Three years ago, after its infamous reveal, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake was indefinitely delayed. Since then, it changed developers and re-entered the concept phase as Ubisoft Montreal took over from the Mumbai and Pune teams.
We have new insider word on the status of The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
The Epic Games Store's spring sale is underway, from today until March 28th. That makes it twice as long as Steam's spring sale, which also started today. I'm not sure if that makes it twice as exciting, but here's what does: Deus Ex Mankind Divided is free to keep for the next week.

The return of Eddy Gordo, the capoeira specialist who’s been a fan-favorite in the long-running Tekken series since his franchise debut 25 years ago, should have been a slam dunk for Bandai Namco. His absence from the critically-acclaimed Tekken 8 was a serious point of contention between series director Katsuhiro Harada and overzealous fans as early as last summer, and his inclusion via DLC was a step towards correcting the unpopular omission.

It might seem like you’re going to have to scour the massive map of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown in hopes of finding all of the game’s Athra Surges. Luckily, however, this isn’t the case. In fact, by the time you beat the game, you’ll likely have discovered them all. Now you have to use them all, though, to get the trophy.
Steam Next Fest may be over for another few months, but dozens of demos are still alive and kicking, it seems - which is good news for me, who still has a good half dozen on my to do list, and also good news for you, as it means you still have time to check out the really quite good demo for Stand-Alone, a fast, 2D hack and slasher where you play as a robot-powered sheep packing a very large sword. Wolves have broken into your home and murdered all your friends, but you play as the one sheep who got away - or rather, a sheep that's been fused with a surprisingly powerful robot capable of producing a honking great greatsword to make their escape with. Thus begins the wolves' hot pursuit - not least because this robot also seems to be kind of sleeper agent for them - and your roguelike-shaped quest to avenge your fallen friends.
If you’ve past the halfway point in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you’ll likely already have discovered the five timed challenges in the Sacred Archives region. While the first four are mandatory, as you’ll need to complete them to gain one of your Simurgh powers, the fifth optional one is by far the hardest. That’s why we’re going to guide you through it from start to finish in both text and video formats.
Though there is a trophy/achievement tied to finding the Ghost Ship in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the process of actually locating this secret area is surprisingly difficult. Of course, as usual, you don’t have to worry about that one iota if you’re here and reading this guide.
In a financial report released today, Ubisoft said they intend to release Star Wars Outlaws in 2024. That was already expected. More interesting is that Assassin's Creed Codename Red, the stab 'em up set in feudal Japan, is also due to launch in the "fiscal year 2025". That's also known as "before March 2025", for all you non-CEOs.
There are plenty of tough platforming challenges in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, but most players are likely to be roadblocked by some of the game’s tougher bosses. Naturally, among the most difficult are the Immortals, who turn on Sargon in favor of Vahram’s treachery. Orod is one of the toughest, but fear not; we’ll guide you through how to topple this giant.
As you make your way through Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you’ll find that there are plenty of platforming sections that will test your mettle as a player. However, there’s one challenge in particular that will have you banging your head against the wall. It involves a room off to the side from the elevator at the Haven, and you must make it through two minutes of perfect jumps, dashes, and other skills in order to complete it and get a new skin for Sargon.

We’ve played plenty of games set on a post-cataclysmic Earth, so there’s something refreshing about getting to experience one that takes place mid-apocalypse. From the creative team behind World In Conflict and The Division comes Exoborne, a game whose multiplayer action is lent a dose of chaos by extreme weather.
This particular puzzle in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown can seem especially tricky. That’s because there are two statues to begin with that are roughly the same size, and one of them isn’t meant to be used at all. Don’t worry, though; we’ll guide you through the process as quickly and effortlessly as possible so that you can move on with this particular Metroidvania.
The Sacred Archives puzzles in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will see you creating clones of yourself while solving a series of increasingly difficult timed challenges. Your goal is to address one aspect of the puzzle with each pass until, with the help of your clones, you can complete the challenge. So, let’s get started, shall we?

The best tool in Sargon's arsenal in is an Athra Surge, a strong technique that unleashes the Immortal's channeled spirit into various attacks. These moves all have unique properties designed for different encounters with enemies across the Citadel. However, the limited amount of Surges you can equip makes some abilities better to have than others.
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is full of powerful enemies to defeat. Not all of them are fully-fledged bosses like General Uvishka, but some comfortably take on the role of mini-boss. Erlik, the rampaging giant pig is one such mini-boss, and he can be quite the pain if you go in unprepared.
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown exploded onto the scene as if from nowhere and rocked our world. It’s early into 2024, but we have fallen in love with this reboot of the classic series. The revival of this long-dormant franchise moves into the gear-and-power-gated family of games colloquially termed Metroidvanias, thanks to its similarity to early classics like Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. It’s a genre that has been gaining traction in recent years, but Ubisoft’s return to the Prince of Persia franchise is one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. It's even managed to make a spot for itself on our list of the Best Metroidvania Games you should make a point to play.
Alternate versions of Sargon appear as recurring bosses for you to find and beat throughout your adventure in . These dark reflections have the same skills as you but are equipped with extra Athra abilities, making them a challenging fight every time. The maximum number of health bars Sargon has in can be increased when you find special items called Soma Petals scattered across the Citadel. Putting four Petals together forms a flower that makes you able to fight for a longer time during your adventure. However, these artifacts are only found when you overcome great challenges presented in different areas of your map.
As you pursue Anahita into the Upper City of the Citadel in , you will be stopped by a Chakram puzzle with two lion statues that may be difficult to solve. This Chakram can interact with the world to open up new paths, but must be used carefully for this puzzle.

