We're currently in a bit of a golden age of Sonic the Hedgehog at the moment, with well-received titles such as Frontiers and the excitement surrounding the upcoming release of Sonic x Shadow: Generations. That's mainly thanks to Sega diving into the blue blur's previous adventures and updating them for modern consoles, and the publisher is showing no signs of stopping any time soon.
Earlier today, it was claimed by an insider called Zippo that Sega plans on switching many of its existing franchises to Unreal Engine 5, with titles such as the upcoming Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio remakes set to reap the benefits. This has led many to the realization that Sonic the Hedgehog games may also be switching to Unreal Engine 5, with Nintendo Universe claiming a remake of Sonic Heroes will be one such title.
Those of you who keep up with the industry will know that Zippo has a less than favorable reputation for accurate leaks, but the chances of a Sonic Heroes remake actually being in development grew exponentially after insider Midori added her two cents, an insider who has accurately leaked the announcements of several Persona titles and the recently leaked Sonic mobile game.
According to Midori, the information about Sonic Heroes getting a remake is correct, but there are no plans for remakes of the Sonic Adventure games at present. When asked why Sega is keen on using Unreal Engine 5 instead of its own engines that it's built over the years, Midori explains that Sega plans on using these Uneal Engine 5 remakes to help their developers gain experience with other engines, which implies that Sega doesn't plan on switching entirely.
Unfortunately, none of these sources managed to pin down a potential release date for the Sonic Heroes remake, but we can safely assume it won't release this year. Sonic x Shadow Generations is the next remaster/remake that Sega is cooking at the moment, and we don't even have a release date for that just yet, with only a release window of Autumn 2024 to jot in our calenders. It feels unlikely that Sega will release two remasters in such close proximity, so chances are we'll be waiting until 2025 or 2026 at the latest.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn't one of the most popular titles out there at the moment, and the introduction of The Joker in Season 1 hasn't done much to fix that. There are a bunch of reasons for Suicide Squad's frosty reception, one of them being the treatment of iconic hero Batman, who most fans will know is bumped off by Harley Quinn.
