Final Fantasy 14 has released Patch 6.57, which sets the stage for its open beta on Xbox, as well as offering some quality-of-life changes to help players catch up in time for Dawntrail. It's no secret that Endwalker has been the most successful Final Fantasy 14 expansion yet, doubling the game's subscriber count, and offering an enticing alternative for World of Warcraft players interested in a classical MMO experience. Endwalker finished the Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga that began in A Realm Reborn, and the slate is now clean for the next chapter of its tale.
The announcement of Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail established that the next expansion would take players on an adventure to the New World, with two new jobs becoming available at launch: Viper and Pictomancer. Dawntrail will also feature a second limited job with its Beastmaster, which is expected to be released in the latter half of the expansion. However, until the Warriors of Light set foot on Tural, Endwalker still has a lot of content to offer, especially to new players who have only begun their journey on Etheirys.
Patch 6.57 for Final Fantasy 14 was released on February 13, and Square Enix shared its official patch notes across social media. Though it's not considered a large Final Fantasy 14 content update, it comes with a few significant changes worthy of mention: the cap for Allagan Tomestones of Comedy has been doubled, the weekly loot restriction on Anabaseios (Savage) has been lifted, and Thaleia has joined the Alliance Roulette in the Duty Finder.
Another important aspect of Patch 6.57 is that it prepares Final Fantasy 14 for its Xbox launch, as the open beta for both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will begin on February 21. A convenient benefit that Xbox players will possess is the ability to skip typing their login credentials: simply connecting their Xbox and Final Fantasy 14 accounts will allow them to directly enter the game. Unfortunately, a Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate subscription will be required to play Final Fantasy 14 on Microsoft's console, a restriction that PlayStation doesn't impose on its users.
Whereas newcomers have the Main Scenario Quests to dive into, veterans can dedicate themselves to housing in Final Fantasy 14, as the end of an expansion is often the best time to win the lottery. Furthermore, there is always profit to be made in Treasure Maps, and with the doubled cap on Tomestones, increased rewards for completing Wondrous Tails, and removing loot restrictions in Anabaseios, gearing up alt jobs for Dawntrail has never been easier.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has been a huge success and is 2024’s highest-rated game on Metacritic at the time of writing. However, despite the praise there is one part of the game that needs a little tweak as players have noted that in Performance mode the lighting may be a little off.
Square Enix released the hugely anticipated action RPG Final Fantasy VII Rebirth last Thursday, garnering widespread critical acclaim. Our Kai Powell gave it a perfect score:
Here’s a story that honestly has a bit of “history” attached to it in a way you might not recall. You see, in the earliest days of gaming, the phrase “going gold” meant that you had finished the game and put everything on a literal gold-style disc so you could hand it off to the people making copies of your game and thus get them into the hands of the public. The problem is that if you gave the people the wrong disc? You were screwed. What does that have to do with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth? Well, in Japan, a certain ‘mistake’ has come to life with how the discs were printed.
We’re almost there! We’re almost at the release date for the second title in the “remake saga” for Square Enix’s beloved title. The game is anticipated in so many ways it’s hard to define, so that’s why you might be surprised that Final Fantasy VII Remake, the game that kicked the remake saga, has just gotten an update! Given that it’s been four years since the initial remake title dropped, you might have to wonder why they’re updating anything now. The answer is that some small changes to Tifa and Aerith have been done to possibly “tie into” the upcoming game more.
In the video game industry, many people stick around with the company they’re attached to for quite a while for multiple reasons. They might just like the company they work at. Or, they might be trying to gain “higher ranks” there. Another reason might be they know that their talents or ideas might be more appreciated at that particular company because they’ve worked there for so long. But, on the other side of things, people sometimes depart gaming companies somewhat randomly, including because they want to “move on to a new challenge,” which is what the creator of Final Fantasy did after a while at Square before it became Square Enix.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake has received a new surprise update almost four years after its original release, fixing bugs but also breaking one popular mod. The second installment of Final Fantasy 7 Remake is about to be released, and it seems that Square Enix is trying to polish the previous game a bit for people who may be playing it this week.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is just a few days away from its PlayStation 5 launch, but the rave critic reviews have already kicked up the hype even further. Our Kai Powell rated the game with a perfect score, and the average review score from critics is the highest for the whole series since 2000's Final Fantasy IX.

That’s a key thing to state: it comes out on Thursday! After years of waiting after the release of the first remake title, the sequel is almost here, and gamers can’t wait to see what the title is like in full. To their credit, Square Enix has been doing its job with hyping up the game to nearly insane levels. They even released a massive number of review codes so that nearly everyone would sing the game’s praises, and it worked!
