PlayStation's Days Gone and Syphon Filter developer Bend Studio is seemingly working on a PlayStation live-service game.
At least, that's what could be discerned from a recent new job listing at Sony's first-party studio for a 'Lead Project Manager'. While the job listing doesn't directly confirm that the studio is working on a live-service project, the listing does describe the "key phases of development", thereby mentioning "live services". In addition, the listing mentions "Hands-on game development experience in leadership roles shipping AAA live service" as a requirement for the position at Bend Studio. Also, a plus for a candidate would be experienced with redefining traditional "boxed" product development into live service development.
Back in June of 2022 we reported that Bend Studio confirmed multiplayer and open-world systems for their next project. This open-world system is build upon the system from Days Gone.
"The new Bend Studio logo is just the beginning of Bend Studio’s future", the studio wrote in 2022. "As part of the PlayStation Studios family, we promise to continue bringing you quality experiences that aim to leave an everlasting impact with you. Today, we are excited to share just a snippet of news on our current project. We are currently working on a new IP that includes multiplayer and builds upon the open-world systems of Days Gone, but brings you a whole new world that we are extremely excited to craft for you. We cannot wait to reveal it to you when the time is right."
As said, the Oregon-based studio is known for the Syphon Filter series, and 2019's Days Gone. Here's what we wrote about Days Gone in our launch review on PS4. The title was also released for PC back in 2021.
"Days Gone puts Bend Studio once again on the map of all PlayStation gamers after many years of oblivion. While it doesn't deliver any meaningful innovations in terms of open world and gameplay mechanics, it's a fun game that sports gorgeous graphics and a surprisingly great story/cast of characters, easily paving the way for a sequel to the stories of Deacon 'the Drifter' St. John."

Sony likes to put on major State of Play livestreams and host its PlayStation Showcase during the month of May, and it appears the company is gearing up to do so once again in 2024. Giant Bomb journalist Jeff Grubb reports he's heard «a bunch of times» from sources that Sony is planning an event for May, and it sounds more like another big PlayStation Showcase rather than a more subdued State of Play.

With Sony not releasing any major new titles for its existing PlayStation franchises before April 2025, all eyes are on the new IPs and third-party games. This could include Bend Studio’s next project, a new open-world triple-A IP that “builds on the deep open-world systems” from Days Gone.
