Mid-week can be fun and if you're like us, you'll score a quick and easy win in today's game. Many of the categories just fit right into things that we know, which is always helpful when it comes to this particular daily game.

We've had a fair number of exciting new game releases lately, and they've all had a moment to shin in the UK's physical games chart. This time, though, it's the turn of South Park: Snow Day, which makes a perhaps surprising debut at number three. It's behind usual hits EA Sports FC 24 and Hogwarts Legacy, with the PS5 version the most popular.

The monthly PS Plus Essential update has arrived, granting all members of Sony's subscription service access to three new PS5, PS4 titles. They're available to download now across the UK and Europe, and availability will spread to the USA later on in the day. Here's what can be redeemed between now and Tuesday, 7th May 2024:

Unicorn Overlord, the typically gorgeous Vanillaware strategy RPG that released in early March, has now sold over 500,000 copies. The news comes directly from publisher Atlus, via the game's new accolades trailer (which just so happens to include your favourite PlayStation website).

Thomas Young and CatCup Games are bringing another version of Dadish on mobile soon. This time it’s 3D. They just dropped a Dadish 3D trailer for the upcoming game and it looks freaking cute. The game is expected to be released on April 23rd on Android, iOS, Switch and PC.

I love Among Us, and if you’ve played it, you probably love it, too. It’s hilarious, cute and totally addictive. Now, they’ve made the game more fun with a new mode. It’s the Among Us Long Mode, or in other words, the Looooooong Mode!

A new patch for Overwatch 2 rolled out Monday that promises a “really, really, really balanced” version of the game. Just as the Helldivers 2 community was trying to make sense of mysterious cloaked ships and get to grips with a balance-changing update that adds new planetary hazards, players found more additions to the game developer Arrowhead failed to announce up front in the patch notes.

The minimalist roguelike “The Last Game” dropped a content update recently, bringing fresh faces, frosty foes, and fiery fun to your next playthrough.

It’s no surprise that AI was perhaps the biggest topic of discussion at this year’s Game Developers Conference. The emerging technology was all over the convention’s show floor, with massive booths showcasing demos from companies like Inworld. Shadows Of The Damned launched during a fascinating part of the PS3 era, where EA suddenly started publishing smaller titles, like the equally iconic Alice: Madness Returns. The business model didn’t last long, but we’re still grateful for the aforementioned third-person shooter, which was co-designed by industry icons Suda51 and Shinji Mikami. And as previously reported it’s getting a PS5 and PS4 remaster, due out later this year.

Square Enix has started a documentary series which delves into the creation of the critically acclaimed Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. This first episode, Shaping the World, discusses how the developer reimagined the original game’s sprawling PS1 map into an enormous PS5 sandbox. It features anecdotes from directors Naoki Hamaguchi and Tetsuya Nomura, among many other key personnel.

Helldivers 2 players have reported encountering unsanctioned Super Earth weaponry and equipment in the wild since the game first launched. Almost immediately, players were running into mechs, vehicles, and even an incredibly cool-looking armoured personnel carrier (APC), all thought to be part of Game Master Joel's plan, or at least the testing process. But a new report suggests we might be dealing with a Joel imposter, some unknown individual or individuals masquerading as an Arrowhead developer, with the skills required to get around the game's defences.

The development of LEGO Fortnite has been fascinating to observe. While it launched in a stable and fulfilling state, Epic Games has been gradually iterating on the outing, adding fishing earlier in the year. Now it’s preparing its next major update, scheduled to deploy on 26th March: Mechanical Mayhem, which brings a trio of vehicle builds to the outing.

Rise of the Ronin has been out for just over a week now, and so we want to know what you think of Team Ninja's open world action RPG. Published by Sony itself, this PS5 exclusive was met with somewhat divided reviews, and so currently sits at a 76 on Metacritic. User impressions have been more lenient overall, but it's still hard to shake the feeling that Rise of the Ronin has struggled to make any kind of significant impact.

A new video promoting the Sonic and Lego collaboration is full of inside jokes for fans and even makes fun of some of the more eccentric types in the community. In the video, the camera keeps cutting to a fake livestream chat full of Sonic fans, and their messages reference everything from dissatisfaction with the games to the desire for a Big the Cat body pillow.

is the most recent entry in the rejuvenated video game series, which began with 2014's and was followed by 2017's. Unfortunately, whereas the previous titles were extremely well received upon their release, parodying the fantasy and superhero genres with the series' trademark sense of humor and 2D animation that made them feel like extended episodes of the show, has not had as much acclaim.

Renegade Nell is a puzzle. Boasting the creative pedigree of screenwriter Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack) and the talents of a cast of British TV stalwarts, the story of a flame-haired, 18th-century English highwaywoman with the powers of a 20th-century superhero would seem to be a shoo-in for the renfaire bitches (it’s me, I’m renfaire bitches).

