The best tool in Sargon's arsenal in is an Athra Surge, a strong technique that unleashes the Immortal's channeled spirit into various attacks. These moves all have unique properties designed for different encounters with enemies across the Citadel. However, the limited amount of Surges you can equip makes some abilities better to have than others.
Sargon can have only two Athra Surges equipped at a time, but you can easily switch them out by resting at a Wak-Wak Tree. Similar to how you would change out your best Amulets in , unlocked Athra abilities can be mixed and matched in a custom loadout of sorts for Sargon. Feel free to experiment with Surge combinations to see which two work best together.

Verethragna's Smite
1
Rush toward an enemy with a piercing strike that shatters all defenses.
The first Athra Surge Sargon acquires is Verethragna's Smite during the first level of. Obtained right before you have to beat the Sword Master boss, this Surge acts as your introduction to Athra as a concept. You build Athra by landing combos against enemies and not taking hits in return, as they fight back with a variety of their own deadly strikes.
Make sure to use defensive techniques such as dodging, sliding, and parrying against enemy attacks to keep your Athra meter growing and eventually unleash a Surge.
This Athra Surge may be limited to the ground and only deal a slight amount of damage to enemies, but it has the capability to destroy shields and other defenses. Several foes you come across in the Lower City and Hyrcanian Forest can be hard to deal with. Since Verethragna's Smite is a Level 1 Surge, it can be easily used to clear rooms full of tougher basic enemies.

Arash's Ray

Fire a powerful beam that goes through enemies. Hold the attack button to aim accurately and release to fire.
Menolias' Bow can be an incredibly useful weapon that Sargon obtains after you defeat Erlick in within the Hyrcanian Forest. However, the Arash's Ray Athra Surge obtained later in the main story quest gives more utility to ranged attacks in the game. This Surge is special among other Athra abilities for allowing you to aim and control where its attack goes in combat.
The beam produced by this Surge pierces through multiple foes, which makes it a great Athra skill to use against larger crowds of enemies. Unfortunately, the damage from this ability is not too strong like many of the projectile attacks in. The Level 2 cost also makes it difficult to use consistently unless you are very careful not to get hit by enemy attacks for a longer amount of time.