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is made up of three key pillars – combat, exploration, and puzzle-solving. Sure, most of your time will be running around looking for loot and fighting the undead, but from time to time, you will be asked to use the ‘ol noggin to solve a tricky brain teaser.
Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is not the easiest game going. Combat is fast and enemies deal a lot of damage. If your reflexes aren’t up to snuff, you might find yourself struggling. This challenge is ramped up even further once you factor in the likes of boss battles. Needless to say, The Lost Crown has no shortage of those.
Given the sheer quantity of games releasing on Steam these days, having a neat little elevator pitch for your game can be vital in helping it stand out. For example, if I get an email saying a game is like "Obra Dinn meets such and such" or "Into The Breach but a deckbuilder", that's like personal catnip to me, and can be a handy indicator of whether I should investigate further - maybe watch a gameplay trailer for it, say, or see if it's got a demo. Case in point: this is exactly how I stumbled upon the upcoming Donkey Kong Country-esque platformer Windswept last week, although instead of an email, I saw it on the growing "Your game is too much like..." thread over on Xwitter - which is definitely worth a browse if you have very niche interests in need of a good scratch.
One of the most important features in is the rare structures that allow you to fast travel between locations, but this system can be tricky to unlock. Unless you are directly looking for fast travel points, they are very easy to miss as you explore. However, there is a clue you can learn about the time curse of Mount Qaf that lets you find these anchor points on your map.
Outside of that development space, Ubisoft has a history of alleged rampant sexual abuse by employees in positions of power. An ongoing issue that came to light in 2020, with five former employees being arrested in late 2023. Because of these allegations, I have stayed away from Ubisoft games outside of work, and this led me to Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Beginning in 1989, the Prince of Persia series enjoyed consistent attention, with its longest break between releases being six years between Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame and the better-left forgotten Prince of Persia 3D. 2003’s Sands of Time and its two sequels marked a new era for Prince and, in many ways, laid the foundation for Ubisoft’s most successful franchise, Assassin’s Creed. The 2008 Prince of Persia reboot didn’t reignite the series as Ubisoft had hoped, and 2010’s Forgotten Sands felt closer to a movie tie-in than a new, proper entry.

Prince of Persia is known for many things. Rewinding time, death-defying leaps, hack-and-slash combat, unnamed protagonists with smarm and sass - no matter what iteration of the Prince you’re controlling, it’s a distinct series with a clear identity all its own.
It's difficult not to feel nostalgic while playing Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown. The original games of the '80s and '90s by Jordan Mechner were «Metroidvanias» in their own right, with precise platforming, precarious traps, and a bit of backtracking all woven into the gameplay. This new entry into the franchise goes back to that formula, only now with the benefits of modern game design and tech, and I'm happy to say The Lost Crown earns its spot in the pedigree.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is not expected to be particularly challenging to run. As a 2.5D perspective action platformer, Ubisoft chose to prioritize genre over technology. That comes with quite a few upsides.
Ubisoft will be releasing a demo for Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown ahead of its release in January, a leaked Game Awards trailer has revealed. Posted earlier this evening by PlayStation Brazil's YouTube channel, the trailer has since been taken down, but not quite fast enough to prevent some folks from downloading it and plastering it all over the internet (good spot, VGC). Apparently the demo is coming January 11th - one week before the game's full release on January 18th.
The trailer is presumed to be debuting officially as part of The Game Awards.
Ubisoft Montreal has shared a very vital update to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remastered.
WASD is a calming indie-led oasis, a gaming weekender nestled in the heart of East London that's a less corporate and infinitely more chill take on the often sweaty games convention. If you're not heading to WASD this week, here are six indie bangers you’ll absolutely want to have on your radar.
A listing on the Xbox Store has revealed that Mortal Kombat 1's in-game currency, Dragon Krystals" can be used to purchase skins, gear, colour palettes, "and more".
This year, I ticked off one of my biggest bucket list goals and finally got to go to Gamescom, something you’ll already know if you’ve been keeping up with our coverage on the site or seen my handsome mug on our YouTube channel. Now that the hard part of walking thousands of miles through the Koelnmesse and finding something to eat that cost less than €20 is behind me and I can sarcastically write about it all, it’s easy to forget that I was a big ball of nerves about going to such a big event.
