In just a few days, Final Fantasy 14 will play host to the Final Fantasy 15 collaboration event, which will run from February 28 to March 13. Originally launched in 2019, the collaboration event between Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 15 last appeared in Eorzea in 2021, a few months before the launch of Endwalker, and gave players a chance to claim some rewards based on Final Fantasy 15.

Though the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is just days away, Square Enix confirmed that an update for the free demo of the highly-anticipated title will go live on Wednesday, February 21, around 7:00 AM Eastern. The new update to the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth demo will give players an exclusive glimpse at the Junon area and will bring some fixes to the demo's Performance Mode.

Alongside the expected open-world fare of side quests and treasure hunting is a brand-new collectible card game, Queen's Blood, playable all across Gaia.

is taking cues from previous sequels. But even to begin with, sequels are few and far between. Since each series entry distinguishes itself so well from what comes before and after, very few of them have such direct sequels as has. While it's not totally unheard of, this is the first game to get a direct sequel in over a decade, and probably the first ever to be planned from the beginning as a trilogy.

Sephiroth looks a little different in , but that may be a good thing. As a reimagining of the original game, the trilogy makes a number of changes to its story, setting, and characters. Many of these are minor, like the gentle rearrangement of certain story events to make the plot flow better in a linear format. Others, however, are much more significant, adding a ton of depth to otherwise two-dimensional characters, and quite possibly changing other characters' fates entirely.

Although was dubbed a modern masterpiece for its thrilling approach to action RPG combat and its daring approach to mature storytelling, it also had some obvious gaps, some of which seemed to hint towards answers in future DLC.

The revelation of Cid Highwind in occurred in the weirdest way possible. Cid is a classic character from the original who is making a revamped reappearance in the upcoming sequel to. In the original title, Cid Highwind is an ex-Shinra engineer who lives in Rocket Town and defies his previous employers. His most notable contribution is lending the Tiny Bronco plane to the party so that they can traverse Midgar. He is unlockable as a playable character.

The compilation of remakes packaged as is currently a mobile exclusive, free-to-play game, but many fans are likely hopeful for a port to consoles like Switch and PlayStation 5, or even Xbox and PC. The were initially launched on PC and mobile, but they were later ported to PS4 and Switch. was also a mobile-only title, but it was ported to home consoles and PC several months after its initial release.
