Yes, McLoughlin answered, still not missing a beat. And he said Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, YouTube’s biggest creator, was to blame.

Blizzard Entertainment announced that Overwatch 2’s next crossover is with Cowboy Bebop, and a snazzy trailer recreates the anime’s iconic opening with the collaboration’s character skins.

Overwatch 2’s second anime crossover event will bring the characters (and music) of Cowboy Bebop to the team-based hero shooter on March 12, Blizzard Entertainment announced Thursday. The collab will add new Cowboy Bebop-inspired skins, emotes, highlight intros, and more to Overwatch 2, including an Ein skin for Wrecking Ball that all players will be able to unlock for free.

In a recent interview with The Verge’s Decoder podcast, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini revealed that the anime-focused streaming service was experimenting with implementing AI-generated subtitles for the service’s library of titles. Purini’s proposition was that AI could expedite the workflow of subtitling and closed captioning in order to launch episodes “as close to the Japanese release as possible” for worldwide anime fans.

Italian publisher 505 Games has shuttered several of its European offices in France, Germany, and Spain, the result of a business review conducted in September. Just yesterday, we told you that Remedy Entertainment had acquired full publishing rights for Control back from 505 Games.

Developer Remedy Entertainment has announced it has acquired the full right to the Control IP, something it previously shared with publisher 505 Games. Remedy reportedly paid 17 million euros for the privilege; however, 505 Games will remain publisher throughout 2024 while the transition takes place.

Respawn Entertainment's debut IP was Titanfall. The success of that franchise led Electronic Arts to purchase Respawn in November 2017. However, the only new game released in that universe after the acquisition is the Battle Royale Apex Legends, which is obviously quite far from Titanfall's original target audience.

Modiphius Entertainment, the studio behind science-fiction-inspired tabletop games such as Dune: Adventures in the Imperium, Fallout: Factions, and the Homeworld TTRPG has leveled up. Now, some Android Auto apps will only work when your car is fully stopped and parked. Remedy Entertainment has confirmed it has acquired the full rights to the Controlfranchise from 505 Games, the company that originally published the 2019 title.

The Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association has released the outline for Tokyo Game Show 2024, which will run from September 26 to 29 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan. This year’s theme is “Trailblaze the World with Gaming.”

Electronic Arts is laying off 5% of its workforce, or around 670 of the company’s workers. EA employed around 13,400 people by the end of last March, according to a regulatory filing. Sixty-five percent of those employees are located outside the U.S., it said at the time. Notifying impacted employees “has already begun and will be largely completed by early next quarter,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson wrote in a note to staff published Wednesday.

Remedy Entertainment, the developer behind 2019’s Control and critically acclaimed games like Alan Wake 2, now fully owns the rights to the Control franchise. That means the Finnish studio now has full, for the lack of a better word, control over the future of this series, including its sequel and multiplayer spin-off.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles : Wrath of the Mutants has been announced for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. The game was previously an arcade only exclusive, and this marks the first time it will be available on console, GameMill Entertainment has stated. The beat-em up allows for solo players to go through the game themselves, or team up in four player co-op.

A lot has changed at HTC in the decade since a small team broke off to form its mixed reality division. In fact, it’s a fundamentally different business in several meaningful ways. For one thing, you can’t call HTC a phone company any longer. Contrary to popular perception, the Taiwanese corporation does still produce handsets — primarily mid-range devices for the Asia market.

A new Twisted Metal project has reportedly been cancelled as part of today's layoffs across Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Twisted Metal game, which was said to be a live service, was rumoured to be in developed at Firesprite, a Sony-owned studio that is affected by today's layoffs.

XD Entertainment has just dropped their second major update for Sword of Convallaria, their upcoming action RPG.  Called ‘The Expansion of the Sword of Convallaria,’ this update has made major additions to the game. XD Entertainment has made a bunch of action games before, including Sausage Man, Torchlight: Infinite, T3 Arena and Flash Party.

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced today that the corporation will cut around 8% of its workforce, or more than 900 jobs. Also, in the announcement, they stated that PlayStation Studios London will be closing.

Sony Interactive Entertainment is laying off around 900 workers, or 8% of the company, outgoing president and CEO Jim Ryan said in a news release published on Tuesday. Employees from all regions — North America; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; Japan; and Asia-Pacific — are impacted by the cuts, including several PlayStation development studios. London Studio, the in-house team that created the SingStar series, will close entirely, Ryan said.

Ever since the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies were announced, two-part films have been a scourge on blockbuster cinema. At their best, they’ve often felt like hollow attempts to stretch lucrative material into something even more profitable. At worst, they’ve felt like two incomplete halves that make up a disappointing whole. But Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Dune feels like a special exception. The first movie, publicly billed as Dune and revealed as Dune: Part One only in the credits, handled the world-building and all the expositional heavy lifting. It all came with the understanding that the conclusion could be an all-killer, no-filler science fiction epic. And that’s exactly what Dune: Part Two delivers.

My experiments with VR have led to some strange experiences, as well as a few action-packed titles. The next batch of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass this month was just revealed. Leading the pack of games being added to the subscription service today is Tales of Arise, a critically acclaimed RPG from Bandai Namco Entertainment that Xbox previously leaked was coming to the service.
