Squishmallows owner Kelly Toys is taking Build-A-Bear to court in what may be the cutest legal battle ever. After a year in Steam Early Access, survival game follow-up Sons of the Forest is dropping its 1.0 update on Thursday, February 22.

The non-profit LGBTQ advocacy organization GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) has released its first-ever State of LGBTQ Inclusivity in Gaming Report, which has revealed some interesting statistics surrounding the LGBTQ gaming community and the content of games available. 

According to a new GLAAD report, one in five gamers surveyed are LGBTQ+, but 38 percent "feel they sometimes don't belong in the gaming community". A staggering 42 percent report that they even avoid "playing a game because they thought they would be harassed."

GLAAD today released its first State of LGBTQ Inclusion in Video Games report, building around the results of a Nielsen survey that found 17% of active gamers identify as LGBTQ.

Nearly one in five gamers are members of the LGBT+ community, yet LGBT+ storylines and characters account for less than two percent of all games.

A creative Pokemon fan recently stitched together a collection of colorful beanie hats based on some of the franchises’ most popular creatures from the first two generations. Nintendo’s long-running RPG series is home to over 1,000 unique Pokemon as of this writing, sparking the imaginations of fans all around the world. A player can find tons of cute or capable Pals on a tour through Palworld’s Palpagos Islands, but in order to fill out their Paldeck, they’ll need to dabble with breeding. Breeding is a surprisingly deep part of Palworld, and it’s quickly become a rabbit hole — or a Caprity hole, if you will — for my group on our shared server.

Sheepy: A Short Adventure is the first independently made game by developer Thomas Lean, otherwise known as MrSuicideSheep. It’s an adorable, dark platformer that is more than it seems to be at first glance and keeps me going back for more.

February in brings two returning seasonal events as well as new bugs, fish, and seasonal items. Each month gives players more opportunities to obtain furniture and collect different critters. Continue to fill out the museum during the last few weeks of winter in the Northern Hemisphere or summer in the Southern Hemisphere. New characters will visit the island during February, bringing joy to villagers. Unfortunately, this month is rather quiet and only offers two main seasonal events.

Ichiban doesn’t have a lot of time to relax while abroad in Hawaii during Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. His quest will have him and his friends facing off against a new set of threats that are more dangerous than anything that came before. While you can grind for levels to try and keep up, the best way to make sure everyone on your team is dishing out as much pain as possible is to craft and upgrade better weapons. Early on, you can improve your base gear with basic ores you find littered on the streets, but once you start getting to the high-level stuff, you will need some rare (and weird) materials. Rainbow Geodes in particular can be hard to come by, but we’ve found a rich deposit for you to mine.

The Like A Dragon series has never been afraid to make cute little nods to certain characters and side quests that have appeared in previous games, with minigames such as Like A Dragon Gaiden's colosseum fights usually crammed with references to several past titles. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is no exception, which gives us a cameo from a couple of characters those of you who have played the Judgment spinoff series will be very familiar with.

Kazuma Kiryu's bucket list side story in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth features callbacks and references to several of the series' spinoffs, including Dead Souls, Kenzan, and Ishin.

The only thing that could make Mario Kart more stressful is adding Resident Evil-style fixed camera angles to it - so obviously one modder has done exactly that. 

Once the novelty of shooting a cute and friendly-looking Pal with a gun wears off, it is time to get serious in Palworld and start crafting more powerful firepower and technologies. Just like everything else, you will need to farm materials in order to actually make these new toys. Your starting musket is serviceable, but once you make a Weapon Workbench, you will see way better options to make so long as you have High Quality Pal Oil. Before you try and shove your Pal into a crusher like you’re farming Paldium, that’s not how you’re meant to get this material. There are two methods to get your hands on some, so let’s break it all down.

Palworld is a monster catcher and survival game that feels mildly off. The cute, round, and friendly designs of the Pals you encounter don’t quite fit with the more organic and natural environments. It’s a jarring sensation that I was able to get past fairly easily, except for a dissonance more insidious than the initial visuals: Despite playing a monster-catching game, I found myself actively resenting my Pals. It’s a bit of a problem that in a game named, well, Palworld, maintaining a party of Pals is the least interesting bit.

A talented Pokemon fan recently dreamed up an Electric-type Vulpix variant to go along with their previous Ninetales redesign. The fox-like Vulpix was introduced in the original Pokemon Red and Blue games as the 37th creature overall, with the ability to evolve into the majestic Ninetales when it is exposed to a Fire Stone. Both of these evolutions are modeled after the kitsune, a multi-tailed fox of Japanese lore with the ability to breathe fire — a fitting inspiration for a pair of Fire-type Pokemon. Vulpix and Ninetales were later given alternate Alola region variants in Pokemon Sun and Moon that swapped out their usual Fire abilities with Ice.

I've been eyeing up this nostalgic house-building sim for what feels like forever, and it finally has a release date. 

Avatar: The Last Airbender fans have every reason to be skeptical of Netflix’s new show. Even if they hadn’t been legendarily burned by a live-action production before, there’s the departure of the original series’ creators for their own sandbox of upcoming animated Avatar efforts.

The producer of Palworld and CEO of developer Pocketpair, Takuro Mizobe, has reiterated that the Palworld developers “have absolutely no intention of infringing upon the intellectual property of other companies.” 

Every survival and crafting game will have you grinding out a ton of materials as you build and upgrade your base. Palworld is no different, except for the fact that you can put a bunch of cute and colorful Pals to work for you. No matter what you’re trying to make, there’s one basic component that remains constant for almost the entire game: Paldium. You will use this to make everything from the Palbox to Pal Sheres needed to catch new Pals. There are only a few ways to go about getting it, so figuring out the most efficient way to farm it early will save you a lot of headaches in the future.

Since Palworld arrived on the scene, the Pokemon comparisons have come thick and fast, but the developer isn't worried about any legal fallout.  

A talented Pokemon fan has created a delicious-looking marshmallow version of the Cotton Cloud pal, Swablu. David Szymanski, developer of acclaimed horror titles like Dusk and Iron Lung, has just released his latest game, The Pony Factory. Featuring a striking black-and-white aesthetic and gruesome horse skeleton enemies, it looks just as brilliantly bone-chilling as his previous offerings, and it's certainly gone down well on Steam. At the time of writing, it's got a "very positive" rating from players and is flying high on Steam's New and Trending chart. That being said, it's not quite managed to make it all the way to the top of said chart, and it's all because of a turnip on a crime spree. 

Back in November, Ayaneo officially unveiled the AM01 mini PC. This thing was built to look like a retro Macintosh computer, but the inclusion of older AMD APUs wasn’t exactly going to win any power awards.
