Bramayugam OTT release date: If you missed the chance to watch Mammootty's stellar performance in the theatres last month, worry not, as the gripping dark fantasy horror thriller, "Bramayugam," is all set to make its way to your screens. SonyLIV, the streaming platform, recently announced the much-anticipated release, scheduled for this month. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, this Malayalam masterpiece has not only exceeded expectations at the box office but has also solidified its place as one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema.

Given how often I’ve used the weather as an excuse for staying indoors and playing games, it’s fitting that I could take the opportunity with the sun showing itself to spend a little time on outdoorsy tasks. But when darkness falls, it was back to Helldiving into the morass of robot and bug enemies on alien worlds (often with terrible weather), and then enduring the horrors of The Outlast Trials with Tuffcub and Steve.

It’s hard to know where to start in describing how bad Imaginary is. The new horror movie from Blumhouse and director Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) starts with the simple but promising premise of a haunted stuffed animal and a malicious imaginary friend, but its bland characters, muddy storytelling, and lack of scares leave behind a movie more lifeless than a teddy bear with no stuffing.

Has there ever been a better time to be a fan of survival horror games? Since the beginning of last year, the likes of Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake and Dead Space Remake all scared us witless. But the horror rollercoaster is still charging away as later this month, we have the return of a horror icon.

Yesterday, Ukrainian developer Frogwares delivered one of the best surprises of the Xbox Partner Showcase with the announcement of The Sinking City 2.

The official full trailer for upcoming horror film Late Night with the Devil has dropped, and it looks like a mix of The Exorcist and retro late-night talk shows. 

Arkham Horror has been a part of the tabletop world for almost two decades, its board games and expansions, and then its card game, cultivating a loyal following. Now Fantasy Flight is looking to branch out even further by pulling RPG fans into its Arkham Horror universe. Announcing Arkham Horror The Roleplaying game, this next chapter, although very different from what has come before, aims to appeal to both Arkham Horror stalwarts and RPG aficionados alike.

Frogwares has revealed The Sinking City 2, a sequel to the Lovecraftian detective game that’s leaning much, much further in to the horror genre. The game is coming out in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

After the public legal hubbub that surrounded the original The Sinking City, developer Frogwares is back to focusing on expanding the franchise – and it’s announced a sequel for PS5, which is currently slated for release in 2025. The Sinking City 2 is set in 1920s America, when a supernatural flood brings Eldritch-like horrors to the city of Arkham. This is being billed as a brand-new, standalone story, unrelated to the original.

GSC Game World has announced horror first-person shooter collection S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $39.99. It includes S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. Each game is also available individually for $19.99 each.

Ultimate X-Men #1 is here, launching the third title of the new Ultimate Universe. But unlike Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate Black Panther, which remix familiar characters and concepts into new but still very recognizable incarnations, Ultimate X-Men is just about as disconnected from the mainstream Marvel X-Men as it gets.

New Alan Wake 2 PC system requirements were shared online today by Remedy Entertainment as a new patch optimizing rendering for older GPUs went live.

2019’s The Sinking City was a solid entry in the growing catalogue of Lovecraft-inspired horror and adventure games, which later became better-known for the bitter legal battle over the game between developer Frogwares and publisher Nacon. Frogwares was ultimately successful in that battle, and today during the latest Xbox Partner Preview showcase, they announced The Sinking City 2 is on the way.

An unannounced STALKER Legends of the Zone Trilogy has been spotted ahead of an official reveal.

Frogwares has announced “story-rich Lovecraftian survival horror” sequel The Sinking City 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG). It will launch in 2025. A Kickstarter campaign is also planned.

Frogwares finally regained sole control of The Sinking City in January, after years of dispute, and have wasted no time in now revealing a sequel, with an upcoming Kickstarter campaign for a "safety net", coming in 2025. The new and extremely damp survival horror game, set in a heavily flooded New England city in the 1920s, is pivoting the studio to a "'horror-first' focus with gameplay primarily built around combat, exploration and its Lovecraftian setting and story". This is a step away from the studio's mainstay, the Sherlock Holmes detective games, and I am uncertain about the choice. But let's peer through the weeds a bit further.

Frogwares delivered The Sinking City back in 2019, and while that game had its share of fiasco post-launch thanks to a distributor dispute, it has since returned to the storefronts. The developers have managed to become the sole publisher and could chart out the franchise’s future. Today, we’re getting word that The Sinking City 2 is in the works from Frogwares, and we should see it come out sometime in 2025.

The Xbox Partner Preview showcase offered us a look at a number of the third-party games heading to Xbox Series X/S this year. Jeff Wadlow, writer and director of the new Blumhouse horror movie Imaginary, has revealed that classic works of fantasy were a big influence on the film, especially the creation of the Never-Ever, an otherworldly universe and kingdom of imagination that our characters are plunged into as the film continues.

Pre-orders for an unannounced S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy for PlayStation 4 have gone up at Japanese retailers like Biccamera, Neowing, and Rakuten Books. It will launch on June 27 in Japan for 6,578 yen.

If you're looking to bring a bit of summer sun into the lingering bleakness of a waning winter, then boy do I have a recommendation for you — assuming you're up for some pitch-black, emotionally pulverising horror. Mediterranea Inferno, last year's dazzling visual novel from The Milky Way Prince creator Lorenzo Redaelli, is out now on PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch.

