As was heavily rumoured, the new Marvel game is indeed a six-on-six, team-based, hero-based multiplayer shooter. It's called Marvel Rivals, and it's built around each character having their own unique abilities. You've got the Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Black Panther… It looks to be quite a robust roster.
There's just one problem: Marvel Rivals hasn't been confirmed for consoles, including PS5. Right now, it's PC-only, with an alpha test dropping in May. We would assume that it'll eventually be brought to other platforms once the project's closer to completion, but there are obviously no guarantees.
And yes, it's being developed by colossal Chinese entity NetEase Games, which is already promising a «continually evolving universe» through «robust post-launch updates».
If the gameplay's a hit, we could see Marvel Rivals being a bit of a juggernaut based on the brand alone. But what do you make of it? Watch your entire team pick Iron Man in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you're lazy) has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, he's played 'em all — a little too much, some might say.
So it’s Marvel Overwatch. Yeah I’ll pass.
I’m sure heroes will be reasonably priced and there won’t be any disgusting microtranactions and….pfft, I couldn’t even keep a straight face while typing that.
You can see all the love and hard work put in this title
I like the originality
