Developer Red Hook Studios has announced that modding tools for roguelike dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon 2 will be coming to PC soon. In its announcement, the studio has revealed that modding support for the game is “nearing its first deployment”. The modding tools are slated for before the end of June.

It’s coming up on three years since the sequel to Darkest Dungeon hit early access, and over a year since it exited early access into 1.0. That means, however you count the days, it’s been a long time coming for one of the original game’s features to find its way into Darkest Dungeon 2: mod support.

Darkest Dungeon II developer Red Hook Studios published an update on the game’s mod support earlier this week.

For Darkest Dungeon fans, Red Hook Studios has good news: Darkest Dungeon 2 mod support is nearly here, with the first stages of it arriving in June. Darkest Dungeon 2 has been on a hot streak lately, with exciting new announcements, but this one might be the most anticipated of all.

Red Hook Studios' 2023 roguelike dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon 2 is officially coming to PS4 and PS5 consoles on July 15. The sequel to 2016’s award-winning game known for its punishing difficulty and well-executed gameplay, Darkest Dungeon 2 was initially released only on PC. But like its predecessor, it seems that the game will gradually be doled out to other platforms as well.

Red Hook Studios’ acclaimed roguelike turn-based RPG Darkest Dungeon 2 is finally launching for PlayStation. After launching last year on PC on the back of an extended early access period, the game will be releasing for PS5 and PS4 on July 15, Red Hook Studios announced in a PlayStation Blog post. Darkest Dungeon II is getting a free update, Kingdoms, later this year that will add a new campaign game mode. 

Darkest Dungeons 2 is receiving a new game mode as a free update sometime this year, developer Red Hook Studios has announced. Dubbed Kingdoms, the developer says it’s a standalone campaign, and describes it as a “race against the clock to find and defeat a monstrous threat before it overwhelms and destroys the Kingdom.”

Darkest Dungeon 2 is adding a new Kingdoms mode to the game. The turn-based roguelike game released in early access in 2021 with a full release in 2023. Reviews noted that Darkest Dungeon 2 featured a strategic and difficult but ultimately satisfying gameplay loop. In addition, Darkest Dungeon 2 received praise for having stylish visuals, blending 3D and 2D into a brutal, gothic, fantasy aesthetic.

As part of this evening's Triple-i livestream, the developer of Darkest Dungeon 2 has detailed a new campaign mode, Kingdoms.

Darkest Dungeon has been blowing up on Steam since early April. Its massive popularity spike arrived more than eight years following Darkest Dungeon's debut.

The first major DLC for Darkest Dungeon 2, The Binding Blade, is out now on PC. Available on Steam and Epic Games Store for $9.99, the DLC brings with it two new heroes, as well as a new wandering mini-boss, among other new content. Check out the launch trailer below.