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios recently received a gift package from Alan Wake 2 and Control developer Remedy Games, and it came with a letter penned by none other than Alan Wake himself. It's a fun read, an in-character mix of two game worlds worth of lore, filtered through the persona of one gaming's most iconic writers, and spliced with the events of today's industry. Expect waves upon waves of enemies, lots of loot, and this time — a quite fearsome boss at the end. Crusader Kings 3’s newest expansion, Legends of the Dead, adds two major elements to the game. The first is a sense of legacy, with individual monarchs forging out their own legends within your greater dynasty. The second is much less magnificent: the introduction of plagues. Surprising absolutely no one, they’re ruining everyone’s day in my medieval kingdom.

Pinocchio Hero: Idle RPG is an upcoming game on Android that drops on the weekend. Developed by PlunderGames and published by Gamepub, it’ll be a free-to-play game. Gamepub has published titles like Magical Girls Idle – 2400gacha, Dark Slayer: AFK RPG and Magic Spear Idle RPG.

If you want to punish yourself, you have to play this new game. Called Bat to Bed, it’s a retro-style one-button game that’s punishing but fun! Developed and published by Brothers Make Games, it’s a free game on Android. Brothers Make Games are known for other fun titles, like Duplicado – Tasty Puzzle Game.

Empire of the Ants is really effective at making you feel like a very tiny being within a much larger world. As a new strategy adventure game set in the insect kingdom, you command an army of ants to explore, expand, and extract resources in a large, near-photorealistic world that looks like it could be in someone's backyard.

GamesReview is always excited when we are considered for Kickstarter preview coverage, but we still only choose to preview games we think we will enjoy. The trouble with doing preview work is you walk that fine line between being a marketing tool and actually providing solid coverage on a game. Plug In Digital’s occult puzzle game Strange Horticulture has finally dropped on Android. Developed by Bad Vikings, the game is currently priced at $5.49 on Android. The game was initially released on Steam in January 2022.

Despite Helldivers 2 players being encouraged to move away from their enthusiastic bug-squashing in favor of some brutal bot-smashing, there are still a surprising amount of Helldivers not joining in on the latest Major Order, which isn't very democratic of them. 

The original Fight Crab answered a question I never even knew I needed the answer to: what if someone made an an anime arena fighter with hilariously unreliable individual-limb controls, and also every character was a crab? It’s a ridiculously stupid combo, but in the best kind of way – it’s the sort of irreverent, dumb fun that throws every rule of video games out the window for the sake of making you grin from ear to ear. Fight Crab 2 ups the ante with not only with a wider variety of selectable shelled warriors and ridiculous weaponry, but also a new kind of campaign mode that answers an even sillier question: what if it was also like Monster Rancher too?

I’ll never climb a 20-foot ogre in real life. That’s something I’ve had to contend with for a while but now, in Dragon’s Dogma 2, I can do just that. It’s a thrill not limited to ogres but a whole host of mythical monsters found inside Capcom’s latest. Griffins, golems, chimeras… I’ve scaled the lot. Each one I ascended really got me thinking that more games should let you climb giant creatures. It’s a feature that’s not only an incredibly tangible way of conveying that feeling of taking down a fearsome beast, but also cleverly transforms towering threats into walking puzzles that require dexterity, smarts, and of course, brute strength to take down. It really is something other action games should look to replicate.

Blizzard has shared a Phase 3 Preview video for Season of Discovery, which launches on April 4, 2024 globally. In the preview video, Blizzard explains all the new features coming in Phase 3, including 6 new runes per class, a new outdoor PvE event called Nightmare Incursions, and the new 20-player raid with 8 bosses, Sunken Temple!

BitCraft: Age of Automata’s announcement way back in 2021 caused quite the commotion in the IGN community, and I’m not going to lie: I was sceptical. Though this survival-crafting sandbox MMO looked absolutely beautiful, I wanted to see some evidence of how exactly players are supposed to craft this world together from the ground up.

In the costumes that Peach wears have gotten a lot of the spotlight as they provide Peach with unique abilities and personas, but the multitude of dresses that Peach can unlock in the game are no less spectacular. Over the course of her adventures in the Sparkle Theater, Peach can unlock almost 40 gowns that she can wear while walking around the theater and at the beginning of many levels. These beautiful dresses will even appear in her cutscenes, can add a bit of unique flavor, and are often tied to achievements.

Adapting Cixin Liu’s scientifically dense novel The Three-Body Problem is no easy feat. The book is filled with page after page of detailed descriptions of scientific processes, from the impact three suns would have on a single planet to how a proton-sized supercomputer could interfere with the results of every particle accelerator on Earth simultaneously.

With the current Major Order looking all but complete, Helldivers 2 players are attempting to rally their fellow soldiers to the fight on Mantes. The issue, though, is that plenty of people don't fancy the fight against the Automatons.
