Everything starts in the Top Spin Academy, where they'll be able to master core gameplay mechanics guided by the voice of John McEnroe. The tennis icon will lead players through Basic Lessons on fundamentals such as positioning, timing and shot selection, followed by Advanced Lessons focused on power serves, lob shots and more, and ending with Playstyle Lessons that show off the strengths and weaknesses of various playstyles players can chose to apply when building their custom MyPLAYER.

ProbablyMonsters, an independent game company founded in 2016 by former Bungie president and CEO Harold Ryan, has created a new team to develop a competitive multiplayer game in Unreal Engine 5. Online multiplayer on all Wii U and 3DS games has come to an end, as Nintendo shuts down the servers for good. This makes it impossible to use online functionality in games such as Pokemon X & Y, Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, and Super Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS - at least while using conventional means.

We knew it was coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye. Nintendo shut down the online servers for both the Wii U and 3DS today. Goodbye, App Store Suika Game clones. The real thing has finally arrived on iOS for players outside of Japan. Suika Game, the watermelon puzzle game that went viral on Nintendo Switch last year, is available to download for $2.99 on Apple’s App Store, making it playable on iPhone and iPad. A senior CD Projekt Red official has gone on record to state that the studio doesn't believe microtransactions have a place in single-player games. And while that move effectively reiterated the company's long-standing stance on game monetization, CD Projekt Red isn't entirely ruling out the possibility of implementing microtransactions in the future.

A new Marvel game will be officially announced tomorrow (that's the 27th March) at 8am PT / 11am ET / 3pm GMT. That's according to hype master Geoff Keighley, who's teasing the title on social media.

As was heavily rumoured, the new Marvel game is indeed a six-on-six, team-based, hero-based multiplayer shooter. It's called Marvel Rivals, and it's built around each character having their own unique abilities. You've got the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Black Panther… It looks to be quite a robust roster.

Microtransactions have become an unavoidable reality in games in the modern context, especially with game development budgets continuing to balloon to ridiculous degrees, but even so, seeing in-game monetization in single-player experiences never quite sits right with the vast majority. We had a very recent example of that with Dragon’s Dogma 2, a game that, despite widespread acclaim, still drew plenty of backlash for its post-launch inclusion of microtransactions. Not all players in the industry see the value in such a strategy, however.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is a pretty unique game in that it's strictly single player, as you won't run into anyone on your travels, but it has lots of multiplayer elements thanks to the Pawn system. You'll come across various user-created Pawns during your time with Dragon's Dogma 2, which can be recruited and brought along for their combat prowess, healing abilities, or stylish threads.

There are a lot of upcoming CD Projekt Red games, and if you're worried that the studio might change its ways and go all-in on microtransactions in a fit of capitalism, don't worry. The studio says it doesn't see a place for microtransactions in single-player games - only multiplayer titles.

As is the case every month, PlayStation Plus is changing its roster of games in April, giving players new titles that they can add to their libraries and keep for as long as they're subscribed. A new team-based multiplayer hero shooter starring the superheroes and supervillains of the Marvel Universe is on the way from Marvel and NetEase Games. It’s called Marvel Rivals, and it will pit two teams of six heroes against each other on battlefields like Asgard and Tokyo 2099 that are built around destruction.

Season 3 Arrives in Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone

NetEase Games has announced Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play team-based multiplayer third-person shooter for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). A closed alpha test is planned for May, and registration is available now via the official website.

The “hero shooter” is a popular competitive multiplayer game subgenre where players control characters with powerful preset abilities rather than a customizable loadout. Although “hero” is right there in the subgenre name, and Overwatch proved how well superheroes could work with the concept, we haven’t gotten a true attempt at this style of game from Marvel or DC.

Like a combination Taco Bell/KFC, Outpost: Infinity Siege is trying to be a suspicious number of things at once. But while this ambitious and absurdly complicated multiplayer first-person-shooter-real-time-strategy-tower-defense game is absolutely covered in a thick layer of jank, it defies the odds by actually being pretty darn competent at most of the things it attempts. Sure, the story is laughably bad, the voice performances gave me a full-body cringe, and there’s so much grinding and RNG that you’ll be seeing the same levels way too often. But all of those complaints stand in stark contrast to the numerous ways Infinity Siege knocks it out of the park, and as a result I’m still having a lot of fun leveling up my base and facing off against hordes of robotic scorpions after more than 60 hours. The FPS combat is smooth and satisfying, the real-time strategy offers a ton of room for scheming, and the tower defense mechanics delightfully allow you to take on entire armies from atop a fortress of gunfire. Outpost: Infinity Siege might bite off way more than it can chew, but, also like a combination Taco Bell/KFC, it often delivers exactly what you’re looking for.
