After being stuck in development hell, the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake is reportedly being built again from the ground up at its new veteran Ubisoft studio. After taking over the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake project, the new devs have allegedly changed nearly everything that was created by the former team working on it.

Evil Empire is giving some fans a chance to play The Rogue Prince of Persia early. The studio's offer arrives in the form of a newly announced The Rogue Prince of Persia closed alpha test.

The prodigal Prince has returned, and his comeback has gone down so well that he is doing it a second time. After his Metroidvania adventures in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which came out in January, gaming's iconic dual-blade wielding royalty is coming back for seconds in The Rogue Prince of Persia, a new 2D action-platforming rogue-lite title, arriving in Early Access on Steam on May 14. Developed by Dead Cells maker Evil Empire and published by Ubisoft, the next Prince of Persia game flaunts a colourful, cartoony art style and features platforming and action combat familiar to the series.

Another Prince of Persia game will hit the market on May 14 following a mid-April announcement, a prominent industry insider has claimed. Much like the recently released PoP: The Lost Crown, the upcoming title is said to be a spin-off instead of a new mainline entry in the Prince of Persia franchise.

Word has it that a new Prince of Persia game is being developed by Evil Empire, the studio behind the hit indie roguelike Dead Cells — and it might launch sometime later this year. Ubisoft’s legendary Prince of Persia franchise had been nearly dormant for over 10 years when a new side-scrolling spin-off titled Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was launched to rave reviews in January. Despite reportedly underperforming in sales, The Lost Crown was praised for its Metroidvania gameplay that blended platforming, combat, and puzzle-solving.

The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown director has announced some interesting developments for the game, promising free updates, additional content, and new modes to enhance players' experiences in the coming months. Since its release, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has received a lot of support from fans who might be excited to know about these new developments.

In the past few years, Metroidvanias and action-adventure platformers have seen a resurgence. Ori and the Blind Forest, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells have breathed new life into the genre, bringing fresh ideas to its established ethos. There's also a renewed appetite for challenging games. Dark Souls came around in 2011 and redefined what one could take away from a video game. They can be fun, sure. But they can be punishing, too. Your goal is to address one aspect of the puzzle with each pass until, with the help of your clones, you can complete the challenge. So, let’s get started, shall we?

A quest item named the Key of Kings must be foundto open the Palace of King Darius in .The Palace is one of the last locations Sargon needs to visit before the end of the game, but it is impossible to reach without the Key. You'll have to backtrack through past areas you've visited to obtain this important item.

One of the rooms in the Hyrcanian Forest area of contains a statue puzzle that can be quite difficult to solve. A riddle provides some clues to arranging three figures in certain directions for a rare reward. Those who interpret this clue correctly can unlock an item used to upgrade Sargon's weapons for their continuing journey throughout the Citadel.

The best tool in Sargon's arsenal in is an Athra Surge, a strong technique that unleashes the Immortal's channeled spirit into various attacks. These moves all have unique properties designed for different encounters with enemies across the Citadel. However, the limited amount of Surges you can equip makes some abilities better to have than others.

Like other games found in the Metroid-Vania genre, it’s easy to lose your bearings as you travel through the many different areas found in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Luckily, there are maps you can discover that will make exploring the expansive Citadel much easier. There are a total of 14 areas in the game, meaning there are also 14 maps that you collect.

After you’ve made your way through the prologue of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and started the central map of this fast-paced Metroidvania, you’ll find yourself quickly at the Old Royal Road area of the game. The area may look small, but it does hide some useful collectibles that you’re going to want to scoop up as you make your way through.

The best upgrades you can get in help enhance many of Sargon's items and weapons to deal with the first big challenges faced on Mount Qaf. A particular improvement may change a difficult boss fight into a much easier encounter. Since many upgrades are very cheap toward the start of the game, you may have a hard time choosing one.

Alternate versions of Sargon appear as recurring bosses for you to find and beat throughout your adventure in . These dark reflections have the same skills as you but are equipped with extra Athra abilities, making them a challenging fight every time. You will need to overcome your bad habits and learn about your own weaknesses to take down these mirrored reflections.

The maximum number of health bars Sargon has in can be increased when you find special items called Soma Petals scattered across the Citadel. Putting four Petals together forms a flower that makes you able to fight for a longer time during your adventure. However, these artifacts are only found when you overcome great challenges presented in different areas of your map.

As you pursue Anahita into the Upper City of the Citadel in , you will be stopped by a Chakram puzzle with two lion statues that may be difficult to solve. This platforming section relies on the alternate form of Menolias' Bow that transforms the weapon into a spinning blade. This Chakram can interact with the world to open up new paths, but must be used carefully for this puzzle.

Starring a new cast of characters, tells an all-new story, with an ending that leaves the game open to further sequels. The first major entry in the franchise since the 2010 release of, takes the form of an action-heavy metroidvania with a narrative centered around protagonist Sargon's quest to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan from the old city of Mount Qaf, which is where the game mainly takes place. While the story is mostly straightforwardly told, there are a few significant twists.

Time Powers are unique abilities in that help Sargon on his adventures. Each Time Power lets him manipulate time just the right way to unlock previously blocked paths or confront more significant threats. By the end of the game, you will have six exciting time powers you can wield to rescue Prince Ghassan.

The giant boar Erlik is a boss you can defeat in both their living and undead forms in , but each is faced with very different circumstances. You first encounter this beast as a mandatory obstacle in the way of your main story quest. However, continuing to explore Mount Qaf will reveal an opportunity to face Erlik again, only this time as an optional opponent.

During the second level of , Sargon must try to beat a conjured knight known only as the Sword Master. This strange and deadly warrior is summoned through a ritual circle created by Sargon's old master, Anahita, as she kidnaps Prince Ghassan. Before you can unravel Mount Qaf's mysteries, you have to overcome this challenging mini-boss.

Before you reach the Metroidvania exploration of , you must beat the powerful leader of an invading Kushan army, General Uvishka. This boss is the first of many you'll face, but is one of the harder enemies to defeat due to Sargon's limited abilities. Uvishka serves as the first real challenge for players who are just beginning to understand the combat systems of the game.

One of the first major bosses you will come across in is Jahandar, a terrifying Manticore that can be a challenge to beat. Since you encounter this destroyer of mortals so early in the game, Sargon won't have many time-altering abilities to use in the fight against the beast. You'll need to recognize attack patterns and prepare ahead of time to overcome the Manticore's wrath.

has many different layers to its combat and exploration that can be difficult for beginners to wrap their heads around without knowing some important tricks first. You play as Sargon, the youngest member of an elite group called the Immortals who defend Persia. The challenges and time-warping effects of The Citadel, where your journey takes place, will test every ability you have at your disposal.

One of the most important features in is the rare structures that allow you to fast travel between locations, but this system can be tricky to unlock. Unless you are directly looking for fast travel points, they are very easy to miss as you explore. However, there is a clue you can learn about the time curse of Mount Qaf that lets you find these anchor points on your map.

The action-packed combat and exploration of becomes easier when you equip Amulets to give Sargon their first buffs to aid their journey across Mount Qaf. These items offer a wide range of different abilities and can be upgraded to become even stronger. However, each Amulet takes up a number of slots in your Necklace, which limits how many you may wear at a time.

is the latest installment in the franchise from publisher and developer Ubisoft. Since the original game release in 1989, the franchise has covered a variety of storylines, and the newest iteration provides a fresh perspective once again.
