The upcoming reboot of, the popular superhero series that premiered in 2006, has been given a title.

From April 23 until May 13, the limited-time Mirrorwatch event in Overwatch 2 will reimagine its beloved heroes as villains, and vice versa. The game’s tenth season begins on April 16 and will introduce the new hero Venture to the roster.

Originally released for the PSP all the way back in 2008 and 2009 respectively, Class of Heroes and Class of Heroes 2 are returning to PlayStation over a decade later. These fairly hardcore, grind-heavy dungeon crawlers were met with hit and miss reviews back in the day, but they did manage to establish a following amongst players who enjoyed their party-building and character progression systems.

PQube has announced that Class of Heroes 1 & 2 Complete Edition will be launching on April 26th, with the collection set to be released for PC, PS5, and Switch. Sega Europe is going through some major restructuring, and as a result, it is laying off about 240 developers and letting Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War and Company of Heroes developer Relic Entertainment spin off as an independent company.

Sonic Dream Team developer Hardlight and Total War studio Creative Assembly have been hit with a round of layoffs by publisher SEGA Europe, affecting around 240 roles across Creative Assembly, SEGA Europe, and Hardlight, via IGN.

It’s called Marvel Rivals, and it will pit two teams of six heroes against each other on battlefields like Asgard and Tokyo 2099 that are built around destruction.

Legendary Japanese game developer and founder of Grasshopper Manufacture, Goichi «Suda51» Suda, has been involved with the creation and direction of many violent and action-heavy video games (and their main characters). From the hyper-sexualized chainsaw-wielding Juliet in Lollipop Chainsaw to the joke-cracking katana-wielding assassin Travis Touchdown inNo More Heroes, Suda knows how to make an interesting character and even more interesting (but sometimes divisive) video games.

Blizzard has confirmed it'll no longer be locking the playable Heroes of Overwatch 2 behind Battles Passes, with all past characters obtained this way and future ones unlocked for every player from the beginning of Season 10. The new Hero Venture will be available immediately for all players when Season 10 starts next month, with the only requirement being that newcomers must complete the first-time user experience.

Overwatch 2 heroes will be free at release starting with the launch of Season 10 in mid-April.

It's a great day for free-to-play Overwatch 2 players, but not so much for those who've been spending money on the first-person shooter to get access to new heroes as soon as possible. Blizzard has confirmed that from Season 10 onwards, new playable characters will be distributed to everyone instantly, preventing paying players from accessing new heroes faster than free-to-play users.

It's finally happening—around a year and a half after its early access launch, Overwatch 2 is removing all of its heroes, new and old, from its Battle Pass. This means that free-to-play players will soon be able to instantly access new heroes at the same time as those paying for the Premium Battle Pass without spending a penny.

Blizzard is finally making it easier to unlock new heroes in Overwatch 2. This is big news, as players regularly complain about how difficult it is to obtain new characters in the live-service shooter. Currently, people get new heroes by paying for and grinding through a battle pass, buying them outright or waiting until they become available as a reward for winning a certain number of games. That changes with the forthcoming season 10, as the company will make new and old heroes available for free to all players.

Blizzard is overhauling the way it introduces new heroes into Overwatch 2 starting in Season 10, by making them free and immediately available to all players instead of locking them behind the game's premium battle pass or a progression grind, as was previously the case.

Overwatch 2 will no longer be locking new heroes behind battle passes starting with Season 10. When free-to-play hero shooter Overwatch 2 first released in early access, it generated significant controversy for locking new heroes behind its battle passes. While it's always been possible for players to still earn new heroes in the game for free, they were buried deep in the battle pass, so anyone wanting instant access would have to pay.

Very soon, all playable heroes will be made available to all players for free, but it does not come without a catch. Previously, in Blizzard’s competitive shooter, it was necessary to either purchase the Battle Pass in which a new character was introduced or play several hours before being able to use them adequately in matches. Players could also purchase “starter kits” in the in-game store that unlocked the character and one of their skins but, ultimately, new heroes, such as Mauga in , were blocked behind a paywall for a while.

When Overwatch 2 Season 10 releases next month, players won't have to wait to play its newest hero, Venture. Rather than make its 40th hero available through the Battle Pass, Blizzard is planning to make Venture immediately available along with every other hero to date.

Digital pet RPG adventure game Yolk Heroes: A Long Tamago will launch for PC via Steam and itch.io, iOS, and Android on April 30, publisher Astrolabe Games and developer 14 Hours Productions announced. It will support English, Japanese, and Chinese language options.

The next season of Overwatch 2 will introduced a new hero, Venture, and a new way to unlock them. Ubisoft Montreal has announced For Honor Year 8, revealing plans to add a host of new content and features to their flagship 3D fighting game. This includes new heroes, maps, modes, and cosmetics as well as core changes to the game fans will welcome.

City of Heroes was recently updated with its first official update since the game shut down in 2012 with Homecoming’s Issue 27, Page 7 patch. While Homecoming, as well as other servers, have been operating and publishing updates for many years now, NCsoft gave the Homecoming team the official license to operate City of Heroes back in January.

Developer Poncle has released a new free update for bullet heaven game Vampire Survivors. The update, titled Space54, brings with it 2 new characters, 4 weapons, 1 stage and 1 relic, and is available on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS. The update is meant to celebrate Vampire Survivor’s original game engine, Phaser, which uses retro sci-fi characters as its mascots.

Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 3 and 4 are now available on PS5, having previously launched for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. The two titles are available separately for $39.99 each and as part of a two-in-one bundle. Check out the launch trailer below.

Yoshitaka Murayama, creator of the Suikoden series and scenario writer for the upcoming Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, passed away earlier this month.

In an upsetting confirmation that February is in fact winter (and that the year doesn't just start with summer like my brain thinks it should) publisher Whitethorn Games held a 2024 Winter Showcase, where they revealed the existance of a game that answers the question "what if the slimes in Slime Rancher were in mortal peril, and had swords?". The answer is apparently "be ruddy heroes in a cute Soulslike". I think this game, too, looks very cute, although Slime Heroes doesn't have a release window yet.

No More Heroes 3's director recently explained the backstory behind Travis Touchdown's disheveled appearance during the opening of the game. Originally released in 2021 for the Nintendo Switch, No More Heroes 3 sees Travis taking on the galactic superhero rankings, facing off against a number of super-powered alien and human assassins in order to become the top-ranked killer and save the world from Prince FU.

City of Heroes Homecoming, the officially licensed private City of Heroes server, has deployed it's first major update in almost a year to its beta server for testing.
