Red Hook Studios' 2023 roguelike dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon 2 is officially coming to PS4 and PS5 consoles on July 15. The sequel to 2016’s award-winning game known for its punishing difficulty and well-executed gameplay, Darkest Dungeon 2 was initially released only on PC. But like its predecessor, it seems that the game will gradually be doled out to other platforms as well.
The first inkling that the gamemight be headed to consoles came in March, when keen-eyed observers noticed that Darkest Dungeon 2 had been rated in Brazil for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series consoles, PS4, and PS5. To the disappointment of excited fans, this new rating didn’t reveal a possible release date, but if the pattern of the original game was anything to go by, many people expected the console versions of Darkest Dungeon 2 to arrive sometime in 2024.
That expectation is now being confirmed, at least in part. Red Hook Studios has released an announcement trailer to reveal that Darkest Dungeon 2 will be coming to PS4 and PS5 on July 15. Preorders are already open, and PlayStation Plus subscribers can get a discount on their purchase. For now, there has been no official mention of Switch or Xbox versions, but the first game similarly released on PlayStation before arriving on other consoles.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is also available in a special Oblivion Edition bundle that includes both the base game and the Binding Blade DLC, which adds another questline, a wandering boss, and two new heroes to the experience. An upcoming free update for Darkest Dungeon 2 will introduce Kingdoms, a campaign game mode that tasks players with defeating a major threat before it overwhelms the kingdom. They will be able to gather resources to upgrade heroes and a network of Inns, helping them defend against the incursions of monsters.
Darkest Dungeon 2 on PS5 will make use of the DualSense controller’s unique haptic feedback technology. Players will be able to feel the heartbeat of characters who have fallen into Death’s Door, as well as the wheels of the Stage Coach as it rolls over a trap.
In addition to Darkest Dungeon 2, PlayStation.Blog also confirmed that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2: Help Wanted will be coming to PS VR2 on June 20, and a new gameplay trailer was released for Stunlock Studios’ highly popular vampire-themed action RPG. Currently only available on PC, V Rising will be launching as a PS5 console exclusive sometime in 2024.

In a year overflowing with great-looking Metroidvanias, Minishoot' Adventures popped out to me for the sheer oddity and novelty of its premise. It's a top-down twin-stick shooter where you play as a small spaceship in a bright, colorful world under attack from a shadowy villain called the Unchosen. And I do mean you play as a spaceship, not someone piloting a spaceship, which really adds to the charm of the world. I've only played the opening act, but it's officially my next weekend game, because it's immediately clear why it's been so well-received on Steam, with over 1,500 97% positive user reviews at the time of writing.
After months of controversy and discourse, the Stellar Blade reviews are finally in. As of writing, it has an aggregate score of 85 on OpenCritic, earning it the 'Mighty' badge. "If only you could talk to these creatures" is never more funny or true than in games like Rotwood, where you play cat people and orcs sent to biff snail worms and flies with scythes. From Klei Entertainment, the gang behind Don't Starve, Invisible Inc. and Oxygen Not Included, to name but a three of their fine games, Rotwood is out later today in early access, ready to provide co-op highjinks in a roguelike dungeon crawl that is really a forest. A forest crawl. You'll get muddy knees.
The recent review statistic for Tekken 8's Steam page has dropped to «Mostly Negative» following weeks of controversy.
