Following on from its game, IllFonic has developed an asymmetrical multiplayer game based on the 80s Horror Sci-Fi comedy film, alongside Teravision Games. The title was revealed during Gamescom Opening Night Live in 2022 with a cinematic trailer that demonstrated the game's zany, humorous tone and confirmed it would also be taking place in the 80s like its movie counterpart.

My experiments with VR have led to some strange experiences, as well as a few action-packed titles. Titanic: A Space Between falls more in the strange category, though it manages to capture my attention thanks to its gorgeous visuals, compelling tale, and a runtime that is just long enough to leave you wanting more.

I don’t think Sigmund Freud was much of a gamer but if he were, Alisa would probably be his favourite game. Freud’s seminal discussion of the Uncanny remains one of the clearest accounts of what makes certain things incredibly creepy to us – and chief amongst his examples is the animated doll. Alisa takes this creepiness and puts it centre stage, taking an intricate love letter to the origins of survival horror and replacing the zombies with dolls. It makes for a timely and appropriate change of focus.

The notorious horror comics imprint EC is back from the dead! The publisher behind titles like Tales from the Crypt, Weird Science, and The Vault of Horror, is being relaunched at Oni Press (who seem to be on a bit of a hot streak at the moment) later this year. Two books - Epitaphs from the Abyss and Cruel Universe - will mark the first new releases under the EC banner in almost seven decades.

So what is True Detective, really? Before this year, it felt like a collection of aesthetic trappings. Two cops played by prominent actors. A crime spanning multiple timelines. Some kind of weird fiction/supernatural horror bent. Thematically, the anthology’s concerns shifted from season to season, their strongest throughlines being heavy ruminations on masculinity. But in its final, stunning hour, True Detective: Night Country tries to buckle down and answer, once and for all, what True Detective is really about — by going back to where it all started.

If there's one game I would want to follow CDPR's long-awaited sequel The Witcher 4, it would be a cosmic horror game set in feudal Japan - and I mean that sincerely! In fact, CDPR, with its spectacular worldbuilding, is one of the few studios I would trust to pull off something so wild. But, sadly, that very specific genre is exactly the only one CDPR has fully ruled out for its new IP, codenamed Project Hadar.

PQube will release ROOTNSTUDIO-developed horror game White Day 2: The Flower That Tells Lies Complete Edition for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series in 2024, the company announced. A physical edition will also be available for PlayStation 5.

Usually, when you’re planning what movie to watch on Valentine’s Day, a few genres come to mind: romantic comedies, period romances, or tear-jerker dramas. That’s all fine and dandy — but some of us want a splash of horror in among the romance, something a bit quirkier and edgier to wash down those candy hearts.

Horror as a mode or genre encompasses a vast range of styles and approaches from the quiet and creepy to the over-the-top splatterfest. As a self-confessed horror fan, I’m generally pretty open-minded when it comes to different iterations of the form. The one exception to this, however, is the seemingly ubiquitous ‘YouTube’ horror game which relies almost entirely on jump scares and is mostly pitched towards overly performative streamer reactions. That being said, there are some excellent games within this rough genre, with the Amnesia series and Alien: Isolation standing supreme so I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised by Evil Nun. In the end, what I got was perhaps the very definition of an empty streamer experience.

But new reports have been circulating online that the Supermassive Games horror title has been pulled from various regions on the PlayStation Store. That might have had some fans wondering if this is to make room for the newly reported Until Dawn remastered edition coming our way. However, it’s likely not a title actually being pulled but rather a glitch that has dropped the game from being made available.
