Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door's long-awaited remake is only a little under a month away, which means Nintendo has started releasing more and more information about the title and what we can expect. Being a remake of a beloved and classic title, there are a lot of questions surrounding what Nintendo will keep or remove from the original. Pokemon Promotes The 3DS Hours Before Nintendo Shuts Servers Down

An official Pokemon account has put together a video promoting the Nintendo 3DS, just hours before the servers are taken down. The video makes no mention of this, simply showing off a Pokemon-themed 3DS at an event this weekend, as if it isn't about to lose access to all of its online functionality.
The video itself is short and sweet, showing whoever's behind the Pokemon UK social media account walking around the Pokemon Europe International Championships this weekend, all while recording footage on their Nintendo 3DS. However, fans were very quick to point out that the timing of this is just rubbing salt in the wound, as in a matter of hours, the console's servers will be taken offline for good.
"Last thing this 3DS sees before it dies," says user @Gaming_Puar. "3DS MENTIONED ONE DAY BEFORE THE SERVERS SHUT DOWN LMFAOOOOO," replies @FrappeFizzyy.
Alas, this also serves as a reminder of just how old the 3DS is getting, with the video being incredibly low quality. Still, it got the job done at the time, back when the handheld hit stores in 2011. Nintendo stuck with having a camera on its consoles for the Wii U but gave this a miss when it came to the Switch.
Speaking of the Wii U, this will also be caught up in tomorrow's server shutdown. This comes a little over 13 years since its launch in late 2012, scrapping the multiplayer on hit games such as Mario Kart 8, Splatoon, and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. In other words, you only have a few hours left if you want to play a few matches of the original Splatoon, the game that kickstarted a series that's received two sequels on the Switch.
Online services for the Nintendo Wii were shut down gradually, starting with online multiplayer and video streaming in 2014. The Wii Shop Channel closed in 2019 .
In better news, the 3D's StreetPass feature should still work, for the most part. You'll still be able to open the app and bump into other players' Miis - you'll just have to find someone walking around with a 3DS in 2024. Which, apparently, you have a fair chance of encountering if you attend Pokemon events in London.
