Given that it’s been four years since the initial remake title dropped, you might have to wonder why they’re updating anything now. The answer is that some small changes to Tifa and Aerith have been done to possibly “tie into” the upcoming game more.

Nobuo Uematsu—legendary music composer for a host of video games including the Final Fantasy franchise—has revealed that he doesn’t think he can compose the soundtrack for an entire game ever again. Caught by VGC, Uematsu made the feeling clear while talking to German publication Zeit Online.

In an interview that took place days before the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, game director Naoki Hamaguchi stated that he had no idea during the game's development that Sephiroth would be included in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC fighter. Hamaguchi also stated that none of the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth development team had a clue at the time either, and claimed that he only found out when the public did.

PlayStation-exclusive third-person shooter Foamstars has revealed plans for its content-rich Season 2 update. The 4v4 multiplayer game has drawn countless comparisons to the Nintendo-exclusive series Splatoon upon its unveiling, but Foamstars has been blazing its own trail since launching in early February 2024.

The Nier community is currently aflutter after what some are taking to be a tease for Nier 3.

In December last year, Square Enix announced two expansions for Final Fantasy 16, with the first, Echoes of the Fallen being shadow-dropped at the time, and the second, The Rising Tide, set for a Spring 2024 launch, and with Spring not too far away now, new details on the latter are set to be shared next month.

Square Enix has expanded Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s demo with a new area and made visual improvements to the game when played in performance mode.

In just a few days, Final Fantasy 14 will play host to the Final Fantasy 15 collaboration event, which will run from February 28 to March 13. Originally launched in 2019, the collaboration event between Final Fantasy 14 and Final Fantasy 15 last appeared in Eorzea in 2021, a few months before the launch of Endwalker, and gave players a chance to claim some rewards based on Final Fantasy 15.

My experience with Warhams isn't flat zero - I had some minifigs when I was a teenager and played a few of the Dawn Of War video games - but I haven't actively checked in on it for a while. My experience with cleaning-stuff-sim PowerWash Simulator is extensive, though, and I was excited when the crossover with Warhammer 40K was teased a while back. Last night we got a full trailer and release date of Frebruary 27th - next week! - and I'm now earnestly very excited. The trailer is both very funny and shows off massive things to clean. Win win, innit.

After a long wait, PowerWash Simulator developer FuturLab has finally announced the release date for its upcoming collaboration with Games Workshop for a DLC about Warhammer 40,000 with a new trailer. UPDATE 4.45pm UK: Consider me educated. I have looked into this further, and it turns out not only is Trinity the name of the military order in the rebooted Tomb Raider games, but it is also the code name for the first detonation of a nuclear weapon, which was conducted by the United States Army back in 1945. And that could be what the Tomb Raider website is referring to. Whoops!

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the second instalment in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, is out in a matter of days, and excitement surrounding its release is sky high. Given the very nature of the series and the rabid fandom the Final Fantasy 7 in particular generally goes hand-in-hand with, it’s no surprise, that there are many who also already have their eye on the trilogy’s third and final instalment as well. That, incidentally, includes Square Enix as well.

A Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover event kicked off in Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis on February 16. This development arrives mere weeks ahead of the much-anticipated RPG's release, as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is scheduled to launch on February 29.
