Final Fantasy XVI is no small game, but for those who want more, Square Enix has also rolled out a pair of story expansions for the RPG – last year’s Echoes of the Fallen, and the just-released The Rising Tide. But how does one play this new DLC? It isn’t a simple matter of just hopping into the new content from the main menu, there are some pre-requisites. Also, how leveled up should your party be before you take on this new challenge? Don’t worry, we have the answers for you…
Warning: The following article may contain minor Final Fantasy XVI spoilers.
In order to access the The Rising Tide content, you need to have completed the “Where There's a Will" and "Priceless" side quests from the main game. Doing so will allow Joshua and Jill to join your party full-time, even between missions. Both Where There’s a Will and Priceless can only be accessed right near the end of the main campaign, once you’ve instigated the “Back to their Origin” main story quest (the last one of the campaign) but haven’t actually traveled to Origin yet.
During this window, you’ll be able to kick off the Where There’s a Will sidequest by talking to Joshua near the entrance to the Hideaway.
Once you’ve completed Where There’s a Will, you’ll be able to start the Priceless sidequest by going to the Reading Table and checking out the “Concerned for Jill” message.
If you can’t access either Where there’s a Will or Priceless, you might not have completed the prerequisite sidequests. In order to access Where There’s a Will, you need to have completed “Phoenix, Heal Thyself” and in order to access Priceless you need to have completed “Cut From the Cloth.”
Okay! So, if you’ve completed Where There’s a Will and Priceless, head to Clive’s Chambers and check out your reading table. There should be a new message from a mysterious sender. It seems the Leviathan Eikon is still out there in the world, and its Dominant is in trouble. Once you’ve read the note, head off to Northreach to get The Rising Tide campaign going.
As for what level you need to be to tackle it, I’d suggest you be around level 50, as that’s the minimum level the enemies you’ll face will be. You may even want to be a level or two above 50, as some of The Rising Tide boss fights are pretty stiff competition.
Final Fantasy XVI can be played on PS5. The Rising Tide it out now and can be purchased for $20 a la carte or as part FF16’s $25 Expansion Pass, which also includes the first update, “Echoes of the Fallen.” You can check out Wccftech's other Final Fantasy XVI guides here.

Square Enix has revised its approach to PC and console game development, and absorbed ¥22.1 billion (approx $140.9 million) in what it calls “content abandonment losses.”
If you're over a certain age, you may remember lugging your console or PC over to a friend's house so that you could enjoy proper local multiplayer, with none of that split-screen malarkey. Well, if you and a friend both own a Switch, you can do that right now with local wireless multiplayer!
It is no secret that 's immense success has led to another boom in ' popularity. It uses the same basic rules, after all, being based on the tabletop RPG's fifth edition, known for being the simplest edition to date. Despite this, 5e was built for the tabletop, so Larian Studios chose to make changes to the rules in order for it to properly function as a CRPG title.
The next project from the Final Fantasy XVI developer, Square Enix's CBU 3, will likely be more lighthearted, as Yoshi-P seems to be done with dark fantasy for the time being.
The Rising Tide is the second and final expansion for Final Fantasy 16, adding another worthwhile chapter to the tale of Clive Rosfield. Only accessible near the very end of the base game, this DLC is designed to be something of a sendoff for the action RPG, providing a new storyline that brings additional weight to the title's world building, while also giving players an opportunity to dive yet deeper into 16's slick combat system.

Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide story expansion is out now, which introduces the new region Mysidia. At the center of this region is the town of Haven, but when you first arrive there, it’s kind of useless. There’s no shop, no blacksmith’s foundry. Thankfully, by completing certain sidequests, you can unlock the blacksmith and shop in Haven, and you’ll want to do that, as they offer some of the best gear and craftable weapons in the game. Here’s how to do so…
Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide story expansion is out now, and as you’d expect, it includes some new gear, including the best weapons in the game thus far. One of these is the Tonberry Knife, which isn’t the most powerful in the game in terms of raw damage, but is the most best in terms of inflicting “Will” or stagger damage. For those familiar with FF16’s combat system, staggering enemies frequently is arguably more important than just dealing raw damage, so you’re going to want to get your hands on the Tonberry Knife. Here’s how to do so…
's second DLC,, adds a whole new region to its map — but in terms of size, that could mean many different things. Although it has a pretty sizable world map, is not an open-world game. Each region varies in size, and is connected to the next one only in limited, specified areas, and players can't travel to most of them until they unlock new areas through the story. Despite this linearity, most map regions open up completely as soon as they're unlocked, providing plenty of opportunity for exploration.
The Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail benchmark is here, giving MMO fans a glimpse into what their characters will look like after the graphical update in patch 7.0. While plenty are rather pleased about their Warrior of Lights glow-ups, some have been left looking worse for wear.
