Gearbox is reportedly ready to part ways with Embracer

It’s been officially announced that Saber Interactive is splitting from parent company Embracer Group, with the deal also seeing the latter divesting many (but not all) of the studios that had been previously operating under the Saber label. But what exactly does the deal stipulate for Metro developer 4A Games, which lists Saber Interactive as its parent company?

Earlier this year, Readyverse Studios – co-founded by blockchain tech company Futureverse and Ernest Cline, the mind behind the sci-fi franchise Ready Player One – announced “The Readyverse,” an interactive platform for metaverse games and experiences. Readyverse Studios partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) to help bring the popular novel to the metaverse across web3. WBD distributed the 2018 film adaptation directed by Stephen Spielberg.

In a real "no thanks, I hate it" move that seems to be aimed at making me, specifically, have some kind of coronary event, Walker Labs and Readyverse studios have announced a new battle royale game, designed with Ernest "I Tip My Hat To You, Sir!" Cline. Cline, who you will remember is the writer of Ready Player One, is apparently one of the co-founders of Readyverse, and I'm sad to see he's still in search of a second idea. Open (that's the name of the game, but it's in all caps in their press assets) is an "immersive multiverse filled with nostalgia-infused biomes featuring characters and cultural legends across iconic franchises", coming to early access this year. Also it somehow involves web3.

The story of My Adventures With Superman will continue at DC Comics, with a miniseries bridging the gap between its first and upcoming second season, written by show producer and writer Josie Campbell.

With the release of the trailer for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, Elden Ring has gotten a massive boost to its concurrent player counts across platforms. Elden Ring saw a spike in concurrent players when the DLC was first revealed. As players await the content update to drop, this uptick in reignited fan interest is continuing to rise.

We’ve already had an unusual number of showcases and announcements this year, and it seems this particular train is going to keep right on rolling. Today Microsoft announced an Xbox Partner Preview, which will showcase over a dozen trailers for games coming to PC, Xbox, and/or Game Pass.

Embracer is closing in on sales of Saber Interactive and Gearbox, it’s reported, with the company looking to shed two of its most noteworthy acquisitions of the last few years in an effort to dig itself out of a financial hole.

It's looking increasingly likely that Gearbox Entertainment is going to be sold by Embracer. In a town hall with staff earlier this week, CEO and co-founder Randy Pitchford reportedly told staff that a decision had been made regarding the studio's future, with more details to be shared in March.

Details about Venom 3 have been kept pretty under wraps, but a new set picture may have given us our biggest clue yet. In an image shared by Eddie Brock/Venom star Tom Hardy on Instagram, we can see his character wearing a familiar outfit.
