Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has revealed that one developer has the role of 'Game Master,' leaving players in shambles at their power.

Nightingale is off to a good start. The horror-tinged, multiplayer survival and crafting game entered early access this week on Steam, and so far has peaked at over 32,000 players. However, like many online games, it’s had a rough first week. One of the most common complaints from users (among the usual early access fare like the lack of some quality-of-life features), according to Steam forums, is the “always online” requirement, which requires even solo players to join a server.

With Nightingale off to an average start, its developer is rolling out an offline mode as soon as possible to win fans back.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally adding its long-awaited New Game Plus mode soon, along with additional costumes and accessibility features. Insomniac finally released Spider-Man 2 on the PlayStation 5 last October to much critical and commercial success, with the game quickly becoming one of the developer's highest-selling titles of all time. As both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, players are tasked with defending New York City from a multitude of classic comic book villains, including Kraven the Hunter and a reimagined version of Venom.

Before founding Inflexion in 2021, Aaryn Flynn worked at BioWare. He's got credits on some of the studio's best-loved games, from Baldur's Gate 2 through Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic to Dragon Age: Origins and the Mass Effect trilogy. He was BioWare's general manager for several years, but left the company in 2017 following the release of the less-regarded Mass Effect: Andromeda. New survival sim Nightingale is his first early access project, and it's certainly been a learning experience, with Flynn obliged to rethink many of the things he learned about gamedev during his BioWare days. Speaking to me ahead of Nightingale's launch, Flynn talked about the difficulty of making headway as a new developer in an industry where the most successful competing live service titles have effectively become part of the landscape - indeed, a force of "gravity".

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will possibly be released on June 21, according to a well-known and reliable leaker. This leak comes shortly after Bandai Namco and FromSoftware announced that Elden Ring's DLC would get a proper gameplay reveal on February 21 at 7am PST/10am EST.

You'll have to forgive us for not spotting this sooner, but Capcom has been releasing (mostly) new Dragon's Dogma 2 gameplay trailers over the last week or so — the latest of which has just arrived. These short videos focus on individual character classes, with the first four trailers showcasing base vocations Fighter, Thief, Archer, and Mage.
