Between movies like Dune: Part Two, Longlegs, Furiosa, Horizon, and Twisters, it’s already shaping up to be a pretty big year for movies. But even with all those big titles on the way, I Saw the TV Glow might still be the most exciting release of the year. The new horror movie from director Jane Schoenbrun got its first trailer on Wednesday, and it looks incredible.
The trailer introduces us to Owen (Justice Smith) and his friend Maddy (Brigette Lundy-Paine) and their shared love of a TV show. But after the show is canceled, the lines of their reality start to blur as everything slips closer to the TV show’s world than their own.
I Saw the TV Glow doesn’t quite look like any other movie coming out in 2024. It’s drenched in quietly creepy neon lights and filled with bizarre images that sit delicately on the line between recognizable reality and the world of its in-universe TV show. And that’s just in the trailer.
But all of this excellent atmosphere shouldn’t be too surprising if you’ve seen Schoebrun’s last movie, We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, a tiny indie movie shot mostly on webcams that is one of the best and most unnerving horror movies of the last several years.
I Saw the TV Glow premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year and is set to arrive in theaters on May 3.

There are plenty of ways to roam the land of Hyrule in Breath of the Wild, but few are as well-developed as horse riding. Toss in the ability to discover Malanya, the horse god, and there’s a lot to unpack with this down-to-earth travel method.
After SMIC was reportedly setting up chip production for Huawei to start mass production of 5nm wafers later this year, China’s biggest semiconductor manufacturer is now rumored to be assembling a team dedicated to 3nm chip development. For obvious reasons, the company will seek aid to help achieve this monumental goal and, in the process, obtain complete autonomy from foreign companies and the tight grip that the U.S. has on them.

The latest update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 promised a lot of long-awaited features, but I don't think anybody, including the developers at Insomniac, expected it to include a full debug menu loaded with goofy, game-breaking features and some apparent details about the game's DLC plans.

The many regions that players have visited throughout the Pokemon games all draw inspiration from real-world locations, inspiring one fan from Amsterdam to imagine what a counterpart to their home city would look like in the world of Pokemon. Their absolutely amazing pixel art project not only captures a similar vibe to that associated with the older Pokemon games, but also does a great job of showcasing what a Netherlands-inspired region might look like in the games' world.
The action genre had a fantastic 2023, with strong new entries in banner franchises and exciting one-off movies from creators established and upcoming alike.
