Baldur's Gate 3 Companions Leave If They Fall Out With Your Multiplayer Partner

Baldur's Gate 3's multiplayer is chaotic. You've got to plan your fights together and decide how you're going to approach the various moral dilemmas the game throws at you. But as some players have discovered, you've also got to decide how to treat your campmates, because they might leave if they fall out with just one of you.
This was documented by Reddit user PomeranianLibrarian, who shared that her husband drove Astarion out of their party by having his approval drop too low. This was despite Astarion seemingly being on alright terms with the other player character - he just hated the other Tav that much.
"I knew I wasn't going to get far in terms of approval since I can't flat-out [be] a dick in this game, but my husband's Warlock got Astarion's disapproval one too many times during the Balthazar fight and did a hair flip the next time we camped," says PomeranianLibrarian. "We tried reloading so he and the gnome Warlock could at least have a conversation, hoping that might help, but it was too little, too late."
Others in the replies say that this has happened to them too, so make sure your multiplayer partner isn't accidentally leaving you at a huge disadvantage by driving a companion away for good. It's not clear if this would be enough to break off any player romances, but if that is the case, it would probably result in a few real-life romances being strained too. It's reminded me to keep an eye on how many times my partner attacks Gale for absolutely no reason, that's for sure.
As this player just discovered, using any kind of brainwashing or approval-changing abilities on your companions will give you a huge drop in approval once it wears off. Yes, that includes Friends. Don't be tempted by it during dice rolls against your campmates.
As wild as Baldur's Gate 3's multiplayer can be, there is one thing you can't do on these playthroughs - each other. Alas, you will need some companions to stick around if you want your character to get some action.
But don't worry, you can still romance other companions during a multiplayer session - you just have an audience for those scenes. This is especially funny in split-screen multiplayer since you can just cut to the other player snoozing back at camp while all the action is happening. Or, you can eavesdrop and have it take up the whole screen, for all to see.

Crawl out through the fallout, baby! I've watched two episodes of Amazon's recently released Fallout TV show, a series for and about Walton Goggins' rizz (a thing the kids say). I've been on the Goggins hype train for over a decade at this point, and it's great that - oh sorry, I'm being told that the Fallout TV show is in fact about Bethesda's post-nukepocalypse RPG series of video games, and as such has given a massive player bump to said video games on Steam.
