After beginning development in 2013 and numerous delays later, Ubisoft Singapore’s seafaring pirate action RPG, Skull & Bones, will finally set sail next week. In the meantime, you can watch the launch trailer and even jump in early with the game’s open beta, which kicks off today.

Lawrence “Florida Joker” Sullivan has once again put out a message to Rockstar Games over the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, but he seems to be dropping his threats of legal action. Sullivan’s mugshot went viral in 2017 due to his facial tattoos baring a resemblance to The Joker of DC Comics fame, and he would gain newfound infamy shortly after Rockstar released the first trailer for the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 back in December. Included in this trailer was a brief shot of a similarly tattooed criminal being taken to court, and Sullivan quickly accused Rockstar of stealing his look.

Team NINJA, one of the most acclaimed action game studios thanks to its portfolio of franchises like Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, Dead or Alive, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (not to mention the spinoff Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin), is readying its release of Rise of the Ronin.

Clouded Leopard Entertainment will release The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell O Zemuria in Asia with Japanese audio and Traditional Chinese and Korean text in 2024, the publisher announced.

Cities: Skylines II developer Colossal Order has a uniquely close relationship with its community. The original Cities: Skylines came out in 2015 and gobbled up the audience that was left behind by EA’s SimCity, which came out in 2013 and was a busted mess. Cities: Skylines scratched that urban-planning itch, plus it cost just $30. The game came first to PC, Mac and Linux with modest hardware requirements, and it hit consoles within two years. Critically, Cities: Skylines also supported mods through the Steam Workshop, allowing players to add their own tools to the game and share those features with others.

If you’ve been itching to see retro games be given a bit of a pep in this modern gaming world, Nvidia’s RTX modding toolkit is already realizing that dream. With the open beta now out, prepare yourselves for an upscaled return of some classics.

Basically the only sort of strategy games I like are city builders, so I was interested in the playtest for El Dorado: The Golden City Builder, which casts you as the leader of an ancient Mayan-ish city. The playtest is only the prologue, but the eventual goal is to take over the Yucatán peninsula, and if nothing else it's refreshing to see a city-builder that doesn't feel overwhelmingly European. It also has a complicated system of religion. Whereas in a similarly polytheistic game like Zeus, the gods would turn up to stomp on buildings and/or bless them, at fairly large intervals, in El Dorado I was getting a home immolated every few days. Building shrines that have an area of effect, and that require resources to run and protect your town, is its own supply chain in El Dorado. This is a very interesting idea that I liked.

Timberborn, a city-building game where mankind has perished and been replaced by “lumberpunk” beavers, has received its biggest update yet.

The next Cyberpunk game from CD Projekt - currently codenamed "Orion" - might have multiplayer in it, according to co-CEO Michal Nowakowski. Please let it be some kind of deckhead 'passenger-seat-driver' mode, where you get to play a crusty celeb uploaded to another character's brain implants, who strolls around the landscape as a hologram, offering gritty commentary on your Night City-based endeavours.
