will be added. All Chloe Party has everyone playing as the new character, and Bubbly Penguin Party makes everyone Penny Gwyn, and only able to use her special abilities to battle.

I tried this game out once and it just feels so...soulless. The characters either look generic or way too over the top...I just couldn't get into it at all.
The umbrella allowing her to glide is essentially the Pearl Drone from Side Order.
Her charge rifle is essentially any of the charge shots from Splatoon.
I swear Square turns on a Switch with Splatoon on and scratch their chins thinking of what to pull from that game next. I know people get sick of the Splatoon comparisons but come on lol.
So I'm guessing that at some point that cute girl from the shop will be playable ^__^ because this character is the gallery host
I may jump back in once they add some new modes, on release I played it I had a blast and played a few matches everyday for a week, haven't touched it since. It seems to be missing something to keep my attention, the battle pass ain't doing it for me and the queue times were annoying.
Didnt know about the Skill gems, that will be interesting. I'll be looking forward to trying Chole out as I missed her in the Happy FriYay event before.

Rockstar Games has announced it's joining EA in raising the price of its GTA+ subscription service, from £4.99 / $5.99 per month to £6.99 / $7.99. Representing a 40 per cent increase in the UK, new users will immediately be charged the new price while existing members will begin paying extra from 11th June 2024. Since GTA+ only offers users monthly memberships, there's no way to save a bit of money with a 12-month commitment to the service.