With all of the gory appeal of a cheesy horror movie, The Outlast Trials works even better than it did when I played it in Early Access last year. There’s just something magical about hiding with your besties in wardrobes and under beds as a deeply rude lady with a power drill for a hand hunts you down. What better way to spend a Friday night with the lads? Each of its death games is unique and filled with devilish and gruesome horrors, including formidable killers with cunning and lethal AI, and upgrading your character’s abilities and gadgets is a fantastic reward for surviving all those bloody corridors. Its biggest weakness is that there just aren’t that many levels to play, which isn’t a great feeling when matches are supposed to be all about striking fear into you and your BFFs. Still, my crew and I had a lot of fun with The Outlast Trials, even if that novelty bled out quicker than we would have liked.

2023 was a year filled with some incredible horror games, and the Dead Space remake was one that was included in many best-of lists at the end of the year. It was even included as a runner-up in our article on the best horror game of 2023. If you've been waiting for an opportunity to pick it up for yourself, you can now grab a physical copy for PS5 or Xbox Series X at a fantastic low price.

New week, new videogames, new newsblog. It's another relatively quiet week for big name PC releases - no mega-sequels or adaptations, unless you're seriously into the Moomins - but if 2024 has taught me anything it's that a breakout hit can come from anywhere, and I will accordingly be watching this week's new games with deep suspicion and barely constrained panic.

Somber Echoes is a sci-fi Metroidvania that developer Rock Pocket Games, Lav Games, and publisher Bonus Stage call a "love letter" to the genre. It's set 3000 years in the future aboard the Greco-Roman spaceship called Atromitos, where "infested horrors from another dimension" now run rampant. It features seven visually distinct districts and is powered by Unreal Engine 5. It's due out on PC this Fall.

Terror at Oakheart is a brand new horror RPG explicitly inspired by classic slashers from the '80s and '90s, and less explicitly by NES and SNES horror games like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Clock Tower. It only just released this week, but it already has 96% positive Steam reviews at the time of writing, as well as a free demo that any self-respecting horror fan would do well not to miss.

Alan Wake 2 is a wild ride in nearly every sense of the word, and to match the game's oddball energy, composer Petri Alanko used some, err, unconventional 'toys' to bring the nightmarish soundtrack to life. 

There would be no Resident Evil without Sweet Home, the 1989 Japanese horror movie directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, now better known for films like Cure, Pulse, and Creepy. Sweet Home had a huge influence on Capcom’s groundbreaking foray into survival horror, largely in part because the original Resident Evil began development as a remake of a video game based on Sweet Home.

Courage the Cowardly Dog is one of the coolest cartoon shows to come out of the early 2000s. A cartoon with horror elements about a pink dog who’s a scaredy cat? That’s art, baby.

Paranormal Activity — the found-footage horror series that's spawned seven movies since its debut instalment blew up the box office in 2009 — is being turned into a game by The Mortuary Assistant developer DarkStone Digital horror and renowned indie horror publisher DreadXP.

The new Alone in the Dark arrives in only a few short weeks, and publisher THQ Nordic has dropped a new trailer, showcasing some of its unique features. Much like the classic Resident Evil 2, players can play through the game as one of two different characters, Edward and Emily, with the experience changing based on which one you pick. The trailer shows how even character interactions will change based on who you play as. We also get a further look at Derceto Manor and its colorful cast of characters – it seems like interacting with them will be what really sets Alone in the Dark apart from your typical Resident Evil wannabe fare. Between movies like Dune: Part Two, Longlegs, Furiosa, Horizon, and Twisters, it’s already shaping up to be a pretty big year for movies. But even with all those big titles on the way, I Saw the TV Glow might still be the most exciting release of the year. The new horror movie from director Jane Schoenbrun got its first trailer on Wednesday, and it looks incredible.

From the studio that brought us Talk to Me and Herdiatry comes a new horror movie I Saw the TV Glow, and judging by the first trailer, it looks just as chilling as you’d expect.

Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus games for March 2024; four games will be available to active PlayStation Plus members starting March 5 through April 1.

Last May, Red Barrels unleashed the nightmare that was The Outlast Trials to Early Access. The third installment (or fourth if you count Whistleblower as a separate entry) in the terrifyingly disturbing horror series leans more towards multiplayer, and version 1.0 is about to drop on y’all.

On paper, Saint Maud and Love Lies Bleeding don't sound like they have very much in common. Other than both being directed by Rose Glass, the former is a quiet horror-esque tale about a nurse who slowly loses her grip on reality after a terrible workplace accident, while the former is a violent, '80s-set romance-thriller packed full of synth-pop anthems.

Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer for new horror movie The Watchers – or The Watched if you're in the UK – and if folklore frights are your favorite sub-genre, then it's safe to say you're not going to want to miss this one.

DarkStone Digital, solo developer of The Mortary Assistant, is making a new horror game based on Paramount's Paranormal Activity films. Titled Paranormal Activity: Found Footage, it's being published by DreadXP and features some kind of reactive haunt system, with scares dialling up and down based on your actions. DreadXP have shared a teaser consisting of some crackly logos against a backdrop of radio chatter. Given that this is a Paranormal Activity adaptation, it's possible the trailer harbours spooky secrets. You may wish to experiment with turning the brightness up and down, playing the video backwards, or watching it again at the next full moon, perhaps while standing in a cemetery loudly declaring that ghosts aren't real.
